Best Contemporary Mexican Restaurants in Upper Lake

We love Bar Camino, and we will continue to go there, but had a weird experience with the hostess last night. She seems to be very inflexible on the general seating rules rather than being flexible and accommodating to the guests. Part of it was my misunderstanding that happy hour is only on the front inside patio and they typically do not seat parties of six or more and we were eight. Unfortunately, that was not made known before we got there. Our server was excellent and he accommodated moving us to the patio, which did NOT seem problematic for a party of eight at all and we had a great time!

Overall everything eas good. We had not been to Pedro's for a very long time. It is far from home and out of our daily outings. So we decided to try them again. On the menu was mole enchiladas and chicken tinga which tells you it has real Mexican as opposed to American Mexican food with enchiladas in a red sauce. Sad to see you had to pay for chips and salsa. But it is the norm now with chips and or bread often times.

The remodeling was disappointing. It was painted the same dull yellow throughout and the round booths were a reminder of the 1970s. There wasn’t any warmth in the restaurant. When you go to a Chinese , Italian or French restaurant , it is usually decorated with the cultural taste of that region. Instead, it felt as though I were in a generic coffee shop.

Authentic food, great atmosphere and genuine great service

Too loud. But service was great very helpful and attentive. Drinks were good and fast. Food came out quickly and was tasty. The only issue is their chips are bad. Small broken pieces that look like the leftovers of a bag.
