Elisabeth's Chalet Ratings and Reviews
My Schnitzel wasn't crisp but mine was the only one like that in my foursome. The other change was the potatoes were fried to point of being dry. Formerly the potatoes were made with onion + bacon + more flavourful. In my opinion. We have frequented this restaurant for many years + I'm glad it's traditional European food is still being served. I think it would have been kind to comp. the slice of Birthday cake my 88 yr. old mom was served, but it wasn't. They did give her 2 short carnations wrapped in a paper doily....nice, but....ALSO, the washroom is in serious need of updating.
We've been eating here for years. It's very traditional. Having travelled through Austria and Germany, and eating schnitzel everywhere, it's amazing to come here and have even better schnitzel than almost anywhere that we were! The service is true European quality, unlike anywhere else close by. This is the real deal for almost a fraction of price of a Vancouver equivalent meal.
Only issue is I used this service to book with request for small cake for our 47th annivesary and it was never mentioned, server just brought over desert cart. Not the end of the world, but, not what was requested why use this app?
Front doors and lobby area need refurbishing, getting very tired looking.
Overall enjoyed our first visit, promoted by veggie schnitzel.
Maitre'd stared silently at reservation book for a long time while I was able to glance at it from the side and immediately find our booking.
Chair for our daughter had a loose bottom cushion, when she attempted to lift her chair to sit closer to the table and then sit back down, she painfully pinched her fingers between the chair frame and the seat cushion bottom. The spätzle smelled and tasted burnt and greasy, compared to the spätzle I have enjoyed numerous times in Germany itself. My guests enjoyed the Elisabeth's Merlot Blend, as we all did our desserts.
Still, my wife and I doubted that we would return, the meal was good but not outstanding.
The food was delicious. The service was good. The ambiance was terrible. We went on a Monday night thinking it would be quieter than other nights. There were less people but they crowded them into one section of the restaurant and you couldn't hear yourself think. If they would have spread out the customers even a little bit, it would have been wonderful so you didn't have to yell to be heard.
I took my mother in law here for her birthday dinner.
I thought it would be nice to have something she used to make before going into assisted living to remind us of Austria.
The shnitzel and purple cabbage and spatzle and gooood coffee did the trick.
Nice and quiet so we could talk and the staff were very friendly.
I would definitely recommend.
Elisabeth's is one of our favorite local restaurants. It is quaint, has excellent food and the service is wonderful. We had a special request and were accommodated with pleasure. It is good to call ahead for the Chateaubriand as it is prepared to your liking and everything is always so well presented. Nigel has been a server there for many years and the only long time staff remaining. He is excellent and makes the evening extra special. I will try to save room for Crêpe Suzette next time and be sure to request this in advance. Thank you for adding the extra's to our anniversary dinner!
I have not been to this restaurant for years but it is still a very nice place to eat and the food was very good and my friends wanted to share a meal and they had no problem with this. It was very quiet mind you we had a 7:30 reservation so most people have eaten by this time so I do not know what it would be like at an earlier sitting.
I would recommend this restaurant even though I thought the prices were a bit high but the atmosphere was very good.
A happy customer....Ann Senko, Aug 22,2017
Elizabeth's is fine dining and fabulous food at a regular cost of eating at any restaurant. Lovely tablet cloths, cloth napkins, fresh flowers and spectacular food. Used to be a place for a special meal to celebrate, now you can go just for dinner. I like to dress up but several people come very casual. A gem of a place
It was my dad's 80th birthday. He had requested this restaurant, and again it did not disappoint. We were a group of 8, our reservation and table was ready, everyone knew it was his birthday, and the cake I had arranged was delicious and brought out as dessert as requested. My dad was really surprised, and we all had a lovely evening.
Food was outstanding. Wife had Schnitzel "Franz Lehar" and I had Schnitzel Hawaii. Mains and sides were all perfectly prepared. Also ordered the cheese toast and it was delicious... the bread itself was so light and fluffy. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. Will definitely eat here again!
Our reservation was confirmed by Open Table but on our arrival we were not on the list. Although the restaurant was fully booked they were able to find us a table which was greatly appreciated. Normally I think it would be quieter but it was Father's Day so there were large groups of families which made it noisier than usual. It was a very pleasant experience and the food was outstanding.
My roommate and I had a craving for European cuisine so upon searching the net, Elizabeth's Chalet popped up and we thought that since it was close, we'd give it a try! I don't drink so I can't tell you about the wine but I do know they have an awesome dinner menu and it was hard to decide.
I had the Schnitzel LaFehr (crab and shrimp in a sauce over the schnitzel). My roommate had the schnitzel and bratwurst and he loved it. I'm glad I ordered sr. size because I still took home leftovers! My roommate ate it all (barely). The food is awesome!
The waiter that we had (I'm sorry I didn't get your name) was cool and made you laugh and relax. Everyone was having a good time and talking to one another and to other tables.
You don't feel like you have to eat and run and the prices are unbelievable to start with and more unbelievable when you see the size!
If you want a relaxed, happy ambiance in an original restaurant, with plenty of great food and great wine I'm sure, then I'd totally recommend Elizabeth's Chalet. I'm going back because there's more on the menu that I want to try. It's a solid 10/10
