Pricey but worth it
Absolutely wonderful food and staff. The views from the restaurant was stunning!
Enjoyed a lovely birthday dinner at Edison last night. We got seated on the patio right at our reservation time and had a beautiful view of the mountains and changing colors of the sky as the sun set. They have a solid beer selection and food for any palate. Burgers were good but probably could have used a bit more sauce. Self parking is free for the first 3 hours!
Outside seating was amazing and comfortable, outstanding sunset views! Waiter was great, no rushing us through our meal! Food was amazing as well!
Cody, our waiter, made our Anniversary dinner so special. He is an excellent waiter!!
The scenery is spectacular and alone worth the visit. The menu is high southern, with vegetarian options and local touches (one cocktail is garnished with a paper airplane). Our server was friendly, knowledgeable and easy-going. There is not much shade, so a 5:15 reservation made for an intensely sunny experience. Make sure to get a table in the shade or you will be very hot!
Hot! I placed a June reservation back in April, then inquired prior to our reservation if outside seating would be available. They responded that they’d see what they could do.
Upon arriving we were told that outside seating was indeed available, but that shaded seating was reserved for parties of four or more. We had three people. It was also 90 degrees outside. We agreed to the sunny seating, but the heat turned out to be so uncomfortable that we ate our meals as fast as possible in order to go cool off.
Having driven six hours from Ohio, and reserved seating well in advance, it would have been nice to have been accommodated and had a better experience.
We decided to eat at The Edison to be able to see the historic Grove Park Inn and eat while watching the afterglow of the sunset over the Blueridge mountains. The wine selection was overpriced and sub-par..so we both ordered a flight of local craft beers. They came out and were obviously mislabeled, so we made a game of guessing what we were actually drinking. For dinner we ordered the Joyce Farms Chicken and Bison Meatloaf thinking these would be difficult for the kitchen to screw up. The plates of food were beautiful when presented to us...but tasted terrible and were both so dry the food stuck to the roof of our mouths. We managed to take a few bites and that was it. Our server was super nice so we did not complain... she knew by the barely touched plates that the food was inedible. Not sure how this restaurant has a 4.7 rating on Opentable. Should have looked at the local reviews from food critics which were not so great. The historic hotel's lobby and terrace views are spectacular so I would suggest getting a glass of wine at the bar in the lobby, grab a free seat on the terrace to experience the view, then head back into Asheville for some decent food.
We appreciate your feedback from your recent visit and dining experience. We are very glad you enjoyed the views and service. We very sorry to hear about the quality of food you received. We shared your review with our Food and Beverage Management Team with the aim to improve our food quality and offerings. We look forward to serving you again soon, so we may show you the dining experience for which we are truly known.
Wonderful service, beautiful setting. We chose to sit outside on the terrace at sunset and it was great!
This is an absolute must-do in Asheville. The food is outstanding and the grounds are beautiful.
Excellent dinner! We will return next time we’re in the area.
The Edison is a great place with great cocktails and the Elk was fantastic.
So, I was really looking forward to sitting on the terrace for dinner at Edisons in the Grove Park Inn. When my grandson and I arrived for our 5:45 reservation, the only table left on the terrace was away from any kind of view. I asked the hostess if we could wait for another table to open up, and she was very obliging. We only had to wait about twenty minutes, which was awesome. We were off to a good start. All went well through drinks and a small appetizer, and that was when it all went south! My Hanger steak dinner, the only steak on the menu, at $48.00 was extemely tough. I know that hanger steaks are not real tender, but this was ridiculous. On top of that our server was working too many tables, and after our meal was delivered by a runner, I never saw our server again as she was busy with a table of eight men who all wanted separate checks!! I did not have a steak knife, so I had to get up and get one myself from the serving station. Then, I was looking forward to having wine with my dinner, but no one ever showed up to see if we needed anything. When you go to a place like this, you are paying for the food, service and ambience. We got the ambiance, but that was it. If you decide to eat there, stick with drinks and sandwiches. I really wish now that we had been able to get reservations at the Sunset Grill. That's the place to eat when you're at the Grove Park.
Totally worth every penny. Beautiful view, great drinks, and even better food.
Our waitress was amazing!!
We had an outstanding dinner there!! Our waitress Erica went out of her way to make our night special! We can’t thank her enough!!
We loved the entire experience! Great ambience, view, service and very good food! For us, a definite highlight to our visit to Asheville!
Our server was great! Can’t beat the view. The burgers ( smash burger and lamb burger ) were outstanding. Always fun!
Our server was the best part of the evening. She was delightful, attentive and efficient.
Amazing views with excellent food and service! Highly recommend!!
The hamburgers were so good, tender and juicy with all the fixings! The beer flight is a fun way to try different brews.
Very nice dining experience, food was good service was excellent. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Fantastic food, great service, incredible views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the resort
The food was absolutely amazing! So many wonderful flavors. Sunset Mountain View was breathtaking! Our server was awesome! Encouraged us to take our time and enjoy every minute and bite! So nice to not be rushed. It was the perfect dinner for our 20th wedding anniversary!
Mediocre (cold)food and slow service.
It was a good experience, wish they had a little more on the menu
The best sunset view in Asheville with outstanding service and food.
The service and food was great. Abby, Caroline, and Erica took great care of us.
Dave Nowak was our waiter. He did a wonderful job!
Great view of the mountains, attentive service, fun menu selection. I was seated overlooking the mountains to see the sunset. Excellent cheese board, beer flight and bison meatloaf. This restaurant has the views and atmosphere at a lower price point than the Sunset Terrace also on the property. The Grove Park Inn is an interesting history part of Asheville history - it is worth stopping in the lobby to see the giant fireplaces and exploring when you come to dine!
Our waitress was not very attentive and visits to our table were rare. Our meal was out very quickly though.
Wonderful experience! Will definitely return in the near future.
We both had to send our entries back one to be reheated and the second to be “recooked”. Not many options for dinner at GPI when you’re staying there. Very disappointed.
The shrimp & grits, bison meatloaf, and apple cobbler were amazing. Great ambiance and service! The music was weird for the setting though. Felt like I was at a skating rink, then back in high school with the 80’s and 90’s pop/rock. Doesn’t match this restaurant style.
Great view, good service. Good variety of food and local craft beer. A terrific affordable alternative to the Sunset Terrace, with just as nice a view.
Excellent experience!!! Staff was on point and the food was delicious! And you cannot beat that view!!!
Our server, Alex, was tremendous. She was very attentive and had a happy go lucky personality. But, the food, THE FOOD was so delicious. Compliments to the chef. Everything was just wonderful.
The best part of the dinner was the outdoor table that we had with a fabulous view of the mountains. The food was average at best and pricey. Our server was a bit slow and the worst part was having to $20 to park your car! Outrageous to say the least!
Excellent ambiance and food. Best charcuterie plate we’ve had anywhere. Highly recommend for a wonderful evening!
