About the restaurant
Riccardo was born in Florence, Italy and grew up in Boston, MA. Marybeth, a Sioux Falls native, ventured to the east coast as a nanny and then nursing school in Somerville, MA. The two met, fell in love, and became engaged on Martha’s Vineyard island. Moving back to Sioux Falls in 1999 and working at several area restaurants, they opened R Wine Bar in 2018. As owners of R Wine Bar, Riccardo and Marybeth are passionate about one thing: people. They believe that people don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care. With a curated wine list, local craft beer on tap, and beautifully executed menu, Riccardo and Marybeth are thrilled to bring R Wine Bar & Kitchen to the East Bank of Downtown Sioux Falls along with their General Manager, Jane Allen, Assistant Manager Bailey Bernal, Sous Chef Caleb Carr, Sous Chef Esteban Gonzalez, and Culinary Director Adam Schumacher.

Riccardo and Marybeth welcome you to their 3rd property, Maribella Ristorante. Opening R Wine Bar & Kitchen in 2018, and Vespa Catering and Brix Wine Bar in 2022, they have created a culture of hospitality for guests who feel like family. Riccardo was born in Florence, Italy and moved to Boston when he was 5-years-old. He stayed in the Boston area for college and attended Tufts University. Marybeth, born and raised in Sioux Falls, SD, moved to Boston to be a nanny and went to Somerville School of Nursing. The two met in Medford, MA, dated and became engaged in Oak Bluffs on Martha’s Vineyard in 1996. Relocating to Sioux Falls, SD in 1999, Riccardo and Marybeth have developed a reputation for making people feel welcome with their three boys, Dante, Berent, and Jaxon. Together with their hand-picked team, Riccardo and Marybeth bring the best parts of hospitality to life in their restaurants, for both their staff and guests. I had dinner there with four friends from Florida. Maddy was our waitress and do a fantastic job along with the food being awesome!

Our server Mason was amazing! Best lemon drop martini I’ve had. The food was also top notch. I had the Korean short ribs and the butternut squash crème brûlée… to die for! We didn’t love that there were slot machines about 15 feet away and you could hear everything going on in the casino, but the food and service made up for it!

We had 3 course meal from the prix-fixe menu that features smaller portions. Both beef tenderloin and salmon entrees were excellent. French onion soup and Tiramisu were absolutely delicious! The best restaurant in Deadwood in my opinion.

The food was delicious but be careful about the starters. We had 3 people in our group and ordered the scallops costing $25 but only received 2 on the plate. You think for $25 they could have given us each one. Food took awhile to get to us and slow on refilling the water glasses. But the food was delicious. Cost of the night very expensive.

We’ve always believed that dining should be a social occasion, a time when friends, family, and coworkers can enjoy great conversation over a great meal.

We believe in supporting our local artisans and staying connected to our Black Hills community. At a time when the area is growing and expanding, we are striving to keep the flavor of the region alive.

Inspired by the history of this area, both the aesthetics of the building and the diversity of the menu are true to our local roots, something no nation-wide franchise can duplicate. Certainly, there are other steakhouses out there, but none like ours.

From the first design to the actual construction, we have focused on creating a balance between upscale dining and a casual atmosphere-crafting a chic steakhouse where the kids are welcome too.

The rest is easy-buy the very best meat possible and prepare it correctly.

After asking several locals where to find the best steak in Rapid City, Dakotah consistently came up, and they were correct! The sides, sauces, dressings were all incredible and made in-house, which was evident. The filets were cooked perfectly as ordered, and the toppings did not overwhelm. Our server, Brandy, was lovely, excellent at her job, and gave us great recommendations for ordering, as well as some fantastic things happening around town. She helped make it one of our most memorable meals of the trip!
