Dover Sole Almondine
Great food with excellent service. Calamari with marinara was delicious. Cannelloni was out of this world.
I’ve loved Dominic’s on the Hill for years. I used to frequent the restaurant with Rob Zanti. I’ve told many about the quality of service, food, and atmosphere and sent many folks to the restaurant. Dominic is always delightful. Unfortunately, last night was embarrassing. I brought my partner to celebrate a special occasion. The servers were completely unprofessional. We felt like an afterthought. I never received some of my order, but no one came by to ask how our food was or if we needed anything. I’ve worked in fine dining and the table should have been crumbed. We felt rushed to order when a different server came to our table and said “it’s time to order dinner.” Unacceptable. The other server came back eventually and smelled like an ash tray. I checked my bill because I didn’t trust the servers and I had actually been charged for a glass of wine that was never ordered and one that was never received, but the server ran my card anyway. We sat for a good 20 minutes (because my partner is more patient than me) for my card to be returned. I am so disappointed with my experience. What happened to this place? Please do better next time. It’s such a special restaurant. I want to come back, but spending that much money and being treated like that was not okay.
Fabulous way to celebrate our 48th anniversary, but dining at Dominic’s makes any visit a special occasion. It’s their delicious food, great wine list, and the incomparable staff: Gino, Joe, and the wine gal (sorry, I can’t remember her name) were attentive, helpful, but never obstructive. Our hands-down favorite place to go in a city full of wonderful restaurants.
It was a celebration of 62 wedding anniversary for my parents. We come here yearly for this event. Our food was perfect as usual. Especially the shrimp with white wine appetizer. Restaurant was full so service was on the slower side. Unfortunately we did not see Dominic tonight, he often comes to the table to say hi or sing. Glad to see business booming.
Old world character and good food, but we were a table of only women and were largely ignored once they took our initial order. No water refills or questions about dessert. We had to ask for the check.
Service was excellent, however the food took long time to be served. The flag ship dish Osso-Buco was not as tender as expected, tasty nevertheless. Overall, it was a very enjoyable evening.
Dinner at Dominic's is a special St. Louis dinning experience. The atmosphere and service make it remain at the top of St. Louis restaurant lists.
Superior. The owner Dominic sang for and serenaded the ladies on the anniversaries of two couples. Don’t know any other place this happens! Very special.
We have been to Dominic’s in the past and would have rated those experiences with five stars. Our dinner last night was great with an exception that was completely outside the control of the restaurant.
Soon after we were seated, a group of four middle aged came in that were celebrating the night before the one couples wedding. Their boisterous laughter, language and loud conversation made an uncomfortable dinner for our family.
Besides that, everyone enjoyed their dinner. The salmon appetizer and toast points were delicious. My husband had cannelloni, I had the shrimp scampi with Moscato D’Asti wine. Our sons had the tortellini and the chicken Romano. Our waiter and his drink assistants Crystal and MacKenzie were all friendly and attentive.
If you want to experience real Italian service without having to go to Italy this is the place. Including the mannerisms of being Italian. Large portions so come hungry! Funny I wanted to get a extra side of a pasta I have never had but the one of 3 servers wouldnt let me. He said he didn’t want me to order too much, wanted me to be able to eat what I had already. It was actually kinda funny !!!! Oh wait we actually had 4 people taking care of us. The owner himself Dominic. Very gracious man and can tell he loves his restaurant and customers. Worth finding this hidden place On The Hill
The staff was amazing and the food was outstanding. The perfect place to celebrate a special occasion
Delicious meal prepared with fresh ingredients served by a knowledgeable staff in a quiet atmosphere.
Excellent restaurant and great staff. One of the best Italian fine dining restaurants in St. Louis.
Attentive service. Lovely atmosphere. Delicious food.
The best service I have ever received in a restaurant. The owner worked harder than anyone in the room! His daughter Gina was running the bar and did a great job as well. A FANTASTIC restaurant and we will for sure be back our next time in St. Louis
First time on the hill. The military took me around the world and I’ve eaten in many different restaurants and yours is one of the best. My wife and I had a great Mother’s Day dinner! Can’t wait to come back for Father’s Day! Hope to see you soon. Dale and Kim.
Service was extremely slow. Table seating was in the entry even though we had a reservation. It was very noisy
One of the best dinning experiences in a very long time. The food and service were both excellent. The perfect restaurant to celebrate a special occasion. Thank you so much for an incredible evening.
Great food and service. Will def. go back. Pricey, but worth it.
We took our Mom out for an early Mother’s Day dinner, as she’s leaving town in the morning for vacation. From the moment we arrived we were treated like royalty. The staff was friendly and professional. We never had to ask for anything. Water constantly re-filled. Extra bread and butter came without asking. Mr. Dominic came over a few times to ask us personally how we were and how everything was. The answer: this was the best meal of any kind I’ve had in a long time. Everything was cooked to perfection: the snails, the veal, the mussels, the steak tartare, the Parmesans. Everything was fresh and outstandingly delicious (We were a party of 8 and we shared bites of each other’s food). I can’t say enough about what a wonderful experience this was. BRAVO!
Ingredients were fresh; dishes were flavorful and not overly seasoned; wait staff was knowledgeable and did not hover.
Excellent food. Great atmosphere. Service was friendly and professional; however, at times it was not attentive.
It actually made me sad because I feel like some of the magic has gone from this once grand restaurant. The food was just ok. The service was attentive and when it was clear we did not care for our food, they brought dessert but the food was anywhere from average to poor. They need to freshen up the kitchen.
Fantastic service, great food, great wine!
Top notch experience!
We met family from out of town and had a wonderful dinner. My father especially enjoyed the grouper special - he said it was the best he had ever eaten. We will return!
The food and the service were outstanding!
First time at Dominic's, and would go back again. The food was delicious, as was the wine.
A very enjoyable experience...
The food & service were both outstanding. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening.
Dominic’s has stayed on top of the Italian restaurants on The Hill.
Great place. Been goin since 1992....Service was outstanding and as usual, so was the good.
We first dined at Dominic’s 35 years ago during a job interview. We loved it then and go back every time we are back in ‘St. Louis. Funny story though... the service during the interview dinner was so good that it almost cost me the job. After we dined the executive drove my wife and I back to our hotel. As he pulled up to the hotel door he offered me the job. I thanked him, told him I would call him the next day, and rushed to the restroom. Why? Because the servers at Dominic’s kept filling up my water glass to the point I could not hold it any longer. The executive took my exit as a lack of interest and withdrew the offer. It took two phone calls and an old-fashioned telegram to get things back on track. I eventually got the job and things worked out great. My wife and I dined at Dominic’s tonight. The service was as good as we remembered and the food was even better. That’s why Dominic’s remains one of our favorite restaurants.
Loved the restaurant! Exactly what I expected for a nice romantic evening with my husband.
We chose to dine here during our recent visit with family. Food and service impeccable. We were greeted by owner, who also checked on us throughout. Great waitstaff team. Great food.
My favorite place on The Hill.
Elegant, old-style European service and decor. Recommend highly!
The ambience at Dominics is top notch. The tables were spaced nicely and the mood was perfect. The art adorning the walls accented the white table cloth atmosphere.
The service was excellent and my breaded tenderloin over risotto with mushroom wine sauce was delicious. My wife had the risotto lobster which was also good, but not as good as the tenderloin.
A very nice, romantic dinner for two.
Dominic’s is always a great choice.
We were celebrating a family birthday, and they we outstanding.
Food and wine selection is great. Service outstanding but not too intrusive
Nice evening, great servers and the owner stopped by our table a couple of times to answer questions about the dinner. Most enjoyable!
