This restaurant used to be one of my favorite. Changed up the style of cooking. Seems to have way too much nutmeg and or allspice. Not the restaurant that I knew. Very disappointed.
Service in staff were excellent
Fabulous service and ambiance. Being vegetarian, it was not too great in terms of options but the chef did a great job of dishes for our palate. That's the only reason for four stars, in sure most other folks would have a marvellous time here.
50th Wedding Anniversary
The main course took forever to come from the kitchen.
We got the tasting menu - so I get it that we are at the mercy of the chef for what we get but don’t send us home hungry for 105$/pp! Pieces of thin raw fish, one scallop, a small piece of duck and a bite of meat? - no sides. Our dinner was over 700$ with drinks and I ate cheez it’s when I got home. Bummer. The service was good, water was always full and friendly people.
Was disappointed after a previously outstanding dinner several months ago. The food was still good but the service was not very attentive and we got stuck in the tight corner of a nearly empty restaurant.
This is my favorite restaurant in Boston. Anytime someone comes to visit me or my parents are in town, I take them to Deuxave. I get the Lobster Gnocchi as a starter every time.
I have eaten at upscale french restaurants in both NYC as well as Walt Disney World; my a narrow margin, Deuxave is better. That should be enough to convince one to try...
for the second time eating at this restaurant we had a poor experience. We were seated in a corner table and felt ignored by our waiter all evening. The restaurant was already out of a basic entrée (chicken) at 7:30 pm. Once we made alternative choices, our main courses took over an hour to come, with no apologies or even heads-up warnings from the wait staff. We had to ask where our meals were. Although the "manager of the night" came over to apologize, it was less heart felt than it could have been, and no accomodations on the very expensive bill were made. Overall, this is the second time we have felt that the service was poor. The waiter is supposed to be the communication between the diner and the kitchen, but ours was missing in action, mentally and physically. Will not be dining here again soon.
Fantastic food and incredibly knowledgable service. Outside patio very scenic!
Excellent meal, service and ambiance. Went for birthday dinner, got the tasting menu and Deuxave exceeded our expectations. Amazing meal, and we will absolutely be back (soon!)
The food was incredible. The staff was very attentive and knowledgeable. Deuxave deserves a Michelin Star!
50th Anniversary Dinner. Manager and all staff bent over backwards for us, including a complimentary bottle of very fine wine. As we have had in the past, ordered the Chef's Tasting Menu: each course was superb. Notable in that each course was exactly the right size so at the end of the meal we had had just enough. Presentation was excellent.
We have been celebrating our anniversaries here for over a decade -- Our 50th was a meal made in heaven.
A lovely spot for a quiet dinner on a rainy night! I am not a big fan of so many different servers....I prefer a relationship with one person for the duration of a meal. They all did their job well.....just not my favorite style!
Loved our dinner at Deuxave. The food was delicious and the mood and ambiance of the restaurant is great. I would definitely recommend to others, but would point out that it is an expensive restaurant.
First time dining at Deuxave last Sat eve and we couldn't be happier. We had a wonderful experience. The heirloom melon salad was to die for as was the striped bass. My date thorough enjoyed his choices as well and wine and cocktails were wonderful. Our meal ended with an incredible cheese plate. The service was pleasant, professional, and overall very good. Can't wait to return to Boston. Highly recommend!
Lovely restaurant, but they were having some issues or were understaffed when we dined there. The waitstaff was not as attentive as one would expect at a restaurant of this caliber, and the food was extremely slow coming out of the kitchen (we even noticed staff apologizing to other tables for the delay).
Dinner with the Little extra in taste. Better than some Michellin Star Restaurants in Europa. Very good Service and a nice Pinot Noir. The Dessert came with dessert wine which was nice...
It was our 30th anniversary and the first time at Deuxave for either of us. My wife has a lot of dietary restrictions and she gave them a heads-up the day before. The result was probably the best dinner experience we've ever had. They were able to make adjustments where necessary to the 5-course wine-paired feast and everything was amazing.
Fantastic food. The service was a little slow, but the staff was exceptionally friendly. It made our anniversary dinner very special.
While the food is almost always great my experience last night was less than stellar. I eat here approximately once a month. The last 2 times I have dined here the service has been ok. Maybe because for years I had a rock star experience. The food was still good although the duck was well done rather than med rare. That could be because we waited almost an hour for our food. My daughter just moved to the neighborhood and I was hoping this would be our “go to place”. I am not so sure anymore
We had been meaning to try Deuxave for months. It came highly recommended by friends, and we were not disappointed. Everyone at our table of four had the gazpacho - a truly original take on an old favorite. Most of us ordered the scallops, and I had the striped bass with squid. We thoroughly enjoyed everything. Service was impeccable, friendly, and efficient. To make the evening perfect, we could all hear one another easily and converse without shouting. As frequent restaurant patrons, we rate Deuxave among the very best in the Boston area . . . and we will be back!
Everything was wonderful. We have dined there many times and it is always a great experience.
El pato es su platillo estrella. Una delicia!
the service was lovely - attentive but not stuffy. the menu was more interesting than most. The atmosphere was just right
Thank you so much! We had a lovely dinner. Everything was just right. The sommelier was very helpful with a wine pairing
Great service, great food. Flavors were well done and very fitting for summer. Produce was extremely fresh and flavorful
My wife, daughter and I recently had a marvelous dinner at Deuxave. I had fois grad followed by striped bass. Both were excellent. First rate wine list. We’ll be back!
Well prepared bistro food. Great service and a nice facility.
Excellent service, impressive wine selection. Food was wonderful. Great place to spend a nice occasion.
Excellent wine steward but overall slow service (with few tables filled). Our waiter, who was otherwise very professional and very nice, appeared to know little about wine (hence the wine steward), which should not be the case for a place this pricey. Food was beautifully plated but underwhelming; complex but on the whole, didn't really work. Prices are steep but ambience was wonderful - beautiful restaurant.
on the whole, seems like they are trying hard but when it comes to the food, still have a ways to go
Love Deuxave! It's a great place to go to celebrate a special occasion. The food is divine!!
What a delicious birthday dinner for my husband. I highly recommend this restaurant if you want a quiet and sophisticated dinner complete with fantastic food!
The food was overall pretty good. However, sometimes the chef wants to do too sophisticated dishes and adds plenty of unneeded touches to the dish. I had a steak which was good but there was to much different sauces, chutneys, sides and so on which do not make the steak any better. Sometimes simple is better. Same with the desserts, if you order a creme brulée, the creme brulée will be hidden under mousses, ice creams and other toppings that are useless and that you would see on a creme brulée in France.
The restaurant aspires to be French cuisine, but I think it is still pretty American (I'm French).
Also they make their own bread which is a good thing but it tastes like a pastry, they should try to bake a more European bread like a baguette or a ciabatta bread.
I wouldn't be so picky if I hadn't paid 120$ per head for this diner. When you pay the price, you expect the best!
Fabulous service and wonderful food. Always a pleasure to dine there.
Wonderful service from Eric and an awesome meal. I brought a friend for her birthday and both of us had fabulous meals.
superb meal all around. consistent from visit to visit.
Birthday celebration. We arrived a bit early but promptly seated. Great service. A discreet birthday wish. Delicious, innovative food.
always enjoy meeting friends here! thank you for incredible hospitality and a delicious meal from start to finish!
It was fabulous in every way!!
