We were very disappointed with our experience, I have been here many times in the past and the quality has gone down. Food was good, yet service and overall experience not worth the cost. Reserved a table way in advance, when arrived was seated at bar when asked about table I receive a rude and quip response that did not make sense. Did not appreciate treatment overall and food was average so did not make up for service experience. Dedicated client in the past, but I will officially never return nor recommend.
Fabulous experience! Our first visit won't be our last. And Wesley was wonderful at explaining everything and answering our questions.
Delish food and beautiful presentation.
Excellent vegetarian tasting menu. Everything was excellent. Would have opted for cocktails instead of the wine tasting if I were doing it over though.
My favorite restaurant. The food is incredible. I especially love the broccoli and the mushroom dessert.
If every vegetarian food is like this, then I'd consider turning vegetarian. Truly remarkable and inventive. There was always a surprise with every course. Bravo to the chef for her inventive ways in elevating vegetables, and yet keeping their integrity. I mean: cauliflower cake for dessert!!
I would definitely recommend Dirt Candy but part of the fun is the surprise. So if you visited within the last few months you will not have the fun of surprise. We had a meal in July and in November. It was disappointing to see so little change in the tasting Garden menu. I guess we will have to wait for a year to go there next.
We had great dinner. The 65$ per person tasting menu. And each dish was a new surprise: the brocoli starter was sooo good! And the cauliflower cake at the end with chocolate was just so unexpected and supreme!!!
Loved the experience
Perfect as always. So excited to hear about Lekka. Can't wait to try this
The menu is so innovative and fresh, there wasn’t a single dish I did not love. Great stafff, ambiance and food. I would highly recommend.
Wesley, our server, was incredible
AmaIng food, Amazing Service, great atmosphere
We tried their 9 course Vegan Tasting menu. All we can say is - Excellent food & Excellent service! Staff was exceptional
I LOVE coming here. I try to visit NYC once or twice a year, and this restaurant is always on my To Do List.
The food is incredible! And, although I enjoy their staple dishes (hello Brussels sprouts tacos!), I am always surprised by a new dish that I hadn’t tried before. This time, it was a cauliflower cake with cauliflower buttercream that swept me off my feet (recipe please!!!).
One change I found this time around was that a la carte orders are no longer possible at the Chef’s Counter. The restaurant offers two fixed price menu options for all patrons, but you could order a la carte when you sat at the Chef’s Counter – which is where we always sit. But, sadly, not anymore. I realize there’s an element of surprise which makes the meal more special when you don’t know what’s coming next. But, I’m a control freak, and I’d like to make sure I’m getting what is best from the menu based on my personal taste. It was just a nice thing to be able to have.
But, as always, we had an amazing, special meal.
We’ll be back (hopefully soon)!!
Incredible and jnnovative food experience. Highly recommend.
Especially impressed by vegan desserts
Friendly professional staff and fantastic food always a destination when we are in New York.
As a longtime vegetarian, I thought I knew lots about the possibilities of vegetables. But Dirt Candy totally floored me with its creativity and whimsy. Such an amazing experience!
Everything was excellent. Very interesting dining experience.
Outstanding experience from start to finish. We had our 3 year old along with us and staff were able to accommodate him with options from the bar menu alongside our prix fixed dinners. Great food, eve greater service. We'll definitely be back next time we're in NYC!
Great restaurant--we've have wanted to go for years and missed the original location The new digs are really great, the chef (owner?) special, the team-service top notch, the vibe very cool. All of it.
Wonderful dining experience !!!
Lovely restaurant with charming staff. Food was delicious and special. Where else can you get cauliflower cake!
Presentation was whimsical and even the restrooms were fabulous
Great service and amazing food.
I thought that only having two options was a bit restrictive. I found the noise level to be too high making it difficult to have a conversation. I was there with another person. I didn't like that we were for most courses given a serving to share. I would have vastly preferred that we were given individual portions.
Terrific food in a small but pleasant space. Speedy happy service.
The service here was impeccable. We did the 5 courses with the wine pairing and everything was perfectly timed and the food was exquisite.
Graceful and Sincere
The food and service was wonderful! They even sneaked in some veggies into desert. I made a note that it was my girlfriend’s birthday at the time of booking, so the desert came with a candle, which was a very nice and thoughtful touch. Will definitely go again in the future
Dirt Candy still continues to wow and amaze. From the moment you walk in, you are transformed to a world within a world. The staff does everything it can, including reading the tempo of your party, to making sure you know everything about what your mouth and senses are about to experience. Every bite of food that is sampled had complexity and savory flavors that transport you to a new experience. Don't miss the opportunity to experience such a treasure in NYC.
Great food, awesome ambiance, delicious desserts. Highly recommend!
Fantastic, quirky foods served in fabulous ways. Every course different, clever, delicious. Ah, the vegetarian caviar.... Looking forward to going again. Expensive but not really when you factor in that you get everything, get great service and no tipping.
Coming to Dirt Candy is always a pleasure. The service is truly on par with places like Per Se and Eleven Madison Park. The staff are so welcoming and accommodating, they even switched out a dish for us on the prix fixe menu because it wasn't my favorite, and replaced a course with one of our favorite treats. The menu was inventive and delicious, it is filled with surprises and really thoughtful, sometimes whimsical touches. The staff really make this a special place, we have been coming for years and still see familiar faces. Definitely recommend the prix fixe menu for dinner, although I always love their brunch biscuits as well!
Good but somewhat of a disappointment. Food was ok, but was expecting much more.
They need to bring back al la carte.
I was really let down by my experience. Had been wanting to go for ages. Booked a table for dinner with a friend. Was a rainy night and arrived about 15 minutes before our rez time. Greeters were very rude and told us our table wasn’t ready so we asked if there was a place we could wait and they just pointed without saying anything to a table behind them. No mention of how long or if we could or should order a drink. We sat for a while and no one helped us. Then finally they sat us at the “kitchen table” which is a bar/counter. We were kind of bummed bc we wanted to talk and not sit side by side. We noticed several tables for 2 open so I asked if we could possibly be sat at one. The response was NO. When I asked again if they could check they just said NO again and “that’s what you booked”. When I said that “no I had not” they said yes it says on open table that’s what you booked. I tried to remain calm and just walked back to my friend. We decided to stay. It was about 15 minutes before anyone helped us. Including one of the greeters who then said very rudely that if we wanted a table we could possible have one if we waited another 20 minutes. We said no and then our drink order was finally taken. My friend ordered a mixed drink which came in about 5 minutes. My Champaign never showed up until I asked a random server for it. Our order was then taken and the food finally started coming out. It was beautiful but only mediocre. The buffalo cauliflower was prob the best part of the meal. The desserts were gross. We did the shorter menu and overall I was not impressed.
Definitely a great place. Super tasty food--hibachi grilled broccoli at your table--spicy sauces...chocolate mushroom....all so fresh , inventive, healthy and flavorful--really great..... excellent, friendly service
I wanted to come to this restaurant because, while I’m not strictly vegan or vegetarian, I’m an avid gardener and love fresh, local produce that is prepared in creative, innovative ways.
The mushroom paté was excellent and the cauliflower cake was pleasantly delightful.
5-stars for the chirping birds and nature sounds in the bathroom, too.
Amazing presentation, delicious and deceptively filling courses. Staff was very friendly and informative! Such an incredible and unique experience!
It was ok. Food was so mediocre and the desserts smelled onion and cauliflower. Dishes were not timely coming out and it was just a big disappointment.
This was by far one of the best dining experiences, if not the best, I have had in the city.
Second time to NY and we of course booked Dirt Candy before anything else. The artistic quality and deliciousness of the food is indescribable. It is a wonderful date place with romantic lighting and if nothing else, you can talk about the crazy food coming out. I love love, love them! Everyone is super friendly, the sommelier is knowledgeable and gives some great info about all of the eclectic wines, as I sit there and act like I know something (which I have no clue!) thank you again!!
