Ok so I have never left a bad review. But having said that if you are thinking about going here during your visit to Florida and are staying at the Hilton or nearby, don’t do it ! So many great food options but we were so sad we wasted our appetite , our time, and our money. The only thing worth eating was the salad and the prime rib which the cut in super thin slices, more like a roast. The prime rib was cooked well and had good flavor but it was cold. Everything we even attempted to try was dried out, cold and clumpy!! So so disappointing!! Just don’t do it!! Hope this helps, our time away and the enjoyment to even get to go and dine out is way to precious to spend at a place like this.

The reservation was for lunch at Doc Bales but they don’t serve lunch so we ate at Don Rico’s across the hall. Our server, Antonio, was awesome. Shrimp tacos were amazing and beer was ice cold. Would recommend for sure

We went to Doc to try the buffet. I guess I was expecting more from a Hilton venue. The not food was dried out for being on the the chafing dishes too long. The shrimp boil was bland. The salad and dessert bars were good, meeting expectations … but the prime rib and horseradish sauce were a redeemer. Both needed two rounds from all of us in the party. As for the bar, the martinis would be better off served in a smaller glass - because several rounds of my husbands straight up martinis were practically half poured.

We really enjoyed our meal at Doc Bales. The selection of food was really great! The spicy fried chicken was so yummy! The wine selection was very nice and reasonably priced and Noah took good care of us. Overall we had a really great dining experience.

The food was bland and honestly unpalatable. Additionally, it was visually unappealing. At the carving station, only a thin slice of over done prime rib is given, even when you ask for a second piece. The service was just ok. Beware though, they automatically charge a 20% gratuity in addition to adding a tip line with the suggested gratuity, so it’s like they’re double dipping. I honestly would have left more if they didn’t do this just because I felt bad for the server for the lack of customers. Definitely not worth the money.

The food was excellent but our server was not attentive. Our smoothies were late to the table and she should have let us know the bar was backed up earlier than she did. Everyone was very polite and we were seated early which I appreciated since our adolescent granddaughter was with us. I would come there again and sit in the bar.

There were "NO CRAB LEGS AT ALL" and when I asked, I was told that they have "NOT SERVER THEM FOR QUITE SOME TIME"... The seating near the window was "HOT AND HUMID" (The Seling Fan Was Not Working) and "NOT A HINT OF A/C IN OUR SECTION"... A "PLASTIC FLOOR FAN WAS BROUGHT OUT BUT WAS LITTLE TO NO COMFORT"... This place has the best view from indoor waterfront in Daytona Beach we have ever enjoyed. The servers were great, actually remarkably more pleasant and accommodating than we expected. The food was buffet and even the servers at the carving station, etc. were very good. All the foods we had were delicious and the right temperature. There was something for everyone. Remember that this is a hotel restaurant and anyone, in just about any attire can venture in to eat. Not a problem for us but may be to others expecting a little more formal atmosphere. And it has complimentary valet parking if you spend a certain amount in the restaurant. It was great! We will return there soon. It exceeded our expectations.

I decided to try it because the reviews and because it's on a Hilton property. I was very disappointed. It was very quiet for the weekend with only about four tables occupied. The dinner buffet was limited and in a small space. The food was cold as was mentioned to the server. The fried cod was greasy, and the only seafood I saw was the cocktail shrimp. The food was overpriced in my opinion for the selection. It was not special. The only bright spark was our server Alexandra, she was a gem. We wouldn't go back, nor would we recommend it.

Disappointed the chef’s dinner buffet was not as described on the web site. Server explained it was due to Covid Understandable if it was still 2020. Food was tasty though and service was good. Hostess was exceptionally friendly. However there was a convention going on in the north tower and everything and everyone and everywhere smelled of marijuana

Some of the best peak and eat shrimp I’ve ever had. Quality of food was outstanding. Would’ve liked to known there was a crab leg option before I was walking out the door…😡

Honestly have no idea how Doc bales was because the app OPEN TABLE accepted and confirmed a reservation for us on a restaraunt that wasnt even open for the time they confirmed. We went there to find them closed and apparently only open for breakfast. Both Doc bales and Hilton Hotels should be totally ashamed for what happened to us through their chosen system.

My husband is a Hilton diamond member. He took me here as a Christmas gift. We were told by Chiquita that the buffet ended at 3:00. We made reservations for a plate dinner, at 7:00 pm. We got dressed in nice clothes, came down only to find it was still the buffet. Since it was too late to go anywhere else, we stayed. They say us down, and forgot about us...no drinks, no service! My husband eventually went and grabbed some water off of the cart. The roast beef was fair but very rare. The boiled shrimp were so far gone that you could not peel them. We had a little roast beef, mashed potatoes and a piece of pie. For this terrible meal, we were charged $125.00. (I left the eventual waitress a 25.00 tip only because it was Christmas.) Overall, it was just bad! My husband tried to complain to the front desk but there was no one around. He is not happy and will probably leave a Google review for the motel as well.

We arrived for dinner with my wife's 84 your old mother and her sisters only to find that the restaurant was closed. I spoke to the manager at the sports bar across the hall. When I told him that we had received a confirmation email asking us to confirm we were still coming, he blamed it on Open table saying they sent the wrong email and that they didn't have a phone number for us to call. There was another couple there with the same situation. We ended up having hamburgers for dinner and were late to a concert we were attending. The lack of customer service and concern ruined the entire evening.

Don’t be fooled by the King Crab pics. They’re not on the menu. Doc’s is NOT a grill, it’s a buffet. A bad buffet. Be aware they do not disclose their forced 20% gratuity! Bon appétit!

Excellent food. Fabulous service. Nice light jazz music . . . We were just a little too close as I had some difficulty with conversation. Nice view of the beach/ocean. Took an enjoyable long walk on the “boardwalk” (actually pavers). Great outing. Highly recommend!

Very disappointed in this dining experience. Was unaware that this was a buffet only restaurant - would not have chosen if we had known but it did not say that on the open-table website. Buffet for one person was $40 and I was very disappointed in the value we received for that price. Already a little discouraged by our lack of options and being stuck having to eat off of the buffet, there was ZERO ambiance. No music, nothing. It was as if we were eating our dinner in a regular hotel lobby. Not worth the price, not worth the time, not worth the calories. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

I have lived in this area for many years and have just gone to this restaurant for the first time for my 25th anniversary! What a treat. Our server Kim was top notch and the food was amazing! I cannot wait to take my out of town guests here in the future. Great Job Doc Bales'

The seafood buffet was terrible. The prime rib was tough and inedible. They brought out 3 different ones and they were each just as bad as the other. The fish assortment was overcooked. The shrimp cocktail and lobster bisque were ok. They had crab legs for an additional $20. I’m glad we didn’t order them because $39.99 was so overpriced for the quality of food as it was. We will not be returning.

Unfortunately our experience was not what we had hoped for. The ambiance felt like a cafeteria. We paid $100 for the prime rib and crab buffet. The prime rib was very tough. The desserts tasted old and dried out. The crab was decent and the server was good. All in all not worth the $.

We did the Buffett on Saturday, the regular Buffett was 40 bucks and the seafood Buffett was 60. The food looked really good, but it tasted the polar opposite of how it looked. Nothing was seasoned and everything was dry. Not worth the 150 dollars I spent after tip. Also, I stayed the night in the hotel. The waiter didn’t even ask me if was staying in the hotel so I could save 15 bucks. That would have eased the sting of wasting over a hundred dollars on meal that my wife and I truly hated.

We attended Doc Bales for a special buffet dinner for a smooth jazz weekend. The buffet had excellent selections, we were seated in the outside area which was very pleasant. The big memory is that Sean was our server and did an excellent job. I would highly recommend this restaurant especially on weekends for the seafood buffet.
