Italian
West Village

The sophomore restaurant from Don Angie’s Angie Rito and Scott Tacinelli gives coastal Italian-American favorites a spirited spin. We’re talking dill-spiked crab-and-mortadella dip, pasta alle vongole given a shot of heat with aji amarillo, and shrimp parm with a sweet and sour arrabbiata. Although the menu leans playful, the sexy dining room and serious cocktails that don’t take themselves too seriously (think: a martini with “garlic bread” vodka) make this a decidedly grown-up second effort.

French
Greenwich Village

This intimate West Village charmer is an ode to chef Maxime Pradié’s French-Italian roots. Expect rustic yet elegant takes on family recipes like pissaladière (a Niçoise flatbread topped with caramelized onions, anchovies, and olives) alongside Roman-style pastas like tagliatelle alle rigaglie di pollo. Pair your meal with thoughtful French-forward wines curated by beverage director and Musket Room alum Cory Holt.

Steakhouse
Chelsea

MICHELIN-pedigreed chef Melissa Rodriguez joined forces with Tao Group Hospitality to open this swanky steakhouse in Chelsea in late 2024. Ruby-hued velvet seating and gold-leaf walls set the stage for a feast of flame-kissed vegetables and impressive mains like a 50-ounce porterhouse cooked over a custom, 12-foot Mibrasa grill. Add in a tableside raw bar cart featuring oysters and caviar service, plus a 1,000-bottle-deep wine list, and you have all the ingredients for a fancy night out.

Vietnamese
Chelsea

From the team behind Thai Villa and Pranakhon, La Dông is a destination for its standout Vietnamese street food inspired by the </span>Mekong River. Come for heaping bowls of pho—some of the city’s best—and knockout dishes like a bright yellow Hanoi-style branzino with turmeric, dill, and herbs. Striking lotus flower lampshades and cozy booths set under rustic wooden arches add to the transportive vibe, as do playful cocktails like a passionfruit mojito and a zero-proof riff on the classic G&T.

Terrific business lunch. Seated promptly. Took our orders quickly. Let us linger for a bit at lunch, which was nice.

Georgian
West Village

Head to Georgian restaurateur Gurami Oniani’s first stateside spot for traditional and modern takes on the country’s most iconic dishes. Dig into mtsvadi (meat skewers), khachapuri (cheese-filled bread), and the show-stopping Mother Khinkali—a massive dumpling stuffed with six smaller ones—in a cozy space with vibrant, hand-painted murals and backgammon-tiled tables. Don’t miss the stellar, all-Georgian wine list starring qvevri (amber-aged wines) and other bottles from small-batch producers.

Excellent new cuisine for those who like new experiences. Dishes were very tasty, nicely presented and served with friendly explanations. Cocktails had interesting new twists and were served by a very friendly, knowledgeable bartender. Overall a new and excellent dining experience.
