Our Property located at 501 S. Main Street in Historic St. Charles, Missouri dates back to 1805 as the first recorded deed on file which was one year after Lewis and Clark arrived in the area. The Property was purchased for $1500 with a consideration of $500 worth of Animal Skins. Our Existing Building was built around the turn of the Century. It housed many different businesses and residencies throughout time. It was a Pharmacy, Meat Locker, Meat Processing Plant and Tavern. It was known to Bootleg Whiskey during Prohibition. After Prohibition, This establishment turned into a full-fledged Tavern Named, The Golden Buffet. It remained as such until 1986 when it was renovated to become ‘Winery of the Little Hills’ Winery and Bistro. In June of 1995, the Historic portion of the building was destroyed by fire. It was then renovated and expanded to include a full service restaurant with Wine Making in the Cellar.
