We believe in supporting our local artisans and staying connected to our Black Hills community. At a time when the area is growing and expanding, we are striving to keep the flavor of the region alive.
Inspired by the history of this area, both the aesthetics of the building and the diversity of the menu are true to our local roots, something no nation-wide franchise can duplicate. Certainly, there are other steakhouses out there, but none like ours.
From the first design to the actual construction, we have focused on creating a balance between upscale dining and a casual atmosphere-crafting a chic steakhouse where the kids are welcome too.
The rest is easy-buy the very best meat possible and prepare it correctly.

Prime Rib Dinner
Served Nightly. A classic! Our popular Prime rib served with whipped horseradish cream sauce
South Dakota's state fish, herb breaded and served with orange honey sauce
Crispy strips of Dakotah walleye, served with fresh made tartar sauce
Great service, great atmosphere, and great food, especially the Prime Rib!
Excellent. Good food and drink. Excellent. Good food and drink. Excellent. Good food and drink. Excellent. Good food and drink. Excellent. Good food and drink.
We had the Chateaubriand for 2 and it was the best dinner we’ve ever had! Exceptional! We’ll be back!
Very good food. A little on the pricey side but somewhat expected. Service was really good. Server juggled many tables very well. The Creme Brûlée is a must!
Our steaks were great. Some of the best we have had recently. Our only issue was the waitress. She forgot and messed up our order. We wrote that off to her being new. If you are in the area, I would recommend this steakhouse.
Excellent food and service. The walleye was superb
Like many restaurants these days, Dakotah is experiencing a severe shortage of staff. You would not know it from the extra mile that Trevor, our server, and the rest of the staff went to make our entire experience amazing. We enjoyed the Chateaubriand for two and we both thought it was the best steak ever!
Found this place online and was a bit skeptical as I was taking my wife for her birthday dinner; however, turned out great. Everything was phenomenal! Especially enjoyed having Buffalo for the first time…it was excellent. Next time we’re anywhere near Rapid City, SD, we will make a point of returning!
They accommodated us earlier than our reservation of 4:30. Our waitress Brandi was very helpful with our sides and very courteous! It was pretty quiet and they limited reservations to maintain social distancing. The cowboy ribeye was enough for my wife and me. It was cooked according to our request. Very juicy as well. Highly recommend this and we are from out of town. Would go there again if we’re in the area!
Woderful food! Great service! Will definately be back.
Service was good and fast for such a nice place. Food was delicious. Highly recommend!!
We went to Rapid to celebrate our 5th Anniversary and take my little brother, who’s going to school there, out. We all had Buffalo and while expensive, very good. Our waitress was outstanding and all hosts were exceptional.
Very good food and the service was excellent, thank you
Every time we come back to Rapid City Dakota's is one of out first stops!! Love it!
Wonderful food and service. Thumb up for our server "Marcus". He reminds my college days work as a server. I can tell he love his job and have fun while doing it.
Highly recommend for a good meal and enjoyable evening.
We had an absolutely outstanding meal here tonight. The buffalo and walleye dishes were superb. Our waitress was terrific, the service outstanding and the ambience was just perfect for our last dinner in Rapid City. Highly recommended.
Our server was very good but he couldn’t overcome the poor food. Wife ordered the aged rib-eye medium rare and it came out well done. Sent it back and waited a long time to get a second one that was still slightly overcooked. I ordered the BBQ Buffalo bone. It tasted like overcooked pot roast. Very dry and the BBQ sauce taste like steak sauce. With one glass of wine and one desert the bill with tip was over $150.00
Service was fair. Messed up our order. Food was just ok, nothing special.
Very friendly waiter and food was out of this world.
Four seasoned big city travelers give high rating to the Buffalo filet and walleye! Regular steak good but not great. Native American Two Sisters soup fabulous and left us craving more. Server was excellent-there when you needed him but not intrusive to conversation. Good for friends and business alike. Temperature was too cold inside for the outside weather which became an issue. Dining room was spread out. A short cab ride from downtown but worth the drive!
It was recommended that I get a reservation and was easy to do through open table
They are restricting capacity because of Covid so make your reservation early
Outstanding. The walleye was the best and my husband got the Buffalo bone. Very relaxing atmosphere and top notch service💕
Food is always consistent and great.
Good variety of food choices and prices. Great appearance both inside and out.
Outstanding! Dinner was absolutely perfect (Filet Mignon, baked potato and a salad). Service was great. Didn't have to wait long. Friendly staff. I would definitely go back.
First time there on vacation and wish we had one in Iowa
Trever was our server and he did outstanding! He kept us in the loop of when food would be out and just all around amazing customer service!
Our tomahawk steak was really good and the service was good.
Our steaks were excellent. They are short staffed so service was slow. We had a nice time though.
Everything was great until after we got our food. Our server check on us only once and we had to wait almost 15 minutes to get our check. The hostess checked on us twice as she was walking by and said she would get our server to bring our check it still took almost 10 minutes after the first time the hostess checked on us. That is one of my biggest pet peeves.
Our server Tina was very knowledgeable about the menu and options
She was very attentive and nice
My guests were here from Texas and wanted to order a steak and see how it compared to Texas, since they felt that nothing could compare
Well the SD beef won by a wide margin!
Lovely restaurant! Feels like each guest is celebrated and given great service. We enjoy the ambiance, the service, and of course, the food. The food is always amazing. We are excited to go back!
Outstanding service and the food was delicious!
Outstanding! After a tiring day in the Badlands, having a nice meal in such a tasteful and relaxed atmosphere was wonderful.
Dakotah Steakhouse was an absolutely terrific restaurant in Rapid City - very strongly recommended for awesome steaks & prime rib. It was the best meal of our trip to South Dakota.
Our server Christie was amazing and offered us wonderful recommendations.
We so enjoyed Dakotah Steakhouse that we returned for another meal towards the end of our trip to the South Dakota Black Hills.
We will for sure return to Dakotah Steakhouse the next time we are in Rapid City.
Great restaurant and fabulous food.
Food was great and came out in a timely manner. Prices were very fair and our server Alix was awesome and stayed on top of everything.
Food and service were great 😊 sorry there is a problem getting help because of govt. handouts and you have to turn customers away. Alix was our waitress and did a terrific job even though she had to put up with my humor
This was a last minute decision to try Dakotah Steakhouse, but we were so glad we did! I had the filet and it was one of the best steaks I’ve ever had- my husband had the ribeye and said it was great, also. The ambiance was very relaxing and comfortable, very nice but not stuffy. We would rate it a 10!
