From the moment you step inside Kinka Izakaya Original you are warmly welcomed with the rich decor and the greetings from the servers. We were celebrating a special Mother and Daughter birthday weekend in Downtown Toronto and I wanted to try an authentic Japanese food experience. We started with appetizers of edemami and calamari, then had our entrees of assorted aburi sushi 8 pieces and salmon rice bowl bibimbap. WOW, such unbelievable umami flavours from one bite to the next. Absolutely the BEST authentic Japanese food I've ever had (other than in actual Japan). Our dinner ended with a surprise free birthday macha cheesecake & black sesame ice cream and a keepsake polaroid picture to commemorate our special evening. Amazing dishes, friendly staff and great atmosphere!

We reserved two tables and the restaurant was accommodating enough to reserve the two tables beside each other. Celebrated my birthday with a slice of matcha cheesecake courtesy of Kinka. Food came in fast and delicious. Thank you.

Another superb dining experience at Sumoki! Our must haves are corn ribs, chicken wings and onikuri! All the yakitori are made to perfection - though we prefer chicken thighs over breasts.
