Abate Pizza started in 1956 by its founder Joseph N. Abate, also know as "pop" to his family. He opened his first pizzeria on Whalley Avenue and called it Luigi's, after his father. He set out to make the perfect pizza, experimenting with the best Italian products and succeeded with a pizza everyone loved.As we know, behind every successful man is good women and her name is Rose, Joe's wife. Rose supported and worked with Joe while rising their seven children.
