The restaurant has a unique mission; to eat well and do good. Founded in 2007, the mission of EDWINS Leadership and Restaurant Institute is to instill leadership skills in formerly incarcerated men and women through an education in the culinary arts.
Our aim is to change the face of re-entry through food and hospitality.
Wonderful, as usual. A true gem
The food was so amazing! My husband had the Restaurant Week special with butternut squash soup, Guinea hen, and the triple chocolate pyramid. I had the burgundy snails, braised rabbit leg, and bananas foster. Everything was absolutely delicious!! The meat was so tender and the flavors just exploded in your mouth. The quiet atmosphere and beautifully decorated space made it so intimate. We will definitely be coming back for major holidays and our anniversary!
We had.a wonderful evening. Excellent service, food and atmosphere. Very friendly. True French Cuisine. Great program!
Fabulous food and fantastic ambience!!! Never disappoints !!! Owner very personable and checks on tables !!! Love this touch !!! Top restaurant in Cleveland!!!
Awesome time at Edwins. Our server was amazing and did a great job of explaining her back story and how much she has learned at Edwins.
Loved everything. Our server was outstanding. Just two issues. The heating vent below our table roasted us! It blew hot air on all 6 of our legs all evening. We managed to close the vent but it was still too hot. The creme broulet was not carmelized on top. Want that crispy tap when you hit the top with the spoon.
First time there, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. They were busy during restaurant week, yet service was great. My well-traveled, foodie friend rated the escargot as the best she ever had! Our entrees, salmon and guinea hen, were scrumptious and appealing. Would definitely go back and will recommend to others.
A little dark but very upbeat vibe. Servers were genuine and caring. Food was delish. Always great to be welcomed by Brandon.
Thrilled at my first visit to this amazing establishment. Will go back for sure! Also proud to support such a great endeavor.
Met up with great friends, food was excellent, service a little spotty. i.e. our waitress removed our silverware after our appetizers as if she had already served the main course. Service was disjointed.
Amazing concept, love the social benefit. Wiling to pay more because of who they are employing if the food was good.
Good French food outside of France. Better than its closest competitor in Cleveland (Albatross) because of the sauces. Edwin's sauces are delicate and nuanced not heavy handed as is the case with too many so-called French restaurants in Ohio. My wife had the prix fixe menu with wine parings and the wine parings were right on target. I had the rabbit and it was delicious. The only negative was the service which was almost smothering and the pace of the meal was far too fast even after we asked them to slow it down. I refer to it as good French food at a McDonalds pace. Others may well prefer that type of service, but not us (but it is better that the opposite end of the service spectrum). Nevertheless, we will go again and we definitely recommend it.
Had long leisurely dinner with excellent French food and service. Joe took great care of us, patiently, knowledgeably answering our questions with a smile. Butternut squash soup was light, creamy, delicious. Salmon was perfectly seasoned and cooked with crisp tasty bottom layer. Potato encrusted grouper was perfectly cooked (flaky, tender, not fishy). Chocolate pyramid was rich, smooth and satisfying. We were well cared for all evening. Music was a little loud at first but at some point it was put at a level more conducive to conversation. Snug, cozy space - my one wish for Edwin’s is that they can eventually have more space for easier movement thru dining area.
Very classy place with a lot if character. The food us unbelievable good. Very exciting menu.
I mentioned it was a birthday, nothing special was done.
Everything was outstanding - my new favorite restaurant!
Best frog legs I've ever had!!!
Can't wait to return!
We can’t wait to go back! First impression was a beautiful restaurant. The host greeted us as if we were regulars. Once seated we our every need was met. The food was spectacular. Just hands down delicious! I ordered the burger that was made table-side. The gentleman was full of information about what he was doing. It was so fun and super delicious. My husband had the rabbit and said it also was delicious! Everything about this place was fantastic! We can’t wait to go back. Going to be hard to try new places! We were having so much fun it didn’t occur to us to take photos!!
Food was exceptional. So glad to experience such a worthy community endeavor.
First time there and although it's 40 minutes from my house I plan to be a regular. The food is amazing, the staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is perfect!
My bday! Prix fixe meal was great
If you haven't been to Edwin's yet, you're in for a treat! Fabulous food, great service and worth every nickel! Brandon and his crew have done a fantastic job for the last five years. Edwin's is always a homerun!
The space, the service, the food and beverage selections we of superior quality. Every associate I encountered took pride in her/his craft and it showed!
Amazing staff that was extremely attentive. Great menu and were very accomodating to our Vegan requests.
Owner came out and talked to every table and formed a personal connection; more than just asking how your food was!
It was our anniversary and they surpised us with a desert and special decorated plate. Absolutely reccomended.
This is a very good restaurant, on pretty much all levels. What distinguishes it is its mission: to bring ex-prisoners into the mainstream by educating them in all aspects of the restaurant business. The folks who work there all seem very happy to be a part of it.
I love Edwins- been many times.
However, this time we waited such a long time for our food abd when it arrived it was just warm. We were brought endless bread and water which kept us going but it was far too much.
It was extremely busy but it was a little disappointing.
We were seated in a window setting and we were very cramped together. There were 8 of us and I had been telling our friends how fabulous Edwins is - unfortunately I think they will not be rushing back.
great place good food very enjoyable only thing I would change is the music. way too loud . never noticed music before when I dined there. Where we sat by kitchen & bathrooms hard to hear people at the table.
Love Edwins. Visit as often as feasible. Great cause.
Service was great, tables are too packed in and the noise level was uncomfortably high. Food was overpriced and mediocre in taste. The concept is, of course, is outstanding and I hope conditions improve quickly.
Food and service was excellent! It is a bit noisy.
Our meal at Edwin's was exceptional - outstanding food/ preparation; wonderful service. I had the portobello dinner - delicious vegetarian option & quite filling. My husband had venison which he loved. Our friends' dinners were also good. It was my husband's birthday & they gave him a complimentary sorbet.
More than anything, I love the concept behind this restaurant— giving extra-cons a chance at a new life. Our waiter was the definition of earnest— we had personal attention from all the of staff there. The food is excellent. The creme brûlée is the best I’ve had anywhere! The noise level was a bit daunting and be prepared to spend $.
The food presentation was awesome! The rabbit and the venison was prepared with excellence! The creme brule melted in my mouth. Portions were very generous and filling.
Customer service was on point. Staff was friendly. They met all our needs with class and efficiency. The restaurant was nice and clean. Pristine white table cloths. This is the epitome of fine dining.
It was great to also support a worthy cause to give offenders a second chance in a great work environment.
We will be back!
The food was excellent and the service was great. Edwins is a good place for an anniversary or another special event.
I think EDWINS is a good nonprofit cause. I consider the $100+ meal we purchased a donation to that cause. The food was very mediocre for all four in our party. Out server, while friendly and polite, made many errors / omissions. She always apologized, but there were just too many mistakes, the restaurant is a “fine cuisine” French restaurant- with table side preparation and the like. It presents itself as a “special occasion restaurant where one would pay for a fine dinner and evening of quiet conversation with friends. Instead it is noisy, which was exacerbated by rap and 70s disco music, which was very at odds with the ambience and the overall “theme” of the restaurant, the manager was not responsive to concerns about the music other than to slightly turn the volume down. We enjoyed being with our friends but it was not a value for food/service/noise/price. I wish them well in the cause, but we won’t be returning.
edwins is 5-star worthy in all caregories. great service, and ambience and the food is perfectly prepared and presented.
Team members were very nice but need a lot more training for the service to match the food
Our waiter was outstanding. The food was so delicious and the portions were hearty. It was our anniversary so we ordered 2 desserts. The orange soufflé was so light and we truly enjoyed the bananas foster prepared tableside made the evening just perfect!
Lovely restaurant with great philosophy but food was fair
The staff was incredibly attentive , and the food delicious. I would return just to see our sweet waitress, Belle!
