Good outstanding as usual. The limited capacity and distancing was strange, however, the result was a much quieter intimate dining experience. Still our favorite place to dine in Poipu.
The Ceasar salad was bland and very underwhelming. The ahi tuna was good but not worth the high price. The chicken pot bowl was nothing special and again, not worth the price. Overall, we are disappointed bc we expected this meal to be fabulous. Tidepools over scored this by a long shot.
We had a delightful evening in Kauai. Arriving for the first seating at 6:00 PM we found a busy restaurant still adapting to the rush of business associated with the recent relaxation of COVID-19 restrictions. Team service began promptly, accompanied by friendly conversation and a knowledgable explanation of the menu. Wine selection was appropriate to our needs. We each had the braised short ribs preceded by salad and Rombauer Sauvignon Blanc. A dessert of chocolate soufflé finished the evening. The food was very good, but the highlight was the delightful wait staff. We had a fine evening.
Not the quality of a Roy’s restaurant. Service was terrible. Food was subpar.
Out of the 7 restaurants we had to date, this was my wife's favorite. She had the whole fish and loved it. For me, the short ribs were awesome and the kids loved their meal.
Incredible service. Food is all very tasty but the service is what made our experience so great.
We really enjoyed our dining experience and will come back the next time we come back.
This was supposed to be a special dinner out during a vacation. The overall experience was a negative one unfortunately. The food, though pretty on the plate was not tasty at all and none of us finished our entrées. The cocktail that I ordered, a mango mule, was very water down. I really didn’t like this place. :(
Fantastic dinner at Eating House. They could easily modify dishes to make them gluten free. Everyone loved their meals.
Everyone was so friendly and helpful. We loved the food
Wonderful food, view and service. Would definitely recommend to others.
Outstanding food and venue. Service and management were clearly overwhelmed and cutting noticeable corners to keep up. Exceptional food runners, all women. Bartender was great. All servers were men and one kept cussing loud enough to be heard. Dirty glassware with wine service by the manager. On two occasions our table was bussed by someone carrying dirty dishes from another table, once by a manager and the other by a busser.
Love the dining room with a rustic feel and open side to see the lovely view. The cocktails and food were very good. We have always loved Roy's cuisine and this newer lace is really special.
Staff was so friendly and attentive despite being crazy busy!
A favorite whenever we are in town.
Ok, not great
We always have the same appetizers and entree for the past couple of years and the food is consistent every time. It’s a little pricey but you get what you pay for, no complaints here. Great food.
Food was amazing! Wish the chocolate soufflé was an actual soufflé and not a lava cake.
Everything was delivered quickly and with beautiful presentation.
Always our favorite meal on the island. Can’t go wrong with the Short Ribs, Ribeye, ramen, hot pot, potstickers, or anything g really. We’ve never had a bad dish here.
So happy with our meal. The tables were nicely spaced out and our service was excellent! The ramen is AMAZING!!
Fantastic in every way. Delicious food, large portions, great service, beautiful dining room with tables well-spaced and lots of open air.
Celebrated my birthday here. Great food, service and atmosphere, definitely recommend!
Wonderful food. Breezy covered porch.
Smallish menu but delicious food. Enjoyed everything we got, especially the sizzling ribeye tataki and butter fish hotpot!
Always our favorite dinner on the island. We try to make
It our first dinner and our last to set the time for a perfect vacation. It never disappoints.
It’s definitely a treat to go here. It’s not cheap. Love the braised short ribs and the molten lava cake. The service was very good and friendly.
Outstanding.A gem of superb culinary mastery. Foodie heaven. The glazed butterfish is as close to perfection on earth as you can get. Their burger is delectable-juice combination with pork and Portuguese sausage.
Had a great birthday dinner for my son. Service and food were awesome!
Beautiful location and views. Outstanding food. Hot Pot with Butterfish was so good! Low-key. Small menu with variety of price points- burger to fresh fish. Always love coming here.
Mikey is one of the coolest and most professional servers we’ve had in a while. This place is a Poipu staple and i’m relieved it survived the Covid era , maintaining it’s high standards in food quality and service.
Great service. Food was good but not great. Very interesting selections, the Hapa Burger was delicious and huge! (A+). The Ahi special was good but a bit dry (seared perfectly) the calamari was average. Spicy ramen was heavy on the peanut taste. The tempura onion rings that came with the burger were a huge hit. Should be a menu item!! Mikey was an amazing server! We want to go back just to see him and have the pleasure of his great attitude and impeccable service!
The best meal we had in Hawaii. Fabulous!
Embodies Hawaiian taste and aloha, everything was delicious and ambiance very island and relaxing.
First place with truly friendly staff. Great food, don’t miss the pineapple upside down cake with ice cream, made to order.
The Eating House seemed to be very busy. Despite this, we had at least four different servers share assisting our table with food and drinks. The calamari was excellent, the pork adobo and Ramen were good, and the pork belly was phenomenal.
Amazing!! We’re local and this is probably the best dinner we’ve had on island. Totally worth the price and wait time!
Delicious meal. Really enjoyed the butterfish hot pot
Everything was delicious and the service was superb!
Insanely amazing!!!! Loved it. Memorable for every reason: food, setting, view, ambiance, service. We were already looking for another reservation before we left our first!!!!
Wonderful dining experience last night at Eating House! We were celebrating our final night of our honeymoon, and this was the 2nd time eating at 1849 (trip in 2018 was our first). I had the burger which was amazing. Our server surprised us with an off the menu desert which was very tasty and a great treat to cap our meal. When staying in South Kauai this will definitely be a must the next time we visit the island.
