Opera Tavern is a beautiful two-storey bar and restaurant in the heart of central London’s theatre land. Located on Catherine Street we are opposite the Drury Lane Theatre, seconds from the Opera House, a stone’s throw from The Strand and a lovely walk across Waterloo Bridge from the South Bank. A beautiful former pub, the exposed brickwork, bold artwork and flattering low lighting help our two-story restaurant create the perfect atmosphere for a pre-theatre meal or drink.     The food was sublime. High quality ingredients expertly cooked & presented. Caters extremely well for gluten free clients. All the staff are friendly, efficient & attentive. Ordered a lovely sherry & glass of red between two of us both of which were quite pricey so only stuck to the one drink.

    Our server James was terrific! The food was delicious but our appetizers could have been warmer. The pre theatre menu is a bargain.

    Overall, the experience was pleasant, with a good atmosphere, although the music could be improved. However, the table service was terrible. Despite having a reservation for eight people, we always had to go to the bar to order drinks and ask for someone to attend to us at the table. The only time a staff member approached us was when it was time to pay the bill. The waiters showed no good attitude or customer service at all. Other than that, we liked the bar, especially the experience with the salsa classes.
