They advertise as Indian but not authentic nan is just your typical pizza flat bread and they don't even have a clay oven to make authentic. The sauces were more Italian gravy and they had no Lamb. There are better options in Richmond

I love Curry Craft's food. Sometimes, I feel as if the service or communications between the kitchen and the wait staff is spotty though. I'm not sure what that is about. And I really can't understand why the restaurant is not packed all the time b/c the food is so good. When I came in this time, the server was very welcoming and attentive. I was waiting for my date who was caught in the rain and having trouble parking. I had time to look at the menu and order a drink. I had decided that I wanted to order the Pondicherry escargots when my date arrived. The server suggested that he would put the order in as soon as my date arrived. But when she arrived, even though there weren't a whole lot of people in the restaurant, our waiter appeared to have forgotten his suggestion. I had to order it later when he finally came over to take our order. It's not a big deal. But he shouldn't have suggested this "auto" order if he couldn't fulfill such. Overall, we had a lovely dinner. We also appreciated the chef sending out a second dessert of kofi (yummy...not too sweet and the nut paste consistency was fantastic) after we chose the gulab jamun (also wonderful)

Call ahead and request a tasting menu - worth the time and money! Best Indian restaurant in Richmond (yes, better than Anokha and Lehja!). The food is much more Indian-fusion than traditional Indian. Chef takes it to the next level.

The food was delicious! Our waiter explained each dish including the specials, and indicated carefully which were very spicy. The three of us shared 2 appetizers (chaat and amazing escargot--not the French preparation, a little more heat and crispness), each had a different chicken entree and all were good, a bottle of wine, a platter of naan. The restaurant was quiet even with a number of other diners, and my friends, facing Cary Street, enjoyed the urban scene as it passed by.

I went to Curry Craft with my best friend on Valentines Day. We had made a reservation just in case it was super busy. When we walked in, it was clear that a reservation hadn't been necessary. There were only two other parties sitting down. We stood for approximately 4 minutes at the front door (very awkward) before finally being approached by a server, who simply told us to wait for someone to seat us (umm, thanks?) When the next server approached, he pointed us to a table and that was that. Grateful that we were finally acknowledged, we decided to give the staff the benefit of the doubt; however, 10 minutes later we still had not been provided menus, water, or even a simple "how are you?" We got up and left. The experience left both my friend and I very uncomfortable and annoyed.

I can always depend on Mel at Curry Craft to serve the freshest, most delicious, most creative and interesting Indian food in the city. And in the prettiest dining room to boot. Thanks for another wonderful dinner!

The lamb curry sauce was reasonably tasty, but the lamb was cooked to death. The prawn Curry was apparently made with tomato soup. The garlic naan was truly terrible.

Skip it. Place is all hype.

It took nearly 15 mins to receive a glass of water and the menu initially. We were reedy to leave and would have earlier had we not been talking. Initial oversight my be okay, but it continued the entire meal (see below).

If the place was packed it would have been at least a bit more excusable. However, half the tables indicated they were "reserved" and were empty. In other words, the service shouldn't have been this bad. Further, we went long periods without service (again, water fill-up, addtl rice, etc.) and took 1.5 hours to eat dinner.
