Delighful staff & yummy dinner.. Cannoli was the bomb... Was a little on the expensive side
We are visiting in San Diego for the month of January and were pleasantly surprised that Restaurant Week occurred this month. We scrutinized the list of participating restaurants in the Gaslamp/East Village areas where we were staying and selected De'Medici Cucina. Everything about our experience at this fine eatery was first-rate. The dining room is lovely, the service was impeccable, and the food was delicious. My wife and I made the same selections from the prix fixe menu: wedge salad with tasty blue cheese bacon dressing; thin and tender veal cutlets covered with mushrooms and gravy accompanied by baby carrots and brussels sprouts; and cannoli for dessert. We recommend this restaurant highly.
service very slow. food quality high, but seasoning eskew.
Very relaxed atmosphere, excellent food, and outstanding service. If you're looking for Italian food in an old style ambience, de Medici will not let you down. The calamari fritti was excellent to start. I had the sole portofino, crazy expensive but over-the-top delicious. My wife had the linguine pescatore, overwhelming and again, delicious. They surprised us with a slice of cheesecake to celebrate our anniversary, simply too good. Can't wait for a return visit.
Great night with excellent service.
Excellent food and Outstandjng Service!!!
Food was fabulous and service first class. Our server was a young man from Turkey and was superlative in every way
Visit with family.
This is the best restaurant in town. Get a veal chop! Or anything else.
I have been at this restaurant several times. It is consistently excellent. The veal chop is my favorite. The house specialty of seafood stuffed sole is fabulous. The pastas are regularly delicious
Amazing meal! Great service! Would definitely recommend!
Great service as reviews indicated. Friendly as well. Food quantity and quality won’t disappoint. Didn’t have any wine but wine list was extensive.
The food and atmosphere of this restaurant was magnificent. Definitely loved spending my anniversary there and can’t wait to go there again someday.
The best Italian food in SD!
Great service and good food
The food was excellent and the service was amazing!
Excelente y delicioso!!
Awesome food and great service. Have the salad they make it table side and it is fantastic
Took about 20 minutes to receive our drinks and no apology even after we reminder our server several times we haven’t received our drinks. 30 minutes after ordering dinner we were informed I needed to change my entree as they are now out of an ingredient. They said since I have to change my entree they would then not charge us for our drink. Very odd service and not what you would expect. Server didn’t seem concerned with all the hiccups and didn’t know how to recover. Food and drinks were incredible so I would return based on that alone.
This place is normally amazing – they had a large group that night of about 150 people – that slowed the service down to a crawl. I have been here other times though and under normal circumstances I give them very high marks. A great experience, old school. Again the staff is normally amazing but we got a new-ish waiter and he wasn’t great. This was the exception though it is usually fantastic.
Outstanding evening !! All aspects were amazing. Our waiter made some excellent suggestions for our meals. I would have to say, some of the BEST Italian food in the city !!! Thank you to all at Di Medici for a wonderful time.
The service and atmosphere were outstanding! The food was good but the vegetables were not to the standard of the entrees.
Amazing food and service definitely will be back again!
Outstanding "old world" service and excellent cuisine! The owner stopped by our table a couple of times during our "anniversary dinner" to make sure that everything was satisfactory....that doesn't happen very often in today's world! My Sole Florentine was fabulous, and my wife had the fresh Sea Bass which was also excellent! Beautiful old world Italian decor..one of the best dining experiences we've had in many years! 5 Thumbs up!!
We had a large party of 9 people for business
The large round table perfect
The food excellent
The service by Monica perfect
Bananas foster fun to watch and great to eat
After a stressful, hectic day, walking into this restaurant was just the place to be. The atmosphere is elegant, charming, calming and I immediately began to relax. The food is excellent and we lingered over each course. It's expensive, and I don't come often, but I enjoy the whole experience everytime.
Calamari was tender not chewy and very tasty.I had the lasagna with bolonese sauce which was amazing and my wife had the chicken parmigiana which she thoroughly enjoyed.Eould definitely go back.
I always feel like family when I dine here. From the moment I walk in, the staff is friendly, happy & very welcoming. The aroma of mild garlic and fresh tomatoes makes me feel like I am in Italy.
We arrived on time but were ushered into the next door adjunct room that was clearly not as nice as the main dining room. Not sure why. The server was good, a bit hesitant, but that wasn't a problem. He made a decent table side caesar salad. I ordered the scalloping picante and my husband ordered the chicken dish with the red sauce and cheese. Don't remember what it was called. Neither were very good, my veal was a bit tough. The most disappointing part of the meal was the inclusion of the small chunks of carrots like you get in the bag at the grocery store. They had no flavor whatsoever. Why couldn't they at least use fresh carrots? This was not an inexpensive meal.
It was our second time in two months since we tried this lovely Italian steak place. It felt warm and inviting. We completely recommend de Medici Cucina for delicious food in a delightful environment.
This was my first time to de Medici Cucina and it won’t be my last. On a scale from one to ten it’s all ten. There is not one negative thing about this place. Everyone was polite and professional and the food was absolutely amazing!
Great experience , the food and service were excellent , they had an extensive wine list ... I felt that it was a little pricey !
The atmosphere was wonderful and would be great for a special occasion. The food was very delicious and the arribbata sauce was worth a trip of 1500 miles to taste.
Mr. Vitale’s food was amazing. His Sicilian touch will blow you away.
We always enjoy De Medici. The food quality is outstanding. We love the Caesar salad! Sal the owner was in that night. And we always enjoy seeing him.
We recently moved to Carlsbad and were looking for a good Italian restaurant in the downtown San Diego area, and this is it! The food and the service was excellent and the prices were very reasonable. We especially enjoyed meeting and talking to the the owner, Salvatore. We will definitely be back!
Went to celebrate husbands birthday. Food and service was phenomenal. Cesaear salad table side prepared to perfection. Both the the Veal chop Masala and chicken parmesan were flavorful and tender ..delicious.
We had a delicious meal and received wonderful service from Justin. We will definitely dine here again when we visit San Diego again.
Amazing service and delicious food. We had such an amazing experience here!
