Great lunch!! Food and service top notch.
Terrific comfort food homestyle, the wild mushroom risotto was to die for and the capouccino mousse is a must.
My wife and daughters and I ate dinner here in. Friday night. Service was slow, but that was OK as it gave us time to talk. I usually judge a restaurant in part by the bread. This was cold baguette sliced thin with pesto. No bueno, they need to bake there own bread. My meal was a tomatoe/lentil soup which was tasty but my veal masala (mushroom) was fabulous. Salads and risotto were good, mussels nd pasta dish was excellent. Loud atmosphere, but I like on a Friday night. Overall a good experience.
Went for my husband’s birthday with another couple. Very small but cozy. Service was very good. Food was good.
Celebrated a birthday here and we're not disappointed. Food was fresh and flavorful. Service was attentive and very friendly. We will definitely return!
My colleagues from Europe generally prefer to avoid European cuisine when they come to the U.S. as they have plenty of great options at home. However, my closest friends from Europe insist that we go here when they are in town; they love it. It's as good if not better than what they have available to them back home.
We went for lunch to celebrate a co--worker's birthday and really liked it! The food was amazing, but the service was exceptional. I didn't get our server's name, but he made it a memorable event. We will be back!
Wonderful experience and excellent authentic Italian food. All at a reasonable price, which makes this place the best Italian restaurant in the Bay Area.
From start to finish, this restaurant is perfection. Nothing we ordered missed the mark and the wait staff couldn’t have been more welcoming. Our waiter was knowledgeable and so enthusiastic about their food! To end the perfect night, along with our two desserts and coffee that we ordered, we were brought another dessert for my birthday and limoncello to celebrate with! This place is our new local favorite!
Lovely dinner for a rare date night out. Our waiter was charming and very knowledgeable about the food and wine. I loved that the menu is concise--they don't try to do everything, just a few solid southern Italian dishes. I had a delicious mushroom risotto and my partner went for veal marsala, and both were well done examples of standard dishes.
Wonderful people and great food.
Best pasta ever cooked to perfection, love the strozzaprete house made tube pasta in lamb sauce AMAZING. Service always top notch and wine selections, to pair meal superb and unique. Also had the best baby octopus stew (outside Italy) special of the night for appetizer. Thank you!!
Delizie never fails to deliver a lovely evening meal, or a great lunch.
This was a post-Valentine dinner, and Delizie was the perfect place to have it. Had a new appetizer, the Polpettini di Carciofi, delicious little balls of breaded artichoke and risotto nestled in a bit of marinara sauce. They were fabulous, and serve as a serious rival to my old fav, the cauliflower appetizer.
Both of us had a home-made tube pasta in a sauce with slow-cooked lamb bits. So flavorful and good.
We finished with espresso and the chocolate tartuffo dessert. Good food, wine, ambiance, and wonderful owner and staff.
Love the restaurant. Authentic cuisine in a warm environment
The food in this visit was average. The calamari was unseasoned and bland. My pasta dish was average not outstanding (compared to the last time). Maybe we hit a off night or chef’s night off. The service was stil excellent.
Cozy and quiet place that serves high quality Italian dishes (No pizza). Limited but very well performed menu. The owner is enjoyable to talk with and very hospitable.
We love Delize. The space is small, but it creates a real intimacy that is reinforced with the great service and the thoughtfully prepared and very fresh take on Italian cuisine. It truly feels like a family run establishment which is refreshing in San Carlos.
Had a lovely birthday dinner for my daughter on Friday night - our first visit to Delizie. We had the caprese salad as a starter, my daughter had the asparagus tortellini, my wife the spaghetti pomodoro and I had the Pollo Callabrese. All were delicious. Just as the other reviews suggest, the service is very good and very friendly. Francesco was especially welcoming. Looking forward to returning again soon!
Excellent food with outstanding service. Our waiter was very helpful in our food selection. He also greeted us at the door, as we had made a reservation using yelp, and he knew my name! It felt very welcoming!
Omg hard to say where to start.
Everything about this place is wonderful,
Food, service and atmosphere are the best in the area. My wife and I had the special ravioli which we both agreed was the best ravioli ever had; and the risotto porcini TERRIFIC.
The owner was very welcoming and the waiters are nice and they all speak in italian which and we love that. The wine list its for the most part italian and the wine selections are great. We’ll be back for sure and bring our whole family.
First timer in this place. Felt right from stepping in that I would not like it. Fairly small and densely packed with the door opening right into the guest room. So during a January evening expect to feel some cold drafty air passing by your table. with the dense packing no privacy and very noisy. Nothing delicious about the food. The obligatory bread with olive spread was not fresh and a very small serving. As a starter we had the antipasto della casa which was a few slices of salami, mortadella, 3 olives, pickled onions a a small wedge of pecorino. Funny when they serve everything at a count of 3 which makes it easy to share at a table of two. For main my girlfriend had the chicken and I went for the lamb chops. Small servings not particularly well presented and rather at the high end of prices. The chicken was over salted and my lamb chops were 3or 4 bites served with a small lump of mashed potatoes and 2 small pieces of broccoli. They have some ok wines on their lust and we tried the Amarone, but with the poor ambiente and mediocre food we called it an evening after the main and escaped back home.
The setup just feels wrong, the menu is overpriced. So even on a good evening don’t expect to get fair value. there are better choices in the area.
The Primitivo wine and tagliatelle with wild boar and tomato sauce were a beautiful pair!
Fantastic! Friendly, wonderful service and the food was delicious. Quite the little gem of San Carlos. Would absolutely recommend with top marks.
Delizie was truly delicious! The salad was fresh, the appetizer just right in portion and tastiness, the wine list was affordable with a nice variety of California and Italian selections, and the pasta dishes were well balanced - pasta, sauce and additional ingredients. We really appreciated the excellent service and willingness to accommodate some special requests - all staff were appropriately attentive and friendly. I'm looking forward to my next visit!
I like that the restaurant is small and cozy. Server was informed about the wine and helpful in her suggestions.
The staff is incredible and they work very hard to make the experience a memorable one. The food is always delicious!! Highly recommend the burrata to start, mushroom risotto and lemon mascarpone cake for dessert. Fabulous hidden gem in San Carlos!
Service was amAzing and food was delicious!
This was our first visit, and will not be our last! We live in LaQuinta and don't usually travel that far for dinner, but it was suggested by friends and we gave it a try. We were not disappointed by any part of the evening. The ambiance is of a warm Tuscan restaurant. We were greeted as we entered and soon taken to our table. We enjoyed cocktails while we waited for out table mates and appetizers of calamari. The calamari was crisp and well seasoned = delicious. We were not disappointed by our dinner choices either, all four of us enjoyed our entrees. We are not dessert eaters so I cant comment on the dessert. We will soon return!
The waitstaff at Delizie is always wonderful! The food is amazing and they have a great wine list. My girlfriends and I dined here together and had a great meal. The waitstaff gave us glasses of moscato on the house at the finish of our meal. Highly recommend this restaurant for any dinner occasion. Reservations are good because they are a smaller restaurant. It’s cozy too!
Amazing as always. Tried their eggplant parmiggiana special and it was absolutely fantastic, not grease and not oily as well.
Also had their night special swordfish carpaccio which was very delicate and tasty.
My fiance had porcini risotto and from her face I could say that was extremely happy with it. We’ll be back and recommend to friends :)))
The food was great and the service was good as well. Until the waiter asked us to leave because he needed our table for a party of 10 that showed up without reservations. We weren't very happy about that. You never ask a well paying customer to leave. Not sure If I will go back there or recommend it to any of my friends.
What a delightful surprise! I was amazed to learn the restaurant has been there over 5 years - had not noticed it before. We had an excellent, un-rushed lunch with great service. Rolando was knowledgeable, attentive, and personable. We asked for recommendations for pairing Italian wines we did not know with our food and he did a really good job, even offering tastes without being asked. My husband's risotto, an ample serving for lunch, had him wishing he had ordered a larger portion. My linguine with fresh clams was EXCELLENT- homemade pasta, quite a few tender little clams and, as requested, made on the spicy side. And if you ever enjoy panna cotta, be sure to try it Here- really fresh and light and delicious. Thumbs up all around. We will return for lunch and dinner and bring friends next time.
The waitress was excellent also the restauran manager made us feel very comfortable. Food was good could be fresher but we ate well.
We went to Delizie for a double date on Saturday night. We were able to get a reservation and modify easily (thanks Open Table). Our server started out very helpful, but as the evening went on, it was like she got distracted. She brought us our dessert menu and then vanished. 15 minutes later someone noticed we were still sitting there with them and apologized and took the order. We got our desserts and then literally had to flag her down long after we had finished. The place was not that busy at this point, I do believe she was focused on something else outside of her work. The food was good and came quickly and hot, overall it was good, but our experience with our service made it less than awesome.
One of our favorites of the many Italian restaurants there seem to be in San Carlos and Belmont. Had the gnocchi de mar and it was fabulous! Loved the artichoke appetizer as well as the burrata & speck. Was very bummed that they did not offer their eggplant appetizer as it used to be a our go-to and a differentiator from the other restaurants. But it has been a year since I've been here so the menu may have changed months ago... Desserts were also good. This was a friends night out and we lingered a long time and they were fine with that. No rush. Also good place for date night. Quieter than the other restaurants and very cozy decor. We'll be back!
First time there for a first date. Cozy & romantic but not to over the top. The smells from the kitchen were to die for and the food was equally delicious.
We are regulars. Both the food and the service are always excellent. Easily the best and most authentic Italian food in San Carlos.
The things I'll remember most about Delizie are the pleasant atmosphere and the friendly service staff. It's not the most spacious restaurant, but that means you'll get a lot of attention. I thought the food was tasty and the portions sizable.
Delizie is a small, quietly elegant family-owned Italian restaurant serving cuisine influenced by the family's Calabrian roots. We have dined there over 30 times over the years, drawn back by the consistent high levels of service, warmth, and of course the wonderful dishes. House-made pastas with braised meat sauces are our favorites, but the seafood dishes most reflect Calabria and are wonderful. The modest wine list offers a thoughtful selection of distinctive regional Italian reds and whites as well as some familiar domestic varietals. Definitely save room for homemade desserts, and maybe a dessert wine you've never tried before.
Great Southern Italian food, and awesome service.
Cozy restaurant, delicious Italian food, and great customer service!
Service was impeccable. Calamari was bland but risotto and pastas were delicious. Thank you for my birthday treat. We’ll be back.
