EDISON, craft ales + kitchen is an inventive bar and restaurant that brings together the food culture and local flavors of downtown, with expansive indoor and outdoor seating and spectacular views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The smashburger was terrible, dry and over cooked. The garnish was abysmal. The fish and chips were nothing special. The short rib and grits were fine. The waitress was disappointing, almost arrogant. The value was so poor I don't recommend this place to anyone. It used to be so much better!

What a great place to be. The wait staff was attentive and fun, the drinks were perfect. The only reason I’m not giving the perfect five star rating is because of the ground beef Pattie’s in the smash burger. Instead of being hand tossed, it seemed that they were preformed patties and not really smashed. Otherwise, the chicken wings, deviled eggs, fish and chips and French fries (we were in the mood for comfort food) were perfectly prepared.

We had a reservation for 7 pm and had to wait 15 minutes to get to our table. There were empty tables but lack of people to take us to our tables. There were three or more couples standing by the hostess stand also waiting. We were sat outside, our request, next to a bar of dishes and drinks. It looked like a dirty dish sink in a kitchen. There was NOTHING on the table. There were no condiments, no glasses, no silverware. Nothing! It was an outdoor table. Our party of 2 was seated at a table for 6. It took quite some time for a waitress to acknowledge us. The food was good, but nothing extraordinary. We had the smash burger and the spare ribs and grits. I've eaten at the Grove Park Inn several times and this was subpar for certain. The topper was that we had to pay $14 to park in the park on your own section of the hotel. It's not the way it used to be. It used to be a special night out. We'll be looking for something else.

The Edison is a "do not miss" if you're in the area. The scenery is like out of a fairy tale story. Wonderful architecture. Perfect crafted cocktails and delicious food. Enjoy!
