Our favorite in the neighborhood
Terrible food. Very expensive for cost. Ravioli entree was literally 4 raviolis.
This is the first review I've ever written about a restaurant in my entire life. As someone who has worked in the service industry i understand that it is a difficult field to work in. However, after last nights Valentines Dinner, I had some problems with this place.
Food was fine so if you're looking to just eat then you should be good.
We had two servers jump between us all night, each one asking if we've had our drink order taken, or food order, so it was confusing who our server was. On top of that, there was inconsistent service between tables. For example, every table but ours was served house bread. We asked our server for house bread and we never got it. Even more, when we were served our food we were asked if we wanted cheese and pepper to which we said yes. The server went to get it, stopped at 2 other tables, about 4-5 minutes of us waiting for him to come back.
Next up was the decor....because behind our table was a completely dead and fragile poinsettia. Now when the girlfriend mentions a dying flower directly behind her head.... well you can imagine.
The last thing that really made the night terrible was when the bill came. Now mind you, we were a 2 top, with our bill coming to $104. So, seeing that we had below sub-par service, i was expecting to tip about 15-18%. Except when the bill came THEY ADDED 20% GRATUITY and already ran my card. How disgraceful of a place to not let patrons choose their own tip. If it we a 5+ top, i would understand, but for a 2 top, unbelievable.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU GO SOMEWHERE ELSE TO EAT.
Good experience with friends on double date. Delicious food in a very festive atmosphere for Valentine’s Day.
We had a 6pm reservation on Valentine’s Day. Traffic was horrible and we ended up getting to the restaurant at about 630. They still seated us right away! The food was excellent and the service was great! Definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a nice Italian restaurant in the city.
What a terrific meal, especially on a holiday (Valentine's Day), where the restaurant tables were decorated with little hearts, the rooms filled - tastefully - with balloons, and the ladies presented with a fresh, red rose after the meal. Charming, as is the owner, who visits most tables while keeping a watchful eye over his professional, experienced staff. And the food was delicious, reasonably priced, served exactly as ordered. Our Caprese salad had outstanding mozzarella cheese over fresh tomatoes; our entrees included fresh fish of the day, prepared simply and tastefully, and a chicken with artichokes with a side of broccoli rabe. Pastas and red gravy were top notch. You can also eat at the bar and there is music and dancing on some evenings. Lively, fun and also good for a business lunch, D'Angelo's is a winner.
The food was okay. Pretty bland and dry with pasta that was clearly microwaved. The parts around the edge were cold with the parts in the middle scolding hot. Service was solid but the place is wildly overpriced. Paid $135 for an appetizer, 3 entrees, a dessert, and one glass of wine. The menu's entrees were upper $20s mostly with upper teens quality.
The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Definitely recommend!
Excellent Italian food - my wife and I shared the Chicken Parm and the Cappelini with garlic and oil. Service was good. Will definitely return.
Delicious authentic Italian food!!
My friend and I went to end Restaurant week. This was my first time and her second. The food was amazing, fresh and delicious! The wait staff was just as impressive and very nice!!
I will definitely visit again soon!
This was my first time visiting D’Angelo’s and it was definitely a treat! Our server was awesome. We were serenaded by a wonderful gentleman. I had an excellent experience and the food was delicious!!!
The food was delicious and the service was great. However, I am a wine drinker and my husband is not so I can't order it by the bottle. I was very disappointed in the selection of white wine by the glass. It is not of a good or high level quality, especially for an Italian restaurant!
Loved it here! The staff were so nice and made you feel comfortable soon as you walked inside
The food was excellent. The ambiance was perfect. The price was right. And we were there for a celebration and one of the owners came and sang Happy birthday to our friend. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful.
Service and food were outstanding! Best restaurant week ever! My co-workers and I will definitely be back.
The place was very nice, I loved going upstairs. The food was very good, loved the cannelloni and the veal parm looked awesome. The servers were very attentive and nice. Great experience and would love to go back.
I ate there Saturday and went back with a friend the following Thursday. The best veal parmigiana. They cut their own veal there which really makes a difference. A reliable favorite.
Cozy atmosphere. Friendly staff. Awesome food. Good for couples and families.
Awesome food and perfect portions
The atmosphere was good, the server was attentive and the food was good. I will definitely be going back.
The only good part about the service was that the waiters dressed up nice and kept my water glass full. The hostess was not friendly and our table was not ready upon arrival. The food was delicious with small size portions (3 raviolis per plate).
Our table was near the door and it was very cold. The hostess was not professional and seated guest in the wrong order, making people upset. Waiter took long to take our order and walked by so fast we couldn’t get his attention to order. The value for what we paid was not good and the service was not up to par
The only thing that bothered me about this restaurant is the fact that when I went on the restaurant week website there was no note letting me know that they didn't participate on Saturday's. That was irritating. I traveled a great distance only to find out they didn't participate. Other than that we had a beautiful time. The food was delicious and the staff was very friendly. I would recommend this restaurant to friends.
Just exceptional! Great service, charming location. Capellini was amazing. Great experience overall. Look forward to returning.
Amazing food and great atmosphere. Quaint little restaurant
Everything was good, from the great bartender through dessert!
Food Was very good. The signature salad was phenomenal. The mixed drinks were perfection. Excellent vale and service.
This restaurant was a wonderful surprise. Was looking for a restaurant for New Years which had a regular menu. Within our party of four, there were different dietary requirements and this menu had something for each of us. The food was outstanding. The veal and chicken dishes were very tender and so tasty. The pasta was fresh, prepared perfectly and delicious. We were not hurried and the staff was not pushy. The owner was out and about, chatty, and personable. This is a definite repeater!!
After theater dinner brought us here during the holidays. Exceptional experience! In a sea of restaurants touting “the best” in Philly, this gem shines. Our table for 8 was ready... wait staff was attentive, knowledgeable and not intrusive. They were there when needed but in the background. Great menu with some evening specials that tempted us to sample appetizers before our entree. Food arrived hot and all 8 (who ordered widely different dishes) delivered together. Every dish from the steak for two to the special of crab and asparagus tips in white wine, to salmon filet were amazing. The ricotta cheesecake and cannoli desserts are not to be missed!
We are from this area, but live in Maine and have been in hospitality for 20 years. My husband is a chef and he took the time to congratulate the owner and the chef ! We will return!
D'Angelo's Ristorante Italiano did a great job around the holidays with multiple large groups on the second floor.
Food came out cold and was underwhelming. Service is fine and loved the classic feel of the place. Expected better.
This was our first time at This restaurant and we will definitely be back! Everything we ordered was amazing, we can’t stop talking about how great the food was!
I was not happy with our experience. The food was ok, definitely nothing special, but the service was poor. Our waiter seemed really disinterested and not friendly at all. The highlight of the night was when a gentleman, who I think may have been the owner, came over with his guitar and sang happy birthday to my daughter and then was singing Xmas songs to us and the other tables. He was very friendly and that was a nice touch. Other than that it was a disappointment and we wouldn’t return
Absolutely authentic food and delicious. Mr. D'Angelo himself greeted us and it almost felt like a relative's home.
Authentic & exceptional in every way! If you're in the area, make every effort to eat here.
Very nice place. Good food, service and atmosphere. We had a large party and they were very accommodating.
D'Angelo's is a favorite whenever we come into town! The food is excellent, the atmosphere fantastic and the dancing so fun!!
Interesting Southern Italian restaurant with attentive service and a varied menu. The seafood pasta is highly priced, making it not a good value. On Saturday evening safter dining hours, the place becomes a discotheque.
I would recommend D'Angelos for the food and service. However, we had an incident with the maitre 'd
that was very unpleasant. Here it is. The hostess seated us at a small table for two, handed us menus and walked away. Not only was the table quite small but it was next to a prep station which was very active. We asked a waitress if we could change our table and she said we could, so we picked a larger table that seats 4 and she said that was OK. Our waiter took our order for wine and after he brought the wine the maitre'd came over and told us we had to move because we could not sit at a 4 table if there were only 2 of us. When we told him we did not want to sit at a small table he was adamant and told us he had people waiting for a 4 table. We asked if we could be compensated in some way for moving and he said (in a very nasty manner)"What do you want a free dinner?" We refused to move. We were celebrating an 85th birthday and wanted some luxury of being comfortable. He walked away angry. We continued to sit there and finish our dinner. Waiter was excellent and gracious.
