Montys is a traditional and authentic Nepalese Restaurant, owned by husband and wife team of Shiva and Lina Gautam. Although we get, wrongly, categorised as an Indian, I can say proudly that we are Nepalese all the way through, owned, cooked and served by Nepalese. The real deal, we are what we say on the tin, so to speak. Montys of Kathmandu opened its doors to the public, very quietly, without any fanfare, on a wet September evening 1997, hence it took us forever to get noticed! But after over 15 years of serving great Nepalese food to the Irish public as well as our visitors from abroad, we are now very much part of the Dublin’s premium ethnic restaurant. Montys of Kathmandu offers a great variety of Nepalese food at great value with great Nepalese service, where the customers are always treated with great respect. Our focus is to source quality raw ingredients and prepare all dishes in house, taking no short cuts and serve great Nepalese food.

    Even though the setting of the restaurant is not exactly kids friendly, the staff has been welcoming and very understanding around the 3 kids we had with us. The food was fantastic (I've been dreaming of a Dahl bat for months and it met my expectation) I've read that they had an amazing wine selection - this is an understatement! We picked a bottle of an organic white wine from Argentina - delicious! Good sherry and port too. A great evening where we've been welcomed even earlier than our booked time and with our toddlers. Thank you.

    An amazing early bird, super accommodating for swapping out some of the starters, the loveliest staff and a delicious meal. Diwali is like an old style restaurant in that the service is super attentive, and tylhe poppadoms and chutneys come with the meal and no extra charges for rice and naan. A proper, authentic Indian with old hospitality and no rush to leave. In a city of chains and disinterested servers, this is my new go to spot. Felt so taken care of. Also, best naan ever!

    We are frequent diners at Thamel, our favourite place to eat out. The food is exceptional, the best in the area. The staff are incredibly nice. They always go above and beyond to ensure that we have the best experience. We have a three year old and he loves the food and is always treated with such kindness by the staff. We highly recommend.
