This is one of my favorite restaurants in Vernon HIlls. The food is delicious and the menu offers a good mix of food that leans Indian but offers other options. My favorites include the Tikka Tacos both chicken and paneer, the Paneer Roasted Ravioli, and the Madeira Lemon Chicken Linguine. Others have enjoyed the pork chops, scallops, and the chicken skewers. A star of many dishes are the balsamic glazed carrots. The restaurant features an extensive wine list that includes many wines from a variety of vineyards. The restaurant is generous with tasting of wine so that patrons can get the wine they like. Service is personable and accommodating. Recently, they made an extra taco without cilantro for a guest who hated the cilantro that came with the entree. Portions are generous and the prices in line with nice restaurants.

Tavern is our special occasion place. We recently dined there for our anniversary. As always, everything was excellent. My filet was perfectly prepared and the sides were excellent. Our server was professional and knowledgeable about all aspects of the restaurant! It was also nice to to be able to dine on the second floor again! We will definitely be back!

The Barn Steakhouse is a “meat-centric hideaway” housed in a 19th century brick barn hidden away down an alley in the middle of Evanston. A homage to owner Amy Morton’s legendary father, restaurateur Arnie Morton (Morton’s Steakhouse), the menu boasts the finest quality ingredients available including table-side salad service and prime heritage Angus steaks. As The Barn's menu is ever-evolving, the exact menu may be different when you dine.

Featured in the Chicago Tribune and Evanston Now, The Barn is situated in a 19th century building, which was once a horse stable. Its entrance is accessible through the back alleyway for a unique experience. The intimate spot is accessible only through the alley and features soaring ceilings. This eatery also provides seating for up to 80 guests as well as outdoor seating in the winter garden.

The noise level at The Barn is a real problem. The food and service are outstanding, but the experience is not as pleasant as it could be, due to the noise. It is impossible to carry on a conversation without leaning forward and asking one's table partners to speak more loudly. We won't be returning because of it.

Excellent food! Attentive wait staff. Tasty cocktails. We sat in back under heat lamp. Tables are a bit small for 4 people and multiple dishes. We ordered 5 apps, 4 mains and all were delicious (apps calamari, buff cauliflower, shishito peppers, roasted peach and arugula salad, corn bisque. Mains: blue cheese burger, pad Thai, something with toasted black rice and another with big cubes of tofu - none disappointed). You will not miss the meat, I promise!
