Fantastic service and food was unbelievable. They’re known for the duck and I know why, really good. Best we’ve had. It was my wife’s birthday and I wanted it to be special for her. The manager stepped up and had my wife’s special bottle of champagne they don’t carry waiting at our table per my request. It was a great experience.
We had a great dinner at Deuxave. But don't get the tortellini with truffles. $54 for 4 tortellini -- and although their were big sheets of truffle, it really was not aromatic at all. Very disappointing. Our main courses -- the lamb and the duck -- were outstanding, however. We had some wines by the glass -- very nicely matched to our meals, and quite reasonably priced considering the rest of the prices! Desserts were good, but not extraordinary. The service was exceptional. So -- nice place for a splurge, stay away from the truffles, and enjoy!
This was our second visit to Deuxave to celebrate special occasions. It’s just that type of place for a quiet and super-quality meal with great service and a friendly atmosphere. It’s a bit pricey but that’s what special occasions are for! We’ll definitely be going back for the next celebration!
Always love this place. Food is always consistently good and wine selections are outstanding. For wines they have a book of full bottles and a page or two of half bottles with age.
Deuxave is one of those restaurants that aims higher and misses, so it becomes just another, not memorable, pricey restaurant. It isn't that they don't try hard, it's just that it feels like they are so popular that they've settled.
Wonderful meal, especially the pasta with white truffles. Now my favorite new French cuisine in Boston.
Always a fantastic meal and wonderful experience! We were celebrating our anniversary with our service-puppy-in-training in tow and they could not have been more welcoming.
Deuxave was definitely a mixed experience, and a bit disorienting, given that the combination of food quality, service, ambiance, and value all felt out of sync. It felt a bit like the restaurant is trying to be something it simply is not. The service is probably the best part of the experience. The waiter definitely knew the menu very well, was very attentive, and had a very formal manner. Yet to have all that going for him and then present us with a strange combination of plates from "Chef" (not "the chef" lol) that didn't match in terms of taste, value and description was bizarre. The duck entree was chewy and unflavorful. The salad was a strange array of a few greens and crispy things. The chicken entree was delicious, yet strangely arranged on only one side of the plate. I guess this was supposed to be artistic, but it made us laugh given all the incongruities. The ambience was nice, but odd, too. A row of more modern tables squished into the back wall, preceded by larger round tables with huge living room like chairs. I think this restaurant needs to rethink its overall concept if it is to survive long term. Until it does, I don't recommend going.
Outstanding food and service. Great spirit selection, and not overpriced. Entrees are delicious and filling, despite the price. Small selection, but each dish has clearly been highly refined. 9/10 would definitely recommend.
Everything about Deuxave is exquisite - amazingly wonderful food, excellent service, quiet and appealing decor. We have been here many times and it is always a treat. Outstanding, highly recommend.
Some items were outstanding and some were somewhat bland. I would give this 4.5 stars.
Great experience. Will our server was attentive
Consistently good, innovative dishes. Their pasta dishes are cooked perfectly. Never had a bad meal there.
Food was outstanding. Wine list is extensive and very reasonably priced for the area. Bar service was very attentive, though, unfortunately I forget the name of the bartender, but she was great. Will be back soon!
The place to go for four gras and duck breast in Boston. If you are not into either, there are plenty of other tasty options.
The food was great, but pricey! The duck was outstanding, probably the best we have had and prepared to perfection. The scallop plate was excellent, with unusual ingredients that made it quite special.
What a disappointing night. So many things did not live up to my prior visits. I had invited friends to “my favorite restaurant” and had to apologize. The food, as usual was well thought out and beautifully presented. The dining room was not the calm atmosphere as in other visits. It was loud (lots of spills and broken glasses) and the staff seemed disorganized. At our table of five, we had two people delivering the courses. Not ONE was presented to the right person. We all had to hand around the dishes to the appropriate places. We had to request water refills and then the water never arrived. We shared water by the end. Cocktails and wines were ordered and took a very, very long time to arrive (the bar was busy, but this should be taken into account when staffing).
After years of praise and recommendations for Deuxave, I will not recommend again.
Felt rushed and the service staff, not the actual server, needed more training, surprising for an expensive restaurant.
The food was excellent and unique
They nailed the food -- perfectly cooked and seasoned steak and chicken. Service was attentive, and when we told them we needed to leave in a hurry to make the symphony they brought the check before I could even get my wallet out. I will certainly be back!
Great experience all around. Food was amazing as usual, Andrew our server was fantastic!
Great Ambience! Thank you to all of the servers who made our dining experience outstanding! Next time we visit Boston we will be sure to come back to Deuxave!
Love this restaurant- service is always fantastic & is extremely attentive to allergies & dietary restrictions!
We brought two friends from London to your restaurant. We were all excited to order the Mass striped Bass. We were told they ran out of it. Then we ordered 2 chickens for the ladies , one duck and one filet. Then we were told there was only one chicken. We ordered Wichita wine. Then we were told our wine was not available and we had to choose another wine. Our friends eat kosher style so no shellfish or pork. We were disappointed in Deuxave Sun night Oct 13 We have eaten at Deuxave many times. We were highly disappointed in our Oct 13 dinner
We love Deuxave. Used to live in the city and dine there frequently, it now that we’re in the ‘burbs, it’s been over a year since we had been back. We were a bit anxious that it might not live up to our old expectations, but it didn’t disappoint. We did the chef’s tasting and one supplement of foie gras, which was amazing. Portion sizes were great. We left there full, but not stuffed. We had a table by the bar and it was loud, but not overly so. Our waiter, Darren, was also behind the bar and was very attentive to our needs. The rib eye was awesome and so was the chicken. Both cooked sous vide. Seared scallops were cooked perfectly and delish. Even the dessert, which was a cheese dish was fantastic. They also gave us some great wines to pair. It’s a little pricey, but well worth it. Highly recommend!!
10/10 will do the tasting menu again.
Average service at best, one of 4 dishes was above average(lamb), very much rushed us to get us out and they knew it was our anniversary. Overrated as an experience.
3 people with 4 starters and 2 main courses. I would say lobster with Gnocchi, duck confit and foie gras were very good. I had high expectations on the Onion Soup, but I am not quite sure if it is normal to taste bitterness in the soup. May be over burned. I would not recommend the soup.
As for the main course, we had Lamb Loin and Ribeye. When both dishes brought on the table, the smell for both dishes is very similar. The eggplant in the lamb dish is undercooked. As for Ribeye, nothing remarkable. I am positive the kitchen can do better than what is served to us in the future.
As for the staff, well trained, well mannered, and knowledgable about the food and paid proper attention to each table. This is a great place for romantic dinner or date night dinner if your focus is not on the food.
A good tasting menu—one that succeeds in coherence—is able to conjure the diner to another place and time: perhaps a villa in Tuscany, a hamlet in Provence. Deuxave’s relocated us to the global nihilism of international business class, and the well presented but ultimately flavorless concoctions this entails. Food this bland may actually be something of a treat at 30,000ft but is profoundly disappointing back on Earth. The tasting menu started with a nondescript amuse-Bouche, and then to some rather tasteless charcuterie—we’ve had better from Eataly—lazily draped over a seemingly undressed salad. To follow, scallions with some paste. Deuxave loves pastes. The following two dishes were admittedly better: a raviolo (we learned the singular for this word at this meal!) with an egg yolk on the inside, and then a small but delicious cut of Ribeye accompanied by some other paste. Great chefs know that the typical diner remembers the last course more clearly and so a good dessert can make up for a lot. Deuxave alas has not learned this and presented us with a dry slice of Focaccia, around 4”x1”, topped with two slices of brie and three berries mounted—I think philatelists prefer the word ‘fixed’—atop and held in place by jam. I have rushed together some basic hors d'oeuvres in my time, but I think I would have hesitated to serve this to guests at my home. For $109, the tasting menu presented a profound disappointment. The ambience didn’t help; we were stuffed in a small section at the back between two mirrors with remarkably uncomfortable seats and stark lighting. Several other guests were offered seats in this section and asked to move, and I wish we’d done that ourselves. Perhaps the only redeeming feature of this restaurant was the service, which was friendly and reasonably attentive throughout. As we left, the host asked us “how was your meal?” Not wishing to burst her bubble, we smiled and walked into the bleak and rainy fall evening that so complemented Deuxave.
Everything was a amazing! The food , the service and the ambiance ❤️
Always an outstanding dinner experience.
Wonderful dining experience; food was creative, well prepared, well presented and fabulous. Service was excellent; servers were extremely knowledgable, considerate of our dining pace and very helpful with the menu selection and helpful with the wine choices; they were there when I needed them, not there when I didn't There was no rush to "turn the table", the pace of the meal was perfect and the food was one of the best I've had in Boston. I dine out quite a bit and Deuxave is one of the best in the city.
Emily, the manager, was so knowledge, friendly and helpful! I’ve never encountered a restaurant employee that was so good that i’ve decided to hire her a way when i open my own place. hehe. give that women a raise!!
Outstanding service and very nice food presentation. The “Happy Anniversary” written on our dessert plate was a special touch.
Decent value, excellent service. Phenomenal drinks.
This was a very nice restaurant! The food was delicious and the wait staff wonderful!!
Many thanks to everyone at Deuxave for making our 18th anniversary extra special. It was a pleasant surprise to receive glasses of Blanc de Blanc upon sitting & we were very impressed with the sommelier’s wine picks for us. The food, service and ambiance was perfect. A wonderful dining experience!
Had the Spiced Long Island Duck Breast, which was good, but not as tasty as the one on the summer menu. Also ordered the Charred Corn & Ricotta Triangoli. Only the Triangoli was tasty. Everything else that accompanied this dish was rather bland.
Quite possibly the best French onion soup I've ever had. The food and cocktails were delicious, the ambiance was very pleasant, and the service was phenomenal.
Staff was wonderful and the food was excellent. Waiter was very helpful with the wine pairing.
Amazing experience, the service was impeccable, food outstanding, and wine beyond grand! I will definitely be back!
