The new and improved Dirt Candy location on the Lower East Side is bigger and shinier. And it’s still really, really good.
I've been here twice before for dinner, but this was my first brunch at Dirt Candy. Everything was delicious, especially the french toast with peanut butter brittle! YUM! Service was excellent. Great vibe, great food, great company.
Absolutely wonderful evening. Great food, great staff, great value !
We both had the Vegetable Garden 9 course meal, we got so much food, there was nothing we tasted that we didn’t like! My husband is a vegetarian so he especially appreciated our experience there.
We had a great meal and on Friday December 14th! It was a great night out in NYC!!
Legit one of the best spots I've been too. It felt like a sprirtual experience. I took my fiance as an early Christmas present and he loved it too.
We have been to excellent high end vegan and vegetarian restaurants and this one missed the mark. Price point did not match innovative techniques with the exception of the carrot burger and the broccoli hot dog. Everything else disappointed - especially for the price point.
Loved this place - a really nice selection of dishes and great portion sizes. Staff were really sweet and then prepared a very cute ice-cream dessert with a candle when they found out it was my birthday. Thanks!
We've heard rave reviews about Dirt Candy for a long time but our visit there was a big disappointment. Ordered the corn grits with a side of fries, as well as the zucchini pancakes but were underwhelmed by both. I couldn't finish the corn grits as they were quite bland and not in a tasty way. By the time I got to the collards underneath the grits, they were just sour and unappetizing. The zucchini pancakes were overly sweet and covered with powdered sugar as well. There was no depth behind the food, and nothing made it stand out as a unique place that features vegetables as a highlight of the meal. The server also never brought over milk for the earl grey tea after we had requested it. Overall, the ambience of Dirt Candy was disappointing as well. We expected a hip contemporary place but it was a bit stark like a hotel restaurant with gaudy black stickers of flowers on the back wall. Not worth a second visit, as there are much better vegetarian joints in the city.
Delicious food. Perfect service. Made for a very nice evening.
The food was delicious and the presentation was inventive and creative. We had the 9 course which was a ridiculous amount of food but it was over almost two and a half hours of dining. There was never a feeling of being rushed. It is a good place for a special occasion.
Great special occasion dinner with friends of all eating styles! My partner and I are vegan and one of our close friends is gluten free. The team did an amazing job at accommodating for all of us! We also elected the wine pairing and highly recommend.
The carrot sliders are still by far the most amazing dish on their menu in my opinion. I've had them before the tasting menu and they still impress! It's challenging to find upscale vegan fare and they nailed it.
The food was good but the service was slow. Give yourself a couple hours for this place. Reservation was at 9. Get seated around 9:30 and left the place around midnight. We did the 9 course meal. The ambiance is great and presentation of food is good.
So happy to finally experience Dirt Candy! Creative artistic dishes with attentive staff all of whom were adept at explaining the ingredients and idea behind the textures and ingredients of each course presented. The space was appealing with a clean yet warm atmosphere. Smoothly run yet peaceful enough to enjoy focusing on my dinner date as opposed to the hectic clamour often accompanying popular restaurants.
Great vegetarian dining experience. Wonderful
Good and great service.
Excellent food, great service. An absolute delight for vegetarians.
The food was great. I love the creativity and the presentation. The customer service was outstanding. The only draw back was that we left smelling of food as it is an open kitchen.
Best Vegan food thus far ..... I was still full the next morning. That’s what I call comfort food. Still amazed by the desserts, wish I could be that creative.
Delicious and inventive!
Excellent vegan food. Will return and recommend it
One of the most unique dining experiences. Each plate was a thoughtful creation. The service was magnificent; each member of the staff showed a shared responsibility for our table.
Very surprised I enjoyed every bit of it. The food was creative and delicious
I have tried the brunch on several occassions and it is always delicious. I love the squash biscuits so much I ordered some to go and had one this morning. It is heaven on earth. I love Dirt Candy!
Excellent time with a nice touch of Canada
This is hands down the best restaurant in Manhattan. I am not a vegetarian, but the meals I have had here have been the best I have ever had. We live UWS, so location is hard, but this is our go-to special occasion spot, or whenever we are in the area. Please open another uptown!!!
Absolutely amazing experience. A solurge but worth it!
Food here is a work of art-so beautiful, nourishing and delicious ....We did the veggie patch, and will define be back to do the veggie garden next time!
Outstanding. We celebrated our Honeymoon / first anniversary here and couldn’t have picked a better place. The prix fixe menu is phenomenal. We enjoyed the five courses so much that we booked a brunch before we left! Staff are excellent, and the dishes are inventive and incredible. If we lived in New York, we would dine here often. Definitely a must stop. Broccoli Dogs, Brussel sprout tacos, cauliflower cake, and squash biscuits were some of our favourites. Thank you for a fabulous few meals!
Great restaurant, excellent ambiance, staff, food and drink. Go!
My only issue is we were next to an employee at the bar who was off his shift and wouldn’t leave us alone to eat and enjoy. He seemed drunk and was obnoxious.
Maybe don’t get drunk where you work and annoy customers?
Creative and just plain fun for a date and I could see this for a business meeting. I’ve been for a Birthday and did the Vegtable Patch. It was more than enough food and wonderful preparation with great service! I’ve been back and will go again
My second visit ever
Still enjoy the food but loved the original site more
It is very good
Absolutely amazing! Biscuits, scones, eggs, desserts- all absolutely amazing!
As always outstanding food and service. Our favorite restaurant.
We went to the restaurant in the evening and was offered the 5 course and 9 course option . We chose the 9 course that was superb. Only dissapointmrnt was that sprout taco’s were not part of this option. Although the restaurants menu changes regularly due to ingredients available it would be good to know at the start of the meal what the 9 course is going to be. We love surprises but 9 of them is a lot to take in. Despite this and it wasn’t a valid criticism the experience was wonderful and we came away very full and feeling positively content and happy. Thank you Dirt Candy you will be recommended over and over 5*
Loved the food! Such a creative and fresh outlook on vegetarian food that’s not trying to be a meat substitute. Service was fantastic and we were stuffed after the 5 course tasting menu!
Thank you, Dirt Candy, for being a part of our fourth anniversary of dating and my surprise proposal to my boyfriend. The waitstaff was fantastic and kept things low key, just what we wanted. The food was incredible! Taste, presentation, all of it. What a special treat. We'll certainly be back for another special occasion someday!
best vegetarian restaurant in the country. what chef Cohen is doing is amazing, innovative, and unique. she is truly an artist like the Andy Warhol of the kitchen world. I highly recommend this place even for the meat loving eaters, the experience is worth it.
Food was great, they really love what they do and it is notable, food is delicious, we had the 5 courses and it was more than enough. Desserts are great and everything. I really enjoyed it very much. It takes a long time to eat it all, so if you go take at least 3 hours of
Your time to spend it there.
