Masuya Restaurant is located in a building, which has been designated as a cultural asset, on O’Connell Street in Sydney. This is the same place as the office of Kanematsu Gosho, the pioneer of Australia – Japan trades, was situated in 1980. Masuya Restaurant opened in 1993, then full renovation was implemented in 2006.The approx. five meters long sushi counter, designed by architect Robert Toland in ‘kabuki red’ with an idea of the stage of kabuki, has since fascinated not only local Australian customers but also various people with different backgrounds.A showcase displays more than 20 different sushi ingredients everyday including locally produced fish, which is purchased on the day. From the moment you step in, the experience was spot on. Friendly greeting, great vibe and fantastic music. Not cheap but this is either a treat night or something for the corporate crew. Would recommend going easy on the starters as they are generous and very filling or just go with starters only.

That was the best meal I have had in as long as I can remember. The food was amazing. Not only delicious, but the presentation is beautiful. The staff were super friendly and accommodating, and I couldnt think of a better way to spend quality time with my staff on a beautiful Sydney afternoon.

Probably the best kept secret in Sydney!! if you are after genuine Italian, created & served by the most divine Italians this is your place! Very reasonable prices, phenomenal quality and absolutely delicious! better than an epside of Stanley Tucci's Searching for Italy !
