The restaurant has a unique mission; to eat well and do good. Founded in 2007, the mission of EDWINS Leadership and Restaurant Institute is to instill leadership skills in formerly incarcerated men and women through an education in the culinary arts.
Our aim is to change the face of re-entry through food and hospitality.
Excellent Food - Wonderful Service - Enjoyable Evening
This place is amazing! Loved the food and the whole team that took care of us. From Tim to his coworkers and his manager! Amazing customer service! Can’t wait to come back.
Beautiful outdoor seating! Service was outstanding!
The service and food was amazing and relaxing.
Highly recommend to anyone that loves food.
First place we went to once the restaurant’s opened up again.
It was weird seeing the place so empty. The food and service were excellent as they always are.
First time out since the pandemic. It was excellent and staff was friendly and not uncomfortable or weird at all
Everything was excellent!
They operated safely. Masks, distancing. Great time. Brandon great host. Felt safe.
Dined on the patio Saturday b/c this looked like the best option for us with limited spots back open for biz during CV19 pandemic. Loved the well prepared escargot, seafood dishes, and cocktails. Would go back again for their exquisite French cooking. Much enjoyed.
Absolutely wonderful service and amazing food! All the tables were spaced accordingly and all the staff wore mask.
Phenomenal French cuisine and excellent service at very reasonable prices. A great time was had by all eight of us (2 tables of 4).
We always enjoy and opening patio night during a ridiculous “pandemic” did not change that. They put every effort into making it an amazing experience. Job well done!
We were here for our Anniversary. The service was very good. Food was excellent and had great advice from staff on pairing wine. We were very happy to support this mission.
Second visit and once again an outstanding experience. The food, service, and ambiance are great. Keep up the excellent work and commitment to humanity.
We went for the Restaurant Week menu, which was outstanding, and nicely paired with wines. Service was attentive and friendly.
There are only three French-inspired restaurants in Cleveland that we adore. This is one of them, and living on Coventry we can walk there in good weather too! You will love the high ceilings WITHOUT that horrid industrial look, white table cloths, proper service and exquisite food that is prepared authentically and with great care! We are so lucky!! Moreover, the owners have a great cause and ethos in helping people recover from the vagaries of life's circumstances. BRAVO!
This place is just a pure gem. You can not go wrong with the quality, taste and presentation of the foods. The service, beverage selections and hospitality given by the staff is nothing short of exquisite. It is very difficult to first attain excellence which Edwins has accomplished. The much harder part is to sustain this which again they have managed to do over the past few years. I am so glad to have them in the neighborhood.
Here is to the continued success and many more phenomenal meals to come.
We came with a group to celebrate Restaurant Week. The RW offerings were pretty basic, nothing that would woo us back to try the regular menu, if we had been first-timers ( which we were not). Two persons chose items on the regular menu because of the lack of interesting options for RW. The wait staff were very attentive -at times too much so. Bread kept being put on our plates without asking if we wanted any more. We were filling up on the bread before the meal arrived. Water was refilled multiple times after only 1-2 sips. Our area in the front window was delightfully quiet which enabled conversation, but it felt tight and enclosed. Nonetheless, we all strongly support the mission of Edwin’s and look forward to many more evenings there. The staff were all VERY nice and most interested in making our time at Edwin’s pleasant and memorable. Thank you for the lovely efforts exerted by everyone.
Wonderful food. Loved the decor/ambience. Server attentive. Lamb was outstanding. Will return and preorder the duck! Cheese cart a must. Enjoyed a leisure dining experience.
Such a great night!
Romantic date night venue. We loved the food and atmosphere.
Great food, relaxing atmosphere, and the service is amazing!
From the moment you enter until the moment you leave you feel at ease, welcomed, special. The service is top notch, the staff accommodating and on the ball. The food was top notch as always. It's the most relaxing and unpretentious place to dine in this entire city!!!!
Fabulous food! Service was exceptionally friendly but it was apparent we were part of the training process. A few noisy outbreaks from dish handling and because we were outside of the kitchen. Soothing decor.
Really the food was pretty terrible aside from the cheese plate. Everything was cooked wrong and presented cold, and even if they tried to fix it (which they did and I appreciate it) it was wrong. Great concept- bad execution
Finally! This is the fine dining experience I’d been seeking but had never gotten from other restaurants: Multiple people will greet you coming into and leaving the reAttentive service ( your bread plate won’t be empty for even a nanosecond); every course bountiful and seasoned to perfection; your mixed drink will be the best mixed drink; your dessert will be wonderful. If you alert them that you are there as a special occasion celebration they will note that too.
Thank you EDWINS for a flawless experience.
The grouper was absolutely wonderful and my wife's veal was just excellent. Our server, Derrick, was very attentive and congenial. The menu selections are great and we shared the Grand Marnier souffle, which was good but not what we expected. It was mostly egg whites with no bread-like body. Taste was good but would like a more substantial composition.
The wine list is extensive so give yourself time to consider the 4+ pages of choices!! We had the Argentinian Malbec special selection and it was very good.
We had a lovely time at Edwins! The food was delish and the atmosphere was lovely. We will be back!
Service a little rough BUT that was the great part.Everything doesn’t have to be perfect. I loved the experience yes I paid more for my burger than I normally would but it was done at table side and was wonderful. The entire evening was wonderful and I would go back over and over again. Everyone was kind and wanted to please us. Thank you for making this place available.
Edwin's was amazing! The place was gorgeous. The food was outstanding. My husband ordered the duck, I ordered the pistachio crusted trout. Both dishes were cooked perfectly and had sauces that made the dish. I highly recommend this place. We definitely plan on going back in the future.
Ever since we came here few months ago I wanted to go back to try one thing - Grand Marnier Souffle. I wanted to try it last time, but my wife talked me out of it for a different dessert. Today, we finally got the opportunity to go back. But before we had the dessert, my wife decided to order the appetizer - Fromage de Chevre (Warm goat cheese, mixed field greens, poached pear with Champagne vinegrette), it was fantastic. And then it came - the Souffle (please note, it takes 25 minutes to make, so if this is something you would like to order, order it as soon as you order your dinner). I can honestly say this is in one of the best desserts we had ever have, it hits every single note. Its light, its airy, its flavorful. Its an absolutely must to try. If you never had a souffle, or even if you did, this one will be on the top of your list. My wife also ordered Flour-less Chocolate Pot De Creme (from their special menu) - extremely rich, extremely chocolaty and excellent. There was one small hiccup in the service - when we ordered our dessert, we also ordered French Press coffee and asked for it to be brought at the same time, however, the server brought out coffee way ahead of time. When manager realized the mistake, they brought us another French Press (by the way, the coffee itself was absolutely fantastic).
Another great experience! Mission aside - great service, great food, great attention to details. Special shout-out to Brandon C. (the owner), stopped by and said hi and a manager Jordan, was always floating and taking care of everything. Just a great experience!!!
Couple that with the mission of Edwins (restaurant, butcher shop, pastry and overall non-profit), Edwins is truly an experience you have to try in Cleveland!
Not only was the meal enjoyable and delicious, they called me right away to let me know I had left my leather gloves behind! I appreciated the prompt and attentive follow up. I was able to go back quickly without making a separate trip or having time to panic as to where I had left them!
Moreover, the staff made a big deal about my friend's birthday and she really appreciated the special attention.
Dinner at Edwins is delicious and elegant. The staff is warm and friendly yet professional. Our entrees were perfectly prepared. Wish we had been hungry enough to order more courses from the most interesting menu! We recommend Edwins every chance we get!
Magnifique! Always a superb experience at Edwin’s.
Very nice and affordable restaurant. The staff was very friendly.
The staff was courteous, helpful and attentive. The food was delicious.
Loved everything about it.
We dined at Edwins for the first time on Valentine's Day weekend. When we arrived for our reservation, we waited about 10 minutes. We completely understood the business because of the holiday. However, we were one of three couples waiting, and the owner brought us all a complimentary glass of champagne for waiting. This was just one example of how active he was in making the restaurant great all night. Our waiter was clearly new and may have said 10 words all night, but all of our food and drink came out correctly - so no big deal there.
Onto the food, we enjoyed the escargot appetizer. I loved my short rib on a bed of risotto in a red wine reduction. My girlfriend also loved her potato-wrapped grouper. The flourless white chocolate torte was a great way to end the meal, as both our waiter and another waitress said it was the best dessert on the menu. Our cocktails were both solid - nothing spectacular, but very good.
Between the mission of this place, the quality of the food, and how impressed we both were with the owner all night, we will definitely be returning to Edwins!
My wife and I decided to try Edwins after reading so many positive reviews. We were seated in front of fireplace which was nice but also close to kitchen. Much traffic from staff. I was blown away by the number of staff working there, all pleasant and relatively knowledgeable. I got a good recommendation on a bottle of wine from the Stewart. The lobster bisque was only warm yet very tasty. My wife had the lamb and she said it was the best she has ever eaten. I had the wild game which I had to work to cut up. Not a lot of meat but tasty. There is a disclaimer in the menu warning that you may find pellets in the meat which I did, how authentic. I had the creme brûlée’s by far the best tasting and good size to boot. Restaurant has limited space to move around. Staff are pulling cheese, meat and desert carts around which makes it a tad hectic. All in all it was an above average dinner and service and we shall return.
I spent the weekend in Cleveland visiting friends from college and we decided, in spite of it being Valentine's Day weekend and all the madness that comes with it when fine dining is concerned, to make a reservation at Edwin's for a nice night out. For three of the four of us, it was our first visit to this estimable restaurant. And for four of the four of us, I guarantee it won't be our last visit.
We were seated within ten minutes of our reservation. The petite dining room sometimes calls for a little patience and understanding as turning a table can take a little extra time. The drinks ordered at the bar were transferred to our table and the bill a breeze.
We decided to indulge in the cheese cart as a way to kick off the evening. The gentleman working the cart that night was deeply versed in cheese and helped us choose four varieties to create a perfect accompaniment to our charcuterie platter.
Three of us chose fish dishes from the menu with two enjoying the grouper with crispy potatoes while I devoured the pistachio-crusted Blue Hole trout. Our fourth companion selected a beef short rib with red wine risotto from the special Valentine's menu.
Sadly, we were all a little too full to make a selection from the dessert menu, but the choices looked spectacular, both on paper and in presentation around us.
The service is attentive. I've heard some say perhaps a little too attentive for the average, but my measure for fine dining is a simple one: my water glass should never go empty. And it never once did on Saturday night. It's a basic measure, but it indicates to me the staff's level of engagement with the room.
Our server was a marvel. Not that we're insanely demanding diners, but we wanted for nothing.
All in all, Edwin's is admirable in its mission and in its execution. I'd be pleased to take anyone there to dine for any occasion that calls for a special night out.
