Das »Pförtnerhaus« im Straßenbahnring, Ecke Falkenried, im Hamburger Stadtteil Eppendorf erinnert noch an die Zeit, als in der Hauptwerkstatt Falkenried (1894 bis 1978) elektrische Straßenbahnen gebaut wurden. Im inzwischen denkmalgeschützten Gebäude verbindet sich das Zeugnis vom industriellen Fortschritt mit städtebaulicher Nostalgie. Im Jahr 2004 wurde das ehemalige Pförtnerhaus für die Marsbar-Gastronomie um- und ausgebaut. Angefangen als »Caffeteria e Paninoteca«, entwickelte sich das Angebot hinter der historischen Rotklinker-Fassade bis heute zur »Weinbar und Restaurant«.Die Marsbar verfügt über 75 Innenplätze und weitere 80 Außenplätze auf der Terrasse. Die Plätze direkt an der Bar erlauben einen Blick in die offene Küche. Der Restaurantbereich bietet mit verglaster Fensterfront, kleinen Tischen und einer langen Ledersitzbank Platz für entspanntes Speisen in unkonventioneller Atmosphäre. Im Eingangsbereich kann man auf Barhockern an Hochtischen am Fenster sitzen.

    Wir sind auf der Suche nach einem Italiener für eine größere Familienfeier, haben schon ein paar Restaurants ausprobiert. Das Essen hier war sehr gut, auch die Atmosphäre ist absolut stimmig. Man fühlt sich gut aufgehoben. Nur am Service muss dringend gearbeitet werden: Es hat alles sehr lange gedauert, wir haben nach gut 30 Minuten mit abgegessenen Tellern dann auch auf ein Dessert verzichtet. Schade, denn das Restaurant hat durchaus Potential.

    Zwei Michelinsterne absolut gerechtfertigt. Eher 3 Sterne Niveau. Viel besser gehts kaum. Eine Super Alternative zu The Table oder Haerlin. M.E. momentan das beste Restaurant in Hamburg. Sehr carb-reduzierte Gaenge. Daher stopft es auch nicht so wie in anderen Gourmeterestaurants wo man nach dem 6-7 Gang schon ziemlich voll ist. Die Carb-Gelueste kann man an dem vorzüglichen Sauerteigbrot stillen. Tipp : Die Alkoholfreie Getraenkebegleitung. Relativ günstig und aeusserst harmonisch und interessant auf die Gerichte abgestimmt.
