Rengaya has been serving YAKINIKU in North Sydney since 1993, making it one of Australia’s pioneering Japanese barbeque restaurants. Now, that tradition is set to continue at its new digs on Miller Street – just a short stroll from the original location – in a much more modern, striking setting. The new fit-out features bar-counter seats around an open kitchen, red booth seating divided by Japanese-style timber panelling and a hard-to-miss chandelier. There’s also a 20-seat private dining room. We use only the finest ingredients such as Japanese Black Cattle made in Australia for beef, Sashimi and Seafood fresh from the sea. Masuya Restaurant is located in a building, which has been designated as a cultural asset, on O’Connell Street in Sydney. This is the same place as the office of Kanematsu Gosho, the pioneer of Australia – Japan trades, was situated in 1980.     Exceptional restaurant. 20 courses for a set price, and some of those most delicious Japanese food we've had. A few things we'd never tried before too, which was special - abalone being one of them. We were absolutely satisfied by the end of it - really exceptional value for money. Service and vibe were extremely authentic - Jiho and his team are beautiful people and very passionate about what they do. Currently BYO, which was great for us, although they have great menu for those who are so inclined.

    This was our third time having omakase here over the past three years, and it never disappoints. The food was absolutely amazing as always – fresh, beautifully presented. The chef is incredibly kind and welcoming, which makes the whole experience even more special. Most importantly, we had a lovely night with our best friends. Highly recommend for a memorable dining experience!
