What Insiders Are Saying
The new and improved Dirt Candy location on the Lower East Side is bigger and shinier. And it’s still really, really good.
Must try if a vegetarian - take someone you love or share it with someone open to new experiences! Experimental, imaginative dishes with warm staff
Loved my second visit to Dirt Candy. The menu is inventive and delicious. Wine pairing on point. The wine is sourced from women-owned wineries. Service effective and very friendly. Highly recommended to anyone, even if you don't like vegetables.
The Food was delicious and interesting, but the menu for lunch was really small. The service was not very heartily.
Amazing dinner. Have been a half dozen times over the years and it is always impressive.
Interesting and inventive and a great place for vegetarians seeking a unique meal. Still, VERY expensive for entirely vegetable based foods. Although the plating was phenomenal, this was a one time experience for us.
Amazing dining experience, food exceeds expectations
Great experience with the food and the staff. The wine pairing was on point!
Our dinner was fabulous - so delightful and inventive. The wine pairings were phenomenal and the service was perfect. Every course in the pre-fixe was so interesting. The desert course was kind of meh but only because the rest was so stunning. Highly recommend this place for a special night out!
Absolutely amazing Valentine’s Day meal with my girlfriend.
Jackie the General Manager was absolutely outstanding, as was the food and service.
Bar none the best meal I’ve had all year; on par with Bohemian, Legacy Records, and Frenchette, of not better. This is a RESTAURANT, not a “vegetarian restaurant.”
Happy to be welcomed in such a wonderful way on such a lovely occasion.
I absolutely loved Dirt Candy and would definitely return & highly recommend it. I celebrated my hubby’s birthday & he loved it as well. It was our first time & we can’t say thank you enough for the amazing food & customer service.
Fantastic. Great service, great food, great drinks. I would highly recommend. The 9 course meal takes about 2 hours, take this into consideration.
Solo Diners Week is amazing!
Wonderful experience. Creative menu and friendly staff.
First time at this location and first time having brunch menu. Both were lovely. Dirt Candy never disappoints.
Delightful tasting menu. Innovative cuisine, in a refined setting. Would highly recommend for the vegetarian or meat-eater alike. Particularly lovely for a special occasion.
What a beautiful little
Restaurant. Amazing food and a friendly ambiance.
Great food and awesome experience. The staff was especially engaging and provided excellent service.
Food was very good. We did the wine pairings with our dinner. Wish the servers would have been a little more clear in their explanation of what we were eating and drinking.
Service was amazing, all of the prix fixe menu tasted unique and delicious. Couldn’t even tell you’re eating vegetarian and was plenty of food. Price is worth it
Definitely a fun unique experience. Food and waitstaff were very friendly and helpful.
Dirty Candy is amazing. It is one of the finest dining experiences I've had in NYC, vegetarian or otherwise. Very inventive dishes that will surprise and delight you. I don't want to ruin the treat by going into details of what we loved there! Instead I'll just say: do yourself a favor, treat yourself and try it.
Was one of my best meals of the year. Had waited a while to work out getting to the city and getting a reservation but the meal was totally worth it. Not a wrong note struck. From the service to the setting to the food — it was an outstanding experience. If I lived in Manhattan I’d definitely be a regular. I did the full on pure vegan large tasting option and it was amazingly flavorful, rich, layered, exciting and delicious. The courses were timely, presented and explained with care and had whimsy without sacrificing any flavor. Bravo.
A fine dining version of the former Zen Palate - perfect for a special occasion, as the fixed-price is expensive (tip is included). Oddly, the more expensive option is the same quantity of food (more small and medium plates), and everything is share, so all must pick the same option. For a first time, definitely pick the classic menu option so you can decide whether to splurge with the more expensive variety option on the next visit. Very happy that the desserts weren't super sweet but still tasty. Every item a hit!
inventive and fun, good for people who love their veggies and those who don't
I smiled all the way through our eight courses. The food was delicious and creative. The presentation and service made me feel special. We had dishes we never imagined and enjoyed every bite.
Amazing food, atmosphere - such a special experience all round. Highly recommend for anyone to try it!
Awesome preparations and great service! Simply amazed with what was done with veggies. From starters to desserts. And very accommodating.
Exceptional service and creativity.
Your meal is not just delicious but a unique experience.
Cannot wait to return.
Last time I went to Dirt Candy was five years ago at their old location, which was tiny. I remembered it as the best meal I’d ever had, so I wasn’t sure if it would live up to my memories (absence makes the heart grow fonder, after all) but I was blown away! Intricate, unique, complex flavours and amazing service. I had the vegetable garden: a spectacularly creative and playful menu.
This carnivore went along with my better half to this restaurant. She was excited to try their menu.
Dirt Candy's brunch exceeded both our expectations. While the meal hasn't yet convinced me to turn into a vegetarian, it certainly shows how meat proteins do not have to be the centerpiece of a great meal.
This was my second time having brunch at Dirt Candy. I love the innovation of vegetarian dishes here! I loved the squash biscuit with pumpkin butter and jalapeno jam... We also ordered the French toast and kale waffles with roasted potatoes — everything was delicious. Service was friendly and excellent. Can't wait to come back.
We had the tastiest brunch!
We really loved our experience at Dirt Candy. Being a vegetarian I feel many chefs think when making a vegetarian meal “what can be a meat substitute?” As apposed to just celebrating vegetables and bounties of the season. Dirt Candy did just that and more! My smoked beet sandwich was incredibly flavorful, and my niece loved her fish of carrot crumpets and grape syrup.
Thank you for a memorable meal!
Dirt Candy was an unexpected delight! As an omnivore, I didn’t miss meet. While I enjoyed some dishes more than others (that Korean fried broccoli 😍), there were no misses. The only near-miss for me was the cauliflower cake. It was good but there was a distinct cauliflower taste I just couldn’t get past. I enjoyed the celery spritzer and the iced tea, too. Next time, I think I’d go with the wine pairing as well.
Excellent dining experience!!! Service was impeccable, food was tasty and great conversation starters, I will definitely be returning!!!
wonderful service. food quite good. we will b back...
Sorry outside decor somewhat odd and cheap looking, passing this place from the outside u would never know its ambiance and servers are so great.
Amazing as always!! Staff superb, food out of this world, wish we could eat here five times a week!!
Innovative and beyond tasty cuisine. Professional, attentive and super friendly staff. Ranks in the top 3 meals I’ve ever eaten, hands down. Perfection.
Yes it’s expensive, but it’s not every day you get to go to a place where so much thought has been put into everything, from the silverware and plates cleared between corses on little napkin-lined trays to dishes presented in adorable miniature watering cans. Hands down the best meal I’ve had in New York. Skip the wine pairing and go for the cocktails instead. We each had two for the price of one wine pairing and left quite, but not uncomfortably drunk.
