I guess you have to be friends with “Courtney” in order to get better service and complimentary things. Simple things like bread and drinks must be a high coveted prize. Guess I’ll take my money else where.

Overall was a great experience! The food was delicious. Probably the best meal I’ve had in a while. I recommend the steak el gaucho , sweet corn, and chocolate cake for desert! The el gaucho red wine was great too. The only negative I can think of is the 20% service fee. It definitely adds up and we feel bad not tipping so we tipped on top of that.

Great food and service. We got sat at the best table in the place to help celebrate our anniversary. Everyone said hi and congrats on our anniversary. Table had handwritten card with rose petals surrounding it. Really over the top with the extra service and details.

Beware they charge a 20% service charge because they are a Seattle based company and they're offsetting the livable wage they have to pay their employees. So sad because it also impacts how you too your server when $50 gets added to your bill.

Really good food, great service, but a little cramed and a bit noisy, a bit pricey for the lack of personal space and portion size, overall all a great experience

The food and service is great. I do have a question about Open table reservations. I wanted to change my reservation from 2 to 5 @ 7PM and was informed by open table that there were no openings until 9PM. While at the restaurant I noticed many "open" tables that were empty. With this observation: Is "open table" only allowed so many tables being allotted? Would calling directly to restaurant for a reservation?

We had a Saturday dinner here and the overall experience was excellent. The food was prepared perfectly and the service was impeccable. Not wallet friendly so it might be best for special occasions for those on a budget.

Food was excellent. Nice atmosphere with live music. Very long wait between salads and main course. I personally don't mind as I like to let first course settle but made for a very long evening. Once main course did arrive one person's meal was not correct therefore everyone in party had to wait while they prepared correct meal. This made for Luke warm main course for all. Not what I would expect when paying over 700.00 for meal. No offer of apology. It definitely put a damper on what could have been an outstanding experience

We have dined here often and always have a great experience and leave absolutely stuffed. We love the friendly service and the romantic atmosphere. We enjoy the Tableside Caesar for Two. It is always spot on and a great way to start your evening. We shared the Flaming Brochette and a side of their Mushroom Risotto. It was all delicious and filling. The tenderloin used on the Brochette was prepared perfectly. First time trying the Risotto and it was outstanding.

Outstanding food! I had an 8oz Filet Migon; the best I’ve had in a while. It did take a while for the food to come out but it was worth the wait. We had a birthday party which was a party of 10.

Sad state of affairs. Used to be my all time favorite place to eat. Unfortunately the ownership has decided to fight back against the new min. wage by jacking their prices up to a point where even I cant justify it. AND... on top of it they get you for a 20% service charge to recoup their losses and make it very clear that it is NOT a tip.

The food is still good and the service is un rivaled.

It was my husband’s birthday and I wanted to take him to a place that I knew was consistent in quality and service. Once again, el Gaucho did not disappoint. From the handwritten birthday card to rose petals in table..and ending with a birthday candle on dessert, it was everything I hoped it would be.

We had a wonderful meal. Our service was great. I was disappointed on where we were seated. I made my reservations on line and didn't even think about asking for a certain table. We were there right at 5:00, checked in and waited on the couch with another couple who were there ahead of us. After about 15 min. and several other couples arriving for dinner, we were seated(last of all the people there waiting). Our hosted directed us to the middle of the room, next to the beam with another table for 2 on the other side. She then asked if this table was alright. I was a little perplexed that this was the table selected for us at that hour, but sat down without a word. This was a special occasion in the sense that we got all dressed up, made reservations and were spending a romantic night out after being married for 39 years, 2 children and 3 grandchildren.
After being in the restaurant business for 30 years and customer service for 35 years, you would think I would know better. I will remember to request a certain table the next time I visit.

El Gaucho (Tacoma) is a great classic steakhouse! The service is world class from the moment you walk in the door. Great wine captain and wine list, lots of menu items prepared table side, and just the right amount of attention throughout the evening. The food is incredible, especially the steaks. Lots of great appetizers, salads, and desserts as well. There's a nice selection of add-ons available for your entree. Desserts were great, but you have to save room. The complimentary fruit, cheese, and nut plate at the end is a nice touch. Be sure to join their free Reveler's Club. I went for my birthday and got a nice credit towards the bill because I joined.

From the moment we arrived everything was just outstanding. The service, atmosphere, the drinks at the bar, the table setting, the extra care and hospitality which was provided to me and my wife on our 31st Anniversary.

Thank you for a wonderful experience and you will see my family again.

Service at a restaurant doesn't get any better than El Gaucho. We have never been disappointed, and we are always surprised by the level of service we experience.

First off, you're might run into some issues parking. You can definitely pay valet out front, or you can park a little ways over behind the building.

El Gaucho is also very expensive. One of the pricier places in the area. If you get a couple of drinks, plus your meal, and a desert, it's not unreal to spend $150+ dollars.

With all that said, the trouble parking and the price is definitely worth it. The portions are quite large on everything. There are several items they will prepare tableside. The waitstaff is super helpful, friendly, welcoming...prety much everything you want them to be.

We went on a Saturday evening and they were at near capacity and had a live pianist playing a variety of uptempo oldies. He was pretty good. In general, the ambiance was nice, but it also was a bit loud. We caught ourselves having to speak a little louder than normal in a couple parts of our conversation.

I'd recommend making reservations. I can see this place getting booked up pretty regularly. They also cater to special occasions, so be sure to let them know when you put your reservation in.

We had so much food, we brought a god bit home and had a whole other meal. The food was still just as tasty when reheated even.

Overall, there is very little to complain about. The complaints we did have were VERY minor and the experience more than made up for these minor shortcomings. This is a great place for a night out, assuming it's in you budget.
