What do you do when you want something done properly – especially when you’re a long way from home and you simply can’t find exactly what you’re looking for? Well, the tried and tested answer, of course, is to do it yourself – and that is exactly what Giuseppe, founder of Sapore Vero did, when he created our first Pizzeria in Beckenham, South East London – now entering its 11th year of trade – and then opened a 2nd in nearby Hither Green in 2019. After moving to London (quite some years ago now!), Giuseppe quickly found himself becoming frustrated with a lack of truly authentic Italian pizza, “that I liked”, as he puts it, produced using the methods that he grew up with, like generations before him, in his native Calabria, Southern Italy.

"A unique and beautiful pizzeria in one of the hidden gems of South London; Venn St"We opened our pizzeria in Clapham a few years ago with a simple mission; serve great food in a beautiful space, like with all of the Berberè sites. Now, a few years later we have lovely local following that come in droves, especially at the weekend.Although open all year round, from springtime onwards you can sit outside on the terrace with a negroni, glass of prosecco or a craft beer and transport yourself to Italy, surrounded by festoon lights and olive trees. Inside, you'll find two beautiful rooms with an open kitchen that spreads across the two sides. If you're lucky and book enough in advance, you could hire the side room for a private booking (up to 40 people). We've had people celebrate birthdays galore, wedding parties, end of exam parties to name a few - you name the occasion and we'll sort the party.

    Fab as always, we LOVE our meals at Sapero Vero I was recommended the Beef Shin Ravioli dish by the lovely waitress Anna and it was OUTSTANDING, my new fave! The girls had the kids pizza + ice cream and they LOVED it too!

    What a hidden gem! Booked it on a whim for my parents for a joint birthday and early father's day dinner and it was amazing! Really great service, nice and friendly, the food was delicious, great setting and music - overall loved it and will definitely go back again!

    Totti is definitely a lovely restaurant with lovely staff and amazing food. Service was good, even tho it would have been nice to have got our starters a little faster then 40 mins, but they were very busy so we understood and wasn't in a rush. Good prices, good food and great staff.

    We were running 5mins late for our booked table. We were welcomed straight away and drinks order taken. Our table was wiped and set and we were good to go. Appetizers took a little time to arrive as the restaurant was full and buzzing! Main course arrived and I just wish that my arrabiata had been a smidge more punchy. Overall, a lovely meal out :)
