The Reef (conocido originalmente como Comptons), fue construido por la familia Usina en una hermosa propiedad frente al mar en la tranquila North Beach, a unos 4.8 kilómetros del Usina Bridge, en un área que había pertenecido a la familia por generaciones. Comptons abrió en 1989 y gozó de mucho éxito por los siguientes diez años. Cerró en 1999 debido a la delicada salud del señor Compton y por los daños causados por un huracán. Quedan pocos restaurantes auténticos frente al mar en el noreste de Florida y de todos ellos el que ofrece las vistas más espectaculares es The Reef, el cual fue reinaugurado en 2002 bajo el mando directo de la familia Usina. Puede sentarse en cualquiera de las mesas interiores y la vista será siempre cambiante (por decir lo menos), o disfrutar de la plataforma recientemente ampliada en donde podrá no solo mirar al océano, sino escuchar además el romper de las olas y el canto de los pájaros. Para complementar esta vista el chef Bob Henle ha creado un menú compuesto principalmente de pescado y mariscos, el cual complementa con carne, aves y especiales creativos siempre frescos y obtenidos de proveedores locales en la medida de lo posible.
