Owner Brian Piccini and Chef/Owner Christopher Coombs are proud of their award winning Restaurant & Bar, Deuxave in the Back Bay. The inspiration behind the restaurant’s American Nouveau Cuisine is seasonality, with a focus on working with the finest farms and purveyors, sourcing out the freshest, local ingredients and amplifying their magnificence. The cuisine is strongly rooted in the nouvelle techniques of contemporary French cuisine, married with the splendor of American ingredients in a refined, but casual setting. Deuxave’s (pronounced doo-ave) name plays homage to its location at the corners of Commonwealth Ave and Massachusetts Ave.

Deuxave is a real gem of a restaurant! Great modern French cuisine, but without the pretentiousness one might find in other establishments. Dishes are clean, balanced and delicious.

We arrived early to enjoy a drink at the bar (and warm up from the cold outdoors). Our server was very friendly and informative and a somm was available and walking around to help with wine - of which they have a great selection.

We shared two appetizers, the duck confit and the foie - both very well prepared. We then had the venison loin (best venison I have ever had) and scallops that came with octopus which was also elegantly prepared and tasty. And of course it was hard to pass the duck fat cooked fries though we did not need them.

One of our favorite places though price wise it’s definitely more of a special treat if you want to do it right!

The staff here tries hard to please and succeeded with me. A team of folks cared for us with just the right touch. Excellent wine pairing suggestions from our waiter.
Our appetizers were the stars of the night. The French onion soup was rich and had a great unctuous feel of long simmered bones. Beef carpaccio was the best dish of the night. Everything was on that plate was there for a purpose and it worked from the pickle to the egg yolk.
Only 1 of our 2 main courses lived up to heights of the apps.
Scallops octopus and olives was perfectly cooked and tasted great.
The chicken dish was surprisingly bland considering long list of ingredients. That dish needs to be reworked.
Chocolate soufflé had great flavor and texture.
The staff made this a wonderful dining experience and I can’t wait to return.

The bar was set high, the reviews great, the prices quite high, and so our expectations were also set high. I'm only taking a full star off my review as our waiter (Matt, according to the receipt) started out great, but for some reason sort of dropped us just before dessert. At a fine dining restaurant, one should not be spending time looking around the dining room for the waiter or assistance with closed menus as many people walked by, and kept looking at our table but did nothing.

We were dining to celebrate my wife's birthday, and the restaurant did a very nice job of discreetly determining whose birthday it was, and our waiter impressively greeted her, we felt like we were off to a very nice evening of fine dining. Overall the food was very good, some dishes great. The 9 hour french onion soup was very good, I only wished perhaps it had a bit more onion in the bowl, but the broth was rich and satisfying. One of our friends enjoyed the three cheese Faro for dinner, and it was perhaps the best dish at the table, over the duck, tagliatelle (both very good) and sea bass (average at best). I found my dish, the sea bass, to be the weakest. While the piece of fish was beautifully presented, it lacked flavor and had a dry exterior and interior, something I was not expecting from sea bass. I did not eat very much of it.

Leading into dessert we noticed a little bit of slowdown on our service, and a a long and awkward delay for our dessert order to be taken. When our server finally did arrive back to the dining room, he seemed a bit ruffled, and gruffly asked what we wanted. It was a complete 180 from the way our dinner was progressing thus far, and not at all what we expected from a restaurant of this caliber.

Certainly not enough to ruin our meal, but enough to scratch your head and ask, what happened? Based on the other reviews, I have to think this was just a fluke, and perhaps our waiter had issues with another table or the kitchen, but that is when some other

My husband & I live in New Hampshire, and always take a mid-winter trip to Boston. One of the things that makes our get-away special is dining at Deuxave. This time was no exception. The food was remarkably creative and flavorful, the service was excellent, and, as always, there were the special little touches- the complimentary mini appetizer and bite of dessert. My husband LOVES the chocolate souffle and hopes they NEVER take it off the menu!

Luckily when we adjusted our reservation from 4 to 6 they could accommodate us in the bar area. Disappointed because a few of our guests ordered an entrée that was no longer available at 8 o’clock on a Saturday night. Restaurant did make up for it by Offering us not only a free bottle of wine, but upgraded our other bottle at the same price of the bottle we ordered. They are always good that way.

Expensive but worth it. Lovely place with great cooking and presentation. We were there for my wife's birthday and it was the perfect choice. On a Thursday night it was not at all full and so was quite quiet. Servings were ample and we shared one appetizer, entre and desert along with a half bottle of wine. It was more than enough food, but I'm over 70 and she's over 60 and we're watchiing our weight. Still the bill came to nearly $150 with tip. Our only concert was the service, which should have been more attentive for a restaurant of this quality, particularly since they were not too busy. The front of the house staff needs better training to keep up with the performance of the kitchen crew. I don't think I'd want to go there on a Saturday night but during the week it was fine.

Including the main course and I was really disappointed. Wine was great though but restaraunt had nothing to do with that at 2.7 x retail markup. Spent over $400 and was not happy

Normally service is fast at Deuxave but this particular evening service as slow. Probably a fluke, and we didn't have appetizers per se, but it seemed like our steaks took 30 minutes longer than necessary.

My husband and I loved it. We chose it for its convenient location for our evening, but we would make it a destination restaurant in the future. Spectacular food, wine at perfect temperature, superb service and a comfortable ambiance you can carry on a conversation in. Highly recommended!

Going away dinner for one of our kids was amazing across the board. We usually go to Deuxave for Christmas Eve but missed it in 2018. Service, food, ambiance. A+. The most special of restaurants.

The food and service were both excellent. Imaginative modern menu, each course was delicious. Service was top notch. The only problem we had was that we were on a table in an enclosed part of the restaurant next to a very noisy table, we could barely hear ourselves talk which took the edge off an otherwise very good experience. There are delightful booths for 2 people, which became available but were not offered.
I would recommend the restaurant, with the caveat of being careful over table selection

Was my 4th visit to Deauxave. This one was likely the most satisfying overall, for the combination of menu (midwinter 2019) and group experience. The dinner and service was excellent on all counts. Deauxave is at the top end of my spending preferences, so I reserve it for special, memorable occasions.
