District Kitchen and Cocktails
So come in, relax, grab a drink and some food and hang out with friends in what we like to call New American Cuisine. After all, great food and great drinks go best with great company!
Great food and, as always, great service! My husband and I usually ride our bicycles there on the weekends for brunch, since it is very close to our house. We recently ate there for their New Year's prix fixe menu and it was also awesome!
We love District and Oasthouse and I'm sure this was an isolated occurrence being New Years Eve. We have no problem paying the price for delicious fresh food. We are both fairly adventurous when it comes to trying new flavors and such and both restaurants have been great for this. The NYE menu was overall pretty plain and the serving sizes for $75/person were small. We will definitely be returning to District, just not on a night with a Prix Fixe menu.
My fiancé and I went to district kitchen for New Year's eve, the service was excellent. District kitchen always has the best staff most friendly and most helpful. Everything was perfect, and our food was really good as always. Try the shishito peppers, for an appetizer. They were amazing!
A wonderful modern, low lighting, but comfortable atmosphere. The menu is seasonal, so lots of fresh ingredients in the food and creative dishes. The employees are all polite and efficient, too! The nutella mousse really stood out. Sprinkled sea salt and candied orange zest really made it fantastic. The bartenders are great at doing mocktails, too! Trust them and you will get a unique drink.
My experience with The District has been universally good. But when I see flecks of red pepper and ask is a dish is "spicy", I expect to hear, "Maybe a little". If I had been told that, I would not have tasted the squash bisque. For folks who are not sensitive to spice, I guess this would not have been a problem. But for me, it definitely was. I should have sent it back, but I was hungry, so I just decided to grin and bear it. On a more positive note, the beet salad was delicious, but the $10 price tag for the size of the salad was a bit excessive. Perhaps a $10 salad at dinner would have been more acceptable? And that makes sense, b/c The District is usually only open for lunch/brunch on weekends. Fortunately, the restaurant was pretty empty, so it was quiet, but when there are more people present, it gets pretty noisy.
Service was somewhat slow tonight. 45 minutes to get our entrees. Mahi-mahi with risotto was good as was the bison burger.
The staff were wonderful from the front desk to the table. We felt welcome and were very well served. The food is delicious at District / I've never eaten anything there that I didn't just love!
This is my third time here. Fantastic experience. The food was phenomenal , the server's wine recommendation was spot on to go with our meal, and the atmosphere is a neat rustic/urban feel and it's just awesome! For as high quality as the food is, the price is lower than I expected! Highly recommended.
This is one of my favorite places to go since it's down the street from us. The ambiance is great, love the industrial feel of the restaurant but it's still good for a romantic night out or even a group of friends gathering up for dinner.
The dinner and ambiance for my parents 55th wedding anniversary was perfect. The food was amazing! Everyone in our party had something different and all were very pleased with their delicious entree. Wine was good as well. Thanks for a great evening.
Food was excellent. Tracy was a fabulous waitress. We had a wonderful time!
I love The ambiance of this place. Food was good. We all liked it. I would say it was great because there are few things that are just ok. I got a sandwich and it was burned and potatoes were kind of cold. Otherwise it tasted good. We had a good time there :)
I really want to like this restaurant. I love the food. I have had some of the most memorable food of my life there. For real. I just cannot abide with the crowded seating. I made an early dinner reservation for 2 so we got a 2-top squished between two large tables. It's not that we are talking about state secrets or anything but I could hear everything the other two tables were saying so I am sure hey could hear us too. I was disappointed that someone who went to the trouble to make a res was given one of the worst tables. I get it - it's a small restaurant and they want to maximize seating - but I hate it. I want to be able to have a conversation and not be at a table with two other parties. If I wanted communal seating I would go to Pint House. I don't. I am really. It sure how to reconcile this. I love the food and abhor the seating. We aren't in SoHo. Make the seating better!
The food was amazing!
One of my favorite restaurants in Austin! Still a bit of a secret since it isn’t close to downtown, but worth going a bit out of my way for. Hopefully they expand more locations!
Great place! Wonderful to sit outside on the patio for happy hour!
We enjoyed our meal at District but there was nothing spectacular about it. The ambiance inside was great and there was a one man band on the outdoor patio. The service was attentive. It's definitely a neighborhood gem.
Was delicious from start to finish! The lamb and the Wagu steak were super yummy!
Everything was spot on, hostess greeted us with beautiful smile, server guided us through the menu and was there whenever we needed, food was spot on and service was prompt (our server was Edgar P). It was our first time and we will be back.
We live in the neighborhood and never paid attention to this place, glad we found it and will be back soon. You will have to look for the place not a whole lot of signs to locate from road. Love the ambiance. Patio seating is perfect for oct weather.
We have been here many times before, and the cosistent quality can't be beaten. I've had nearly everything on the menu and never been disappointed. Great job!
Great neighborhood dining and we live the patio
I loved the pork osso!
District just changed their menu to a new fall version. While we understand the need to change and give customers a new and fresh menu, several items should have been kept including the prime ribeye.
We were seated promptly upon arrival. However, no one acknowledged us at our table until more than 5 minutes later when our server approached and asked if anyone had spoken to us yet? I politely advised that no one had done so, so he apologized and started our service.
We were provided a small, free appetizer of eggplant hummus with 4 small pita toast points. I don't know if this is standard, or was an apology for the initial delay in service. But it was quite tasty.
We each ordered a soup and an entree. The soup was very good (I can't recall now what flavor it was). My associate ordered the Rosso buck while I got the shrimp and grits. The Rosso buck was very good, although I have had more tender versions. But the flavor was nice.
The shrimp and grits was also good, though I have had a bit better. There was also a slight delay in delivering our entrees, though nothing was ever said by the staff.
The wine list was decent, and we were each able to select a wine by the glass with which we were content.
Overall, I found this to be a very good, but not quite excellent, restaurant. The service had a couple of small stumbles, though beyond the unexplained delays was very good. The food was good - not the best ever, but good nonetheless. While the restaurant is a bit far out for someone staying in downtown, I think it was worth the $24 RideAustin trip. This is a place that I would say again (which is my ultimate criteria for whether I like a place!)
Good food and drinks. Bad signage.
We stopped in District Kitchen with our grandchildren. We are new to the Circle C area and had not tried DC yet. The kids are picky eaters but there were options for everyone. Food was excellent as was the service. I also had a conversation with the manager about a rare bourbon which was on the bar menu. He was knowledgeable and informative. I enjoyed the talk.
I am absolutely in love with District, it's my new date night hangout. Great atmosphere, knowledgable staff, and amazing food and drinks.
Hidden gem, quite a treat
Noise level was off the charts! And we could hardly hear each other talk!!! Very disappointing!!!!
Nice ambiance, good food and a creative chef. We live nearby and it is so nice to have a great place to go in our own neighborhood.
We took friends on a Sunday evening who had never been to the Districe before and they thought it was a great "find". All of us are retired (our friends at a young age, ourselves only recently) and we all eat out more days in the week than not so we are always trying something new. It was a particularly fabulous meal this evening. I had the Nawlins BQ Shrimp & Grits and had forgotten what a delicious dish it is. My husband had the Airline Chicken and thought it was the best he has had anywhere. One of our friends had the Trout, which she raved about and the other had the 20oz bone-in pork chop, which was unbelievably huge, but tender and delicious. Everything is locally sourced and the wine list has some very fine offerings. In short, we will all be returning again and again.
Very average meal. Ordered a meal recommended by the server to then be told they were out of it. Disappointing way to start a meal. Both entrees were fine, not bad but not great either. Dessert was the star of the show. The fruit crumble was delicious.
Its A Beautiful Place un A Beautiful location. We got sat in a timely manner (we did make reservations). Food was good, I loved my dish however my husband wasn't too impressed. We were there for Sunday brunch. It was y busy and there were quite a few families with kids. It's a great neighborhood place. Service was ok, the waitress wasn't too attentive and we didn't see much of her. Overall it's a great place and I love that they do farm to table!!!! We will be back
Excellent service and great food. My husband loves their shrimp & grits!
So far, every menu item we have tried has been quite flavorful and interesting. Service has also been professional and pleasant.
Loved the food and the service. Beautiful interior. Music was WAY TOO loud so difficult to hear one another at times.
District Kitchen was delightful! The food was awesome and the cocktails were delicious!
CHEF AMIR IS THE BEST! I have many, many, many, food allergies, and he came out to discuss and made sure he could accommodate my needs. He was professional, and made me feel like it was not even the slightest inconvenience. (That's a rare experience for the most part.). I'd recommend this pace to EVERYONE I know!
This was my second visit to District and I took my mother there for her birthday so I wanted this to be a perfect night. Our server was attentive but the service overall was excruciatingly slow. It took almost 25 minutes to get drinks for all four of us at the table and our entrees came out before our apps. After making a stink about this disappointing reality we did get our apps comped and boxed and management made things right by buying us dessert and pouring champagne for the table. The night overall was pleasant and the food was good but I do wish they could have gotten things right the first time around. A big thank you to management for proactively stepping it up to make things right.
We really enjoyed it, but the drinks took forever to come out. Although the food was fantastic!
