- BBethVIPNew York City •14 reviews4.0Dined 7 days agoThis was our first time here. We were a party of four. I’m going to tell you that a restaurant has one time to make a first impression, and for me that first impression is the host or hostess. If I am greeted warmly, with a smile, I am set up for a nice time. The hostess here never cracked a smile and barely uttered a word. I saw her seat many guests and I never once saw a smile on her face. She’s too young to be so miserable, so unless she was having a really bad night, she may not be the best front person. Let’s get to the food. We sat down and were immediately asked if we wanted drinks. I ordered sparkling water, my husband order wine, our friends order wine and some other drink (I wasn’t paying attention). The drinks came out pretty quickly (within 10 minutes). About 15 minutes later we placed an appetizer order (2 things) and our main courses. One appetizer came out in about ten minutes, the other in about 20 minutes. We were enjoying our appetizers and conversations. We also noticed that people around us who sat down after us had already been served dinner. We said nothing, and continued our conversations. Our reservations were at 6:30 and at 8:15 we still had not been served. Seems they dropped the ball on our order. After a few minutes we were served dinner. We weren’t mad, we didn’t get upset, we shrugged our shoulders and started telling story of other dining experiences where the ticket got “lost.” It happens. When the food arrived, we certainly enjoyed it as it was very good. Our server whose name were didn’t know had one chance to end our dinner on an up note by offering us dessert, but he didn’t. Not mad, but we discussed it on the drive home. One last thing….if you want a relaxing dinner where you can have a conversation with your dinner companion, this is not the place. The noise level is very high. The food is good, but I don’t know when I might be back.More infoLa Strada Italian Kitchen & BarPrice: Expensive• Italian• Birmingham•4.7

- MmattToronto / Ontario •5 reviews4.0Dined on May 30, 2025We visited for our anniversary. The service, from the host greeting us and our server, were excellent. They each wished us a happy anniversary at the beginning and end of the meal. I enjoy the drink menu and the seasonality of the food menu. We love the Greek salad. It isn’t a typical Greek and is something special. This was the first time since our first visit that we ordered the bread as an appetizer. I wish I hadn’t. The price and menu indicated that it was artisanal and top tier bread. It was neither. This was a true miss. At $15, it should be stellar. They served a tomato consommé as an amuse bouche. It was fantastic. I wish it was on the menu. We also ordered a filet. It was overcooked a bit was still tasty. The beat salad with grilled chicken was a bit average. The fries could have been wonderful but came out less than warm and not quite salty enough. We had to leave in a bit of a hurry so they gave us some fresh madeleine cookies to go. There was live music in the lobby. This was the first time that I’ve seen live music at the Daxton. I’d like to see this more frequently. Overall, there were of couple of things that, if tweaked, would make Madame truly special.More infoMadamPrice: Expensive• Global, International• Birmingham•3.9
