Dizz's As Is Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We made a same day reservation for 10 people. They were able to accommodate and went above and beyond to make my mom's birthday a truly special one. Erika, our hostess and waitress, was very personable and hospitable. She was incredibly attentive and met our every need. She even volunteered to take pictures of the family when the food came out! Mom's birthday dessert was complimentary, and Erika brought out their specialty cake--"grandfather's recipe." Erika won our stomachs with the fantastic food, and won our hearts with hers. She really took the extra care to make this day an amazing one. I highly recommend this restaurant for its food and unmatched dining experience.
What can I say? Total CLASS!! I love Dizz's and have since the first day I experienced the food and ambience well over thirty years ago and I am SO glad that it is always so consistently excellent on every level. Food's D'lish, great flavors and diverse menu - classics that also have changed very little over the years which always makes for a welcoming memory - and of course the decor - extravagant in an art nouveau Hollywood meets the beach kind of way - warm and familiar - again like coming home year in and year out - chez nous !! Service just right - not too fussy, always attentive. The occasion : my wife's birthday joined by our two young sons. Could not have been better! Thanks once again Dizz's - for keeping it as is.
Pleasant surprise! This was our first dining experience at this restaurant, and we had heard mixed reviews. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal, very good service, and a certain charm that comes with this 40-year old restaurant. We would definitely dine here again:)
Total gastronomical nightmare.
If you are only as good as your last performance, well Dizz’s As Is was a total let down. Poor quality bar and bar service. The food left everything to be desired. Budget quality ingredients claimed as historically satisfactory. Everything is covered in a sauce of some sort, hiding what they call an entree beneath. We are not food snobs by any means. Dizz’s leaves a lot to be desired. How they can continue to serve such poor quality food and continue to keep the doors open is amazing. Our server was the only saving grace, steering us from the most horrible of choices while guiding us to the ones that were somewhat palatable.
Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.
We've been dining at Dizz's As Is for the past 34 years and have never been disappointed! It's such a quaint and intimate setting and yet it's quite lively! The service is excellent and there is such a variety to choose from on the menu that it makes it difficult to decide what to order. But everything I've ever tried there is absolutely delicious and you can't go wrong! You will feel so full after your mouth watering meal but save some room for their desserts because they are heavenly!
Great dinner in South Laguna. Excellent service from arrival through dessert. Felt welcome and cared for by personalized service from all staff. And the food was amazing. Four of us ordered four different entrees and all were fantastic. We will be back! Thank you!
We've dined at Dizz's As Is many, many times over the past 30+ years, and it has been consistently excellent, with only a few exceptions. On a few occasions service has been slow and it can be loud due to the small size of the dining rooms and closeness of the tables, but the food has always been very good. For years, Dizz's had been our favorite Orange County restaurant, due to its eclectic charm and outstanding food. It's still one of our favorites, and offers a distinctive dining experience. Prices are a bit on the high side, but the food preparation justifies the cost. This is not fancy dining; just very good food in a rather unique setting. Go for the food and you won't be disappointed. Parking is a definite challenge, as the restaurant only has 3 parking spaces, so parking on PCH is often the only option, and it can be a bit of a hike to to the restaurant, but the experience will be worth the effort.
A cozy atmosphere nestled in your best friends home, with always consistently excellent food that nurses your soul. This restaurant is a classic staple of Laguna beach. Don't miss the veal piccata or Cornish game hen. Also, the daily specials are not to be missed. Fresh fish with delectable sauces are always on the menu. Cocktails and wine by the glass are top rated! Save room for dessert you want want to have everything on the dessert menu.
We've been big fans of Dizz's As Is for 36 years, recommending it to our friends and associates, and posting very favorable reviews on several social media sites. However, our last visit proved to be a huge disappointment. The services was intolerably slow, and the wait between courses inexcusably long. Among other issues, the bread arrived burnt, the waitstaff seemed inexperienced, and the serving size of the Swordfish Madagascar special was meager: a sliver of swordfish accompanied by a tablespoon size dollop of mash potatoes and 3 green beans (seriously, 3 green beans). For a restaurant known for generous portions, the swordfish was a joke. As I've written before, the food at Dizz's is always good, but this visit was marred by several issues, chief among them the inattentive and exceptionally slow service. Being long time fans of the restaurant, we found this very, very disappointing, especially since the evening was a family celebration. This is not an easy review to write, as this has been our favorite Orange County restaurant for years, but had this been our firsts visit, it would have also been our last. Even good restaurants might have a bad night, so I'm hoping that this bad experience was an aberration, but as of this writing, I am not inclined to go back soon.
Sorry to say, but we were totally underwhelmed by this restaurant. We really wanted to like it but it just didn't hit any of the marks. Service was friendly but SLOOOOOOOW. Parking is a nightmare. We ordered rack of lamb, filet and couple other items and everything was subpar. I would not recommend this restaurant. Bummer.
