Our server was Mike and he was excellent! The food is delicious...too many good things to choose from.
Amazing food and drinks! Seemed to be understaffed though because it took a while to refill water and we weren’t asked if we wanted additional drinks.
We ate here on our first night on the island and were so impressed we rearranged some existing reservations later in the week to return here on Friday night for another dinner.
We again started with the potstickers which are amazing, and also added the clams casino. I had the short ribs, while my wife had the fried chicken. Both were outstanding.
Tables are well spaced out, and we felt very safe with their covid protocols. Highly recommended.
Great experience! Yummy food, fantastic service and beautiful setting! The server was just exceptional!
Let’s keep supporting our friends in the food industry!
Attentive service with excellent food.
Solid food offerings and execution. Service can be “leisurely” but was totally appropriate with this Pandemic-era visit.
While the menu was limited due to COVID, there is a decent selection and all the items we had were excellent. We go there every time we are in Kauai. (Usually more than once......)
The location of the restaurant is incredible, and try to make reservations a half hour before sunset as it is beautiful. With that said, the experience was just OK. We had a reservation, and when we met the hostess, she was not very friendly at all. She attempted to seat us in front of the kitchen, until I asked for a table with a view...which she ended up begrudgingly giving us. The waiter was ok, just not overly friendly. The menu was pretty limited (maybe because of Covid- I’m not sure). My wife and I got the rice bowls, her’s with butter fish- which she enjoyed and mine was with the chicken, which was OK...chicken had a great deal of grizzle. For dessert we had the apple pie which was delicious...and I’m a chocolate fan- so it must have been good if it wasn’t chocolate. Again, overall the experience was just ok, given the fact that dinner for two of us was well over $100. This place is owned by Roy Yamaguchi, and we love his Roy’s restaurants...so maybe our expectations were higher.
We had reservations here the first night of our visit to the island. We showed up about 20 minutes before our reservation, but they were able to seat us immediately. They had removed many tables so those that remained were always at least 6 feet apart. No risk for overcrowding. Our server was attentive and helpful, and the food was fantastic. We started with potstickers and the roasted Brussels sprouts and cauliflower. The potstickers were so good, we ordered a second order. My wife had ribs and I had short ribs and both were prepared perfectly. It was a really enjoyable meal in a safe environment. Highly recommended.
Food was great ! Service started off good then took a turn for the worst. We sat atleast 30min after we finished the main course for our waitress to come back so we could order desert. By the time she did return she didn’t even ask us if we wanted desert. She brought our check about 10min later. We asked to speak to the manager on duty, When the manager came to our table she showed very little concern about the poor service we received. In our opinion both the waitress and manager are in need of some serious training. I guess we just expected better service from a place like Roy’s. ( Eating House 1849)
Great food, beautiful view of Poipu and great service.
It wad absolutely terrible. Service was deplorable. I tested a Caesar salad and I was told 30 minutes later they were out of romaine and would I like a Cesar salad with Kale! Then all the food was cold. Al 4 dishes. The drinks were watery. Waitress miserable and non apologetic. Finally manager offered to replace one cold meal. Took forever. Honestly it may have been one of the worst overpriced and underwhelming meals I’ve ever had.
If there were a 0 on the scale I round have chosen 0.
Need I say more? The entire meal should have been comped
Very enjoyable experience and safe.
Not great. Ambiance was good. Service was average. Food was poor.
Excellent food and service. One of the few nice restaurants open during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Loved my experience there as always. Great and attentive staff.
Made a reservation for my girl friend’s birthday dinner around sunset and was treated to a delightful experience. We come here often but they definitely stepped up the service for her special day. It is a bit pricey but the service, timing of the food and it’s exquisite flavors made it worth the final bill.
Food was just ok. Your next door competitors have a much greater value and seemingly quality of food. The server and staff is a saving grace. They are completely wonderful and so professional.
With just opening up, service was slow but the food was awesome
Great Birthday dinner. Always have a good time with good food, would definitely return more often if the makaweli beef tostada came back!
Fantastic meal, great open air ambiance with a view of the sunset and amazing service!
Great place to dine for our wedding anniversary. Due to Covid-19 the dining area is spread out and a great place to chat and enjoy the evening. Highly recommended.
Noise was moderately high but that’s a good sign amidst the Covid restrictions. We enjoyed the place and the food. We’ll be returning.
Delicious food and attentive wait staff.
Great food. Great atmosphere and service.
Beautiful location, phenomenal food and service. This is the place to go in Kauai! Also, try to book a time to see the sunset.
This place is awesome. I have lived on Kauai for over 8 years and it is the first time I have been there. But it won't be the last. Excellent food, views, service. What can I say, it was perfect. We were celebrating my wife's birthday week and it was icing on the cake.
Excellent food and service. A must for when visiting Kauai
Food was excellent as always. Service was a bit slow, but there is a pandemic after all. Excellent meal for the price. Highly recommended.
Loved it! We’ll be back!
Perfect place to celebrate any special occasion. The view is beautiful. The service is friendly and professional.
The food was served hot and tasted delicious.
Food was very tasty and flavorful. Great view. Attentive servers.
Food and service was amazing! Highly recommend the burger and butterfish!
Date night with my husband.
Ahi we expected to be more ahi steak style. Instead it was medallions with TONs of noodles.
A lovely experience, everything from the cocktails to the desserts.
Eating House was nice and quiet. Service was great. Kind of sad the paella was not on the menu this time because I would have had that, but I had the spicy ramen since it came with dessert! Yummy both the ramen and the dessert.
It was very quiet and ambience is very nice. Tables were apart fir social distancing which is awesome!
Perfect food, atmosphere, service, island pace.
