A Delightful Dive into Thai Flavors at Osha Thai Embarcadero As relative newcomers to this restaurant cuisine, we truly appreciated the guidance of our waiter. He offered a thoughtful selection of recommendations, catering to various taste preferences, which immediately set a welcoming tone for our meal. We ended up choosing the Spicy Basil Rice and the Pad See You, and both dishes were truly outstanding in their own right. The Spicy Basil Rice lived up to its name, offering a pleasant kick of heat that was wonderfully balanced by a medley of fantastic flavors. It was the kind of dish that keeps you coming back for another bite. In contrast, the Pad See You offered a completely different, yet equally impressive, flavor profile. Without any noticeable spice, this dish showcased a richness and depth of taste that was simply fabulous. The noodles were perfectly cooked, and the overall harmony of ingredients made it a comforting and satisfying choice. Beyond the excellent recommendations, the service at Osha was attentive and friendly. The ambiance of the restaurant on the Embarcadero also added to the overall positive experience. The food was generally good. The green curry was a bit too spicy - the waiter should’ve discussed spice levels with us as we just went with the default and that is too spicy for most folks (we are used to a lot of spicy food). Besides that the other food was really fresh and tasty. The portions were not huge but not too small either. The prices are a bit high but the ambience somewhat justifies it. The service was great and the food came out in a timely manner. One thing we found odd was that they bring out the birthday singing and the drums only if you order dessert! Most places give a token free dessert - they didn’t tell us this before we got our check. We had said it was a birthday dinner on our reservation. We didn’t want dessert but wanted the singing for our birthday girl - we had to send the check back and order some dessert just for that. At these prices, they should be able to give a token dessert for free with the birthday singing.

We ordered platha, a salad, curry, and noodles for 3 people and it was the perfect amount of food. The platha with chicken dip was a hit, and the lamb curry was my favorite. We also enjoyed the fresh salad being mixed at our table. The ambience and service was typical for SF, but you are really going and paying for the excellent food.

The fried chicken is my favorite. Very large portions. Also had the tea leaf salad whick was really good. I come here quite often.

Last Friday we dined at the Coconut Bay restaurant to celebrate our friend’s birthday. My reservation was at 12 noon for party of 3. When we arrived, I was impressed by the reception area. Gerry checked us in and I mentioned that it was our first time eating here. The dining rooms’ decorations created a particular atmosphere or feeling of Thai. We changed our booth table to a standard table. It was not crowded the day we dined. Gerry, the server, was very helpful explaining the lunch menu sets. Our eyes were on the Deluxe Lunch Set. He also clarified the type of noodles from Group A and obliged my friend’s request without egg. We ordered Highway & Drunkard Noodles separately. Then we had the same Tofu & Egglant from Group B order but I got the choice of seafood and my friends had the shrimps. The food arrived one at a time that was served similar to a bento box. The food had a harmonious blend of sweet, sour, salty, and spicy tastes. We asked for a bowl of steamed rice to complement our tofu & eggplant dish. We all said the food was scrumptious. Later Gerry came with a birthday cheesecake that surprised our friend. Our other friend ordered the same deluxe lunch to take home. Overall, the atmosphere or ambiance, food and service of Gerry & other staff are excellent. We will definitely go again!
