Best Vegetarian / Vegan Restaurants in Fitzroy North

Vegie Bar has been an institution in Fitzroy for decades and it continues to offer excellent food and service at reasonable prices. My husband and I, who have been coming here since our uni days (him in the 1990s, and me in the early 2000s) recently introduced our 7 year old and it's now his favourite restaurant. The menu occasionally changes but the old favourites remain and everything is delicious.

Food was outstanding and the beer/wine list was amazing, 9 out of our 12 person party were carnivores who were very happy, aswell as the 3 vegans, the meals were perfectly portioned and all the takes on meat based meals were winners to the point of being almost non distinguishable from the their meat counterparts. Local beer and wine well paired with the regular menu and the sunday roast was a hit. The staff were welcoming and engaging. Highly recommend and would eat here everyday if i could.

Excellent experience. Great value food. Lovely venue, restaurant and bar. Easy to hear each other during conversation. Friendly down to earth staff.
