DiVino Wine Studio Ratings and Reviews
It was our first time at DiVino and we will be back for sure. Service was excellent (pleasant, professional, knowledgeable), good recommendation for wine pairing, and we enjoyed our meal. Best beef tartare we’ve had in a long time! Open kitchen concept is also very cool: kitchen is surrounded by a large « chef’s table » / bar. We will be back!
It's great to have the choice of sitting at the 'group' table right next to the kitchen or choosing a small table, giving more privacy. The restaurant was not busy when we went, which is very rare. So it was on the quieter side, which we prefer. The deconstructed soup was delicious - hard to believe it wasn't cream based, it was so smooth. My son had the duck. He really enjoyed it. My friend had the gnocchi. The waiter highly recommended these two dishes. The gnocchi is on the heavier side but was delicious and the portion was perfect. I had the salmon. It was seared on the outside and very rare on the inside. I would have preferred it a little more done but was afraid it would get over done so I didn't complain. Although the restaurant is known for pairing the wine with the food, none of us took advantage of this feature.
My friend and myself went to DiVino for a dinner on a Saturday night to catch-up. The atmosphere was perfect. The service attentive and the food great. We had Olive all'ascolana to share, delicious. I had a scamorza as antipasto and the signature DiVino gnocchi as main course... great! I have to add that they offer wine paring with each dish.
Service and ambiance are great. Food was OK to good, but well below expectations. The biggest deception was "what you get for what you pay". I have a problem with paying $17 for eight bites of noodles with pesto sauce... In my opinion, many restaurants would offer similar to better food for a fraction of the cost.
Was surprised by how ordinary it was. Very small portions for price charged, gazpacho not as described, pasta overly salty, steak very ordinary, black stain (mould?) on one slice of bread, service quite slow (very friendly, but still slow). Have eaten there many times before and always a good experience, which is why i was so surprised this time. Has the chef changed?
Food overall interesting and very good. It's not cheap - the pasta though good would have been $17 for a small portion had they not reduced the price because it was so very salty. Duck confit was excellent. Wines are interesting and priced fairly. Service was great!
This restaurant was a disappointment. I chose it because of the reviews on Open Table. The restaurant has an open kitchen and the large Vent hood was not working particularly well. When anything was prepared on the grill, the room filled with smoke and kitchen odors. Since it was not busy on this visit this smoke would go away and come back when the next orders were prepared. The service tried to be too ostentatious by trying to make dishes sound better than grilled potatoes and meat. The wine list was fine but again the service tried to say everything we ordered was their favourite. The Nero D'Avola was OK but not anything to write home about. I had just returned from Sicily and had drank many better bottles. The dining chairs were uncomfortable. This restaurant should not be as highly rated at it is on Open Table.
This was my first visit to DiVino Wine Studio and I will definitely come back. The service was excellent and very attentive. The food was amazing and they have a wonderful selection of Italian wines. The gnocchi was perfect, the sirloin was done to perfection and the panna cotta was the perfect ending to my meal. I would highly recommend this restaurant and look forward to returning.
DiVino was recommended to me by a co-worker. I booked a table for a special get together and we were all pleased with the choice. They had a special seasonal meal on which was great value for money and every course was delicious. We tried a few wines and each was fantastic and always well presented to us. I liked that we were sat at the chef's table and could see in to the kitchen and watch the chef prepare the food. Will definitely go back!
One of the greatest fine dinning in Ottawa. Owned by the awesome Eric, he is there to make your experience exceptional.
The experience we had was perfect. From the moment we entered, Eric personally attended our table. Some of us asked for cocktails not included in the menu and he went out of his way to prepare what we asked for! After dining, he joined us to take pictures and celebrate a friend's birthday!
In terms of the quality of the foods, very luscious and diverse choices. I didn't opt in for a 5 course. Instead my partner and I went for the grilled Mozzarella and wrapped smoked prosciutto for the appetizer and the duck for the main course! They were both absolutely phenomenal and exactly the kind of gastronomic dish I was looking for in a restaurant.
I also tasted my friends five course and I was impressed with their cucumber soup. Who would have thought cucumber soup would taste great.
I wasn't impressed with their beer selection, and absolutely not with the price of the beer ($23 for a mediocre 750 ml beer 🍻), but I guess I shouldn't have had beer in an italien restaurant and of course it did not change my 5/5 opinion about the restaurant and Eric!
Everything about this experience was great. From the friendly waitress, the beautiful atmosphere and decor to the nice presentation of the food and it's deliciousness. I definitely recommend it for a get together with friends to catch up, enjoy a nice meal, sipping wine, sharing plates in a pleasant environment.
