We went on a very cold Sunday night of a holiday weekend. Even though it was quite empty, it took about 20 minutes for someone to take our drink order, and I had to stop a waiter who seemed frustrated that I had. Food okay but very overpriced.
Great live band, playing during Saturday and Sunday brunch.
Duck is delicious!
This restaurant is amazing. The food was delicious. The wine was outstanding. The service is the best part. We described to our waiter what we were looking for and he completely helped us figure out what to order. When it came to the wine, the man was completely understanding of our price range and helped us select the perfect dish. My cousin and I left there completely satisfied and will definitely be returning.
Beautiful room, cozy atmosphere, great service, delicious food. The only negative was a lack of a vegetarian option for a main course.
Great experience this evening. We had tried for Carbone after the nets game but they were fully booked. Dirty French was our second option and was phenomenal. We had the tuna tartare, and grilled oysters to start, and then had the Black Sea bass for meal. Incredible. Server and hosts were great, and even though the restaurant started closing, they were kind enough to allow us to finish our beverages and also invited us to continue in the lounge area. Great time. Will definitely be back.
Great food and great service. Only issue is that it is too cramped. They fit too many two person tables in such a small area. I literally backed out of my seat and backed into someone that was seated at a close table behind me.
Live music was great but hard to catch up with friends, hard to hear.
We waited over an hour to sit after 945pm reservations
Got a table 45 min after reservation time. Nice and fun hosts and staff. Nice ambiance with fun vibe. We did not think the overall food quality, though good, was enough to offset the long wait and spotty service. We had high expectations. It was good overall but not fantastic.
We made reservations and sat for a party of five. About 1.5-2 hours later, they rushed us to give up our table because bc it’s due for the next party. A bit unusual for a nice place and a $600 bill, as we were still ordering coffees and drinks.
Food was putrid and overpriced. They insisted we eat more or we’d be hungry, we didn’t even touch some of it, and when we did some of it was ok, but some of it was putrid and I could smell it from far away
Food was ok, not what we expected
Wasn't expecting the live band during Brunch which was nice but a little loud, but we made do with bloody mary's and some shouting. Otherwise the food and service are excellent.
I don’t eat meat and they run out of most seafood dishes. Side of Brussels sprouts we got was so over cooked, they were mooshy! Not coming here again.
Great food, great ambience, great service
Great food and service. Music is all music from the 80s- Jump by VanHalen etc. Not great to dine to but overall had a good dinner none the less.
The best dishes are no more! We went to Dirty French for the chicken dish for two and were so disappointed that it was changed. It is no longer served with crepes and they no longer fry the dark meat pieces. That was what Dirty French was famous for! And the peas are gone too.
The grilled oysters and the tuna tartare were amazing!
Nice, fun, hip place with beautifully prepared food and attentive staff.
The first server was great. Then I had food literally taken from me as I was eating, and I had to find 3 servers to finally bring our dessert
The quality of the food is really falling here.
Love this restaurant! And will come back the next time I’m in NY
Great as always.
We never fail to have an outstanding dining experience at Dirty French. It is a favorite!
Service was outstanding. The Croque Monsieur was outstanding. The French Dip was very good. The meat was slightly overcooked and the au jus was too thin. It should have been thicker which would have given it more taste.
The amuse bouche was outstanding.
Dirty French is a great place to go for a dinner date, celebrate a special occasion, or catch up with old friends! The food was delicious, the service was better than most restaurants & they have some great vino on their wine list!
Once the restaurant was full, got busy...it seemed like our server was a bit “stretched”, but he never forgot about us, it was just difficult to get his attention.
I would highly recommend this restaurant!
A fun evening
The $98 prix fixe menu for Christmas 2018 was very limited, unimaginative in the mains, and quite expensive considering what you got. The service was indifferent and slow: I would not go again on a holiday, as they seemed overwhelmed, and the staff gave the impression of wishing they were somewhere else.
We went to Dirty French on Xmas Eve. It hits the sweet spot between sophisticated and cozy, special and comfortable, and in terms of food, classic but with modern twists. The tuna tartare with bird's eye chili was delicious. I normally don't order chicken at restaurants, but the chicken for two came highly recommended and it didn't disappoint. I highly recommend this restaurant.
I appreciated the complimentary pastries. Everything else was ok
Careful--they tried to seat us in the garden away from the main room. It was barren with a few unfortunate souls looking lost and dejected. We said no thanks and they seated us in the main room. Loud and full of 30 somethings. Food ok. Overpriced for what it was. The duck was a couple of little strips of breast. But it's a scene that a lot of people want to be a part of so it has a festive feeling.
Our food was cooked well and it was very tasty
Two expensive for just a steak The ambiance sympa but not smth extra
Food here was absolutely fantastic. Had high expectations and was not disappointed. Had the lamb carpaccio which was fabulous. My mom got the scallops and says they were the best she’s ever had
Our table was not ready so we had drink at the bar which is crowded with people eating - I wish they had sent us to the back bar lounge instead. We ate in the garden which is lovely, nice lighting. Food was very good.
Oyster appetizer was delicious and original. Wine list is light on bottles under $100, but plenty of choices above $1000! It's too dark inside, the typeface on the menu is too light and the tiny little candles on the table are useless for reading.
Fantastic food. Peppers and sardines and duck are terrific
The service was terrible. Took over 45 min to get two basic dishes and half the restaurant was empty. The hostess (or manager) was extremely disrespectful to her employees and had no qualms speaking loudly and rudely in front of customers. Wasn't worth the wait...
Appalling live music ruined the ambience and our enjoyment of food and company
