We had the pho and gyro falafel sandwich. The gyro falafel sandwich came out without falafel. There were two phos ordered at the table. Mine was rather bland. The other pho had about twice as many noodles so consistency was a concern. The service was perfectly fine, but we had to ask for silverware and then napkins. I made a special note on my reservation to be seated outside at the best available table. We were first seated inside so it seemed the reservation and special note hadn’t been viewed or taken seriously. The ambiance is great, but that’s the only reason I would go back. For the price, I’m not sure it’s worth it to have that experience. I’m not sure I’ll be back soon, which is unfortunate because it’s such a great spot right by the ocean.
Weekend at the beach. We had a wonderful dinner.
I loved the buffet style breakfast it was very good. However the menu selection for the weekend package(romantic rendezvous) I reserved was very limited. It would have been nice to have a bigger selection.
The chef was very mindful of my dairy allergy and made very flavorful substitutions. The food was excellent and service was wonderful as well. Very attentive and friendly staff.
Our server was new since she almost dropped the wine glasses, failed to offer a tasting, and forgot to return to fill glasses. However, her menu recommendations were spot on. Overall, it was a good experience. The atmosphere and decor is outstanding. Food was equally excellent. Thumbs up on both the tilefish and braised beef ribs with pappardelle.
This was a Valentine's date, therefore my expectations were lower. I understand the fixed price meal etc. When my wife states that was the worst meal she has had, well it was disappointing. I haven't mentioned overpriced even though I expect that on Valentine's and New Year's.....still, lack of creativity, portions and quality make me bring up value.
The hotel is great but the restaurant.....well there are more interesting and fun places a short walk away.
View is the real reason to go. Food is average hotel food. Service good. Overpriced drinks and wine list. Surprised this dining establishment is on Open Table.
Had a great dinner. My crab cake was delicious, lots of meat. My wife had “A Study in Squash” which an excellent butternut squash lasagna. Round instead of square, with bechamel sauce, pumpkin seeds and pomegranate berries. Awesome. A great evening oceanside. Highly recommend East.
Brunch was average. Service was poor. Waitress never checked on us. Did not clear any dirty dishes. Had to ask for more coffee and water. Not what i expected.
Although on the ocean, we could not see it from the dining room. However, the view of the beautifully landscaped grounds was great and we were able to enjoy the ocean for a bit after we ate.
Nice view of landscaped gardens, but when at the beach, would prefer water views.
The brunch was awful, the buffet was full of flies, the omelet station was so backed up I cancelled my order. The drinks were watered down, Bloody Mary had no flavor, pickle looked mangled and the mimosa was all orange juice. Tried going to the pool bar, ordered lobster nachos that never showed, watched 3 other tables get theirs who showed up after we did, ended up cancelling the order and leaving. Very disappointed, beautiful location and restaurant but they obviously need some serious changes in the kitchen/service.
I'm super thankful we did not stay after reading the reviews on food! We were the very first table seated and waited at least 10 minutes before someone came out to greet us. I wish they would do something about the stinky sulfur water - or at least offer something else. It is disgusting. Our waitress could not read or pronounce the special. I opted for a glass of wine and we got the cheese plate just to hang out as we were not getting a good feeling. My husband did not want to order an iced cocktail if the ice was made with the sulfur water! When the cheese arrived, we just laughed. How hard is a cheese plate? You slice cheese, add some nice bread and fruit, some nuts maybe and a garnish. I really wish I would have taken a photo. Large chunks of cheese plopped on a white plate with some grapes. Oh wait, there was some mustard! Funny. We sat and enjoyed the beautiful night for a while and watched salads, food and drinks served to others and listened to their responses which were not positive. We paid our bill, said a quick thank you and headed elsewhere. :) It's a shame. It's a gorgeous hotel and venue. If they want people to stay and eat ... or locals to come during the off season, they had better shape up! Hire a chef who knows something about display. Hire a manager to make sure people are tended to. Get a water filtration system for cooking, making ice and serving water.
Perfect night for outdoor dining. Delicious food, friendly, attentive service and a wonderful breeze made for the perfect anniversary dinner.
Lovely outdoor gardens surround the covered open air dining area. Delicious savory, unique culinary creations tantalize the pallet. Perfect setting for exchanging stories and making memories. A remarkable dinner shared on a family vacation! Don't miss an opportunity to dine at East.
Atmosphere was wonderful and wine was delicious. The scallop dish was tasty but the veggies/fruit on top were not appetizing. My husband did well with his burger and beer.
Atmosphere was good, although some noisy guests on the balcony were annoying which were right above the tables outside. Crab Dip was awesome, although my crab cake meal was bland. The crab cakes were good, but all the sides had no salt or flavor. My kids mac and cheese was good for adults, kids complained that it was too cheesy. Peanut Butter and Jelly had a big blob of Jelly on the bread that was oozing out, so messy for a 5 year old. burger and fries were good. The bread the bring out with the butter could have been fresher and warm, it tasted like if it was baked the prior day.
Excellent! Ratatouille was outstanding as were the crab cakes. Atmosphere was great and view very nice. Great outdoor dining area. Staff was very friendly and attentive.
Food was great. Prices were reasonable. Atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming
We were celebrating my husband's 40th birthday and boy do I wish we'd gone elsewhere. The food has potential (although you should take that with a grain of salt seeing that they served a grey and overcooked supposedly "seared" tuna) but the service was so unprofessional and straight up awful I don't even know where to start. I have never EVER asked to speak to a restaurant manager before - and I actually didn't even have to. The waiter send him out herself. He ended up not charging us for a meal that was a huge disappointment for a special occasion. I would strongly recommend you find another place to have dinner. This place obviously does not feel the need to make an effort because of its location.
Wonderful food, service was great. View outside is nice, but cannot see the ocean.
Great atmosphere, wonderful food. Highly recommend
We went for Friday night lobster...1 full lobster & 1 surf & turf...beef was fine & cooked properly....lobsters were over cooked & chewy...
Full lobster came with potatoes & broccoli...both appeared fried ????and were covered in butter...
We were there after 8pm and one of the last 8-10 tables...staff were busy cleaning and truly appeared to not want to be bothered with a hundred dollar dinner table...
We sat outside..inside had several tables with small children. The tent area was beautiful!! Landscaping /lawn/dunes were beautiful...cannot see beach but worth the stroll after dinner....
It's an old hotel that seems to be maintained with pride...
Came down for a beach day. Website advertised brunch buffet to have a "meats vary weekly such as marinated Flank Steak, roasted pork loin and duck hash" none of which was out yesterday. A beef hash that looked nothing like any hash I have ever seen. More like beef stew. Buffet sounded better on the website than what was out. Food overall was ok, nothing special. There was a Waffle station and omelet station, so that was good to get made to order. Fruits were nice, fresh and colorful. Person making omelets was very nice however, her chef coat and pants were really dirty and no apron to cover. It took a long time to get our bill and then another 15-20 mins to get it back. Note: the bill is itemized with no total on the bill so if your math is not good, have your calculator handy and make sure you get correct change back if you pay cash. It was nice to have complimentary valet even when dining at the restaurant and not staying at the hotel. All was just ok, not worth the $18 person for buffet.
We had to ask for seat cushions. When we mentioned that other diners might want cushions as well, very little was done. Our mahi specials were mediocre.
Our favorite place to eat in Wrightsville Beach. Beautiful location. Lovely outdoor dining area right off the beach. Food is terrific. Never had a bad meal at East.
Very nice dinner. Nice variety of entrees and a couple unique options.
It was a slow weekend at the hotel and most of the staff was in training, but it was an overall good experience. The special was great, the crab cake was a bit bland, drinks were good, fried oysters were good, key lime pie was fabulous. Definitely sit outside if the weather is nice; watching kids play on the lawn is amusing and listening to the birds and the ocean is so relaxing.
We were visiting from Raleigh and were happy to fund this wonderful restaurant that serves delicious local fresh seafood. The chef was accommodating with our dietaty restrictions which made it an extra experience. The cheese plate appetizer was excellent. We had the rack of lamb and the pad Thai with ahi tuna. Both were delicious! The view was spectacular and the service was outstanding. Highly recommended East for a great night out.
Went for Mother's Day dinner. Had a great meal with great service. Would go to again if back in the area.
The ambiance was very nice. The food was decent, the service was good. the price was a little high .
Always love East. Usually sit outside but too cold last night. Grouper with cabbage and black rice was other worldly....!!! Waitress and other staff very nice.
A very special night! Very romantic atmosphere. Our waitress was stellar. The food was awesome! Our chef, Jessica Cabo was wonderful and took time to come out and speak to us on our anniversary. She is such a treasure! Everything was beautiful!
Very convenient for our stay. Relaxing first night dinner arrangements after a long drive.
We had an excellent experience here. Our waitress was fantastic. The food was very, very good and it was a nice relaxed pace that we had dinner at. They also helped me pull off a delicious desert surprise for my wife. The prices were a little high but reasonable for such amazing food. The ambiance / noise level was good, the only thing was we decided to eat when there were a couple families with small children but didn't bother us... could have bothered some though.
Menu isn't large, but each order we placed was fantastic.
Maybe expand the wine list would be a suggestion, but our food was outstanding.
Waitress made an honest mistake and didn't submit the order together leaving one in our party without her lunch. Her sandwich didn't come out until after everyone else had finished eating. When we tried to bring it to the managers attention he became extremely defensive and down right rude.
Overall good experience. Nice facilities. Unfortunately, most of the food was cold, which is inexcusable for a brunch buffet at the charged price.
Loved everything about this place!yummy. Fun. Attentive intelligent service. Creative and exceptional cuisine.
Very disappointing visit after we had seen their reviews and menu online. They don't tell you there is an much abbreviated menu offered during the off season (this was late Feb). There was nothing on the limited menu all 4 of us wanted, so we left. *note - it is valet parking only - another surprise.
