The prices were actually pretty good for a high end steak house, however, I would unfortunately not classify this as such. I felt it was probably a good restaurant as far as a lot of resorts go, but I do not feel the food was of as high quality or at least prepared well enough to warrant a dinner here If you were not a guest at the resort. Everything tasted bland, including the Steak Diane which seemed to be missing an ingredient or two in the sauce. For dessert the carrot cake was just awful, and at $16 a piece, the pours on the limited selection of bourbons were comically weak.
As far as service, our actual waiter was excellent, however, the rest of the cast was greatly lacking. After the first 15 minutes (of a 2 1/2 hour meal) we never saw the other 2 people who were supposed to be helping and thus we had one glass of water until I asked our server towards the end. The men’s room was out of service with a sign saying to use the one by the pool. However the host and hostess couldn’t tell me where that even was. In fact they sent me to the wrong building on the coldest night in FL in probably years, so I had to wander around until I found it myself. After we paid the bill, our server asked for our valet card to have them pull our car up, as well as a golf cart to get us back to the hotel where you have to drop the car. This would have been a really nice touch however it took 10 minutes for the golf cart to get there and then they didn’t have the car ready when we got back to the hotel. In fact, valet acted as if no one had told them anything about it. So there was another 10 minutes. Plus why didn’t the valet offer the golf cart when we arrived instead of telling us how to walk there in the cold? Just a missed opportunity to me and again those details true fine dining has down.
This place has potential, but as it stands there are much better options without the hassle than comes with going to this place at a higher price point then what I feel is justified.
We (3) were there for New Year's Eve. Two of the 3 steaks we ordered were outstanding. One (the bone in ribeye) was surprisingly dry and overcooked.
The amiance was ok but we were very bothered by the inexperienced and cavalier service of our server, Steven. He got off on the wrong foot by calling us "his friends," then continuously referred to us as "you guys" throughout dinner. He was slow to remove used dishes, forgot to bring steak knives and clean forks before the steaks were served, then recommended (without being asked) his favorite dessert. The service may have been fit for Chili's (no knock on Chili's) but did not fit the restaurant, the ocassion, or the prices. It was disappointing, especially compared to the fine dinner and service we had a year ago at Dempsey's. Not sure we'll return.
We ate at Dempsey's for New Year's Eve. There were lots of larger parties and it hampered our waiter from being attentive to us. Our drinks did not appear for 15 - 20 minutes after we ordered them, however the food was outstanding !

Place was a little empty compared to previous times. The salad bar has been greatly reduced. We almost walked out for fear that the quality and prep of food would be the same. Not to worry, all was above expectations. Waitress was especially helpful in recommending sides and wine. Three of us really enjoyed ourselves.
We are planning for New Year's.

Dempsey’s has an interesting menu that has some local influence. The service was outstanding. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and provided many suggestions. The smallest steak is approx 10oz. which can be a lot. The waiter suggested splitting 2 dinners so we could each have a surf & turf and not a lot of steak. Creative recommendation not on menu. The Parker House rolls are served with a local honey. Lots of extra touches. The sides are for 2. The Caesar Salad for 2 is made table side and worth the trip. Steak was cooked perfectly. You get what you pay for in quality and service. I would also recommend bringing a jacket/sweater as the dining room is cold. I will definitely return and highly recommend!
My steak was perfectly cooked, but my wife's buffalo pasta had a different taste than before. Not as good.
Glad to have found Dempsey's near where we were staying. Took the wife for a celebratory dinner as she had surgery earlier in the week. It was everything I expected and more. The service, food selection and wine list was outstanding.
My wife and I are frequent diners at Dempsey's, and previous visits have been great. The restaurant is on the pricey side, but the overall experience there in the past has been worth it. That was not the case this time. We were seated on time for our reservation, and then sat for 12 minutes while waiting for a waiter/waitress/server to acknowledge our existence, or at least fill our water glasses. At the 12-minute mark I called a waiter over and asked who our server was, and then requested he also send the manager over. 3 minutes later, a manager came over and apologized for the delay and offered to buy us dessert to make up for the lack of hospitality (I appreciate that, but I'd trade the comped dessert for attentive customer service anytime). She also said she would come back later to check on us (never happened). Our waitress eventually made it over, no apologies for lack of customer service, and took our order. Her service during this evening could be described as minimal: took our order, delivered food, cleared dishes, brought the check. I felt like I was an intruder in someone's home, not a welcomed customer. As always, the food was excellent; my wife had the Chilean Sea Bass and I had the filet. Sides were butternut squash (prepared superbly) and sauteed mushrooms (fair, way too much salt). However, the service this evening was awful. If you're a first-rate steakhouse, Dempsey's, than be a first-rate steakhouse. You really soured us on this visit and left me wondering if I'll ever return as a patron.
We have dined at Dempseys many times and always enjoyed it; this was an exception to that statement. My husband had the diver scallops .. delicious. I had the colossal shrimp .. they were so overcooked I struggled to cut them with a knife and finally gave up after one.
I had also contacted the restaurant about having something written on his plate (it was a milestone birthday), but there was nothing done; not even a happy birthday from the wait staff.
We really enjoy the ambiance at Saddlebrook, but it will be a very long time before I suggest we go back.
This is our second visit to Dempsey's and we were not disappointed. The food was prepared perfectly and very tasty. We had truly excellent service. The staff was very knowledgeable and made great suggestions. The only reason for 3 star on the ambience is that in order for us to get in and out of the dining room we had to wade through the bar which was packed full of very boisterous inebriated golfers. Nothing against folks enjoying themselves. However when paying this much for a fine dining experience I didn't really enjoy having to "part the seas" in order to exit or for my wife to visit the ladies room.
Very disappointing and not worth the value. We ordered a bottle of wine and after about 30 minutes they came back and said they couldn't find it. We asked for the wine list and about 2 minutes after getting it our steaks arrived. So we just ordered two glasses. Both of the steaks were under cooked, I had to send mine back for more cooking. We ordered dessert and my wife ordered hot tea. The tea never came. Was hoping for more but walked away disappointed.
We were there to celebrate an anniversary. Service was terrific and attentive. Food was prepared exactly as ordered. We we enjoyed all our dishes especially the clam chowder. Many agreed it was the best steak they've had. The sides were fabulous, especially the mashed potatoes and the Brussels spouts. This will become our special place.
Note: the restaurant is not close to the entrance to the property, and the parking is a walk from the restaurant. The valet parking does provide a ride to the door.

Dempsey’s was great. The menu is varied and offers something for all palates. The service was awesome, attentive and courteous. The wine list was extensive and the dessert trolley a treat!
Service friendly and efficient.. Food was OK, but a bit too salty..
The first sign that this place has a problem is that is was empty at ion on a Friday night. Service was very slow. The little thing like no water fills and actually had to ask someone to send over our server. Note this is an expensive place. After the server raved about the scallops my wife ordered then. After a long while she came back to tell her they were out of the scallops.
I ordered the lamb and it came out totally raw. Not rare Raw! Went here for wife's birthday embarssed by rhis place. Too many other places with better service and better food. I do not mind paying $200 for a meal. But not for the places like this. Will never return!
Service was outstanding
This was our third time at Dempsey's and we were really disappointed.
Food and service was outstanding. Not your standard franchise restaurant and a bit priceyer, but deservingly so. A little old school dining room and bar area but was intimate and served as a great Friday night anniversary dinner. Will certainly return.
The restaurant was under renovation and we weren't expecting that. Sat in the bar. Antipasti bar wasn't even set up at time of our arrival and was thrown together with very few items.
Food was excellent and the service was very attentive.
Terrible steaks. I had the bone in ribeye and it was tough with little flavor. My wife had the filet tough with zero flavor. Drive 5 minutes down the road to Outback And you'll get a better steak at a fraction of the price. This place is not worth the time and so old and outdated. I should have known as we were one of only two parties yet the service was horribly slow (but friendly).
Best Caesar salad and steaks. Wonderful desserts. Great service was great. Waitress was very knowledgeable.
The waitress was very on top of things and the food was great! The entire staff there is nice and has great customer service, especially the hostess who booked my reservation. I believe her name was Caitlin I honestly am bad with names and I hope she gets rewarded for a job well done. :)
