Our server was fast and attentive. The kitchen wasn't quite as on point as usual. They forgot the chicken in one person's salad and sent it out separately. The egg rolls were way overcooked and almost burned. It was requested that this be corrected for an added to go meal, but the one in that was just as overcooked.More infoP.F. - TTerryAustin •2 reviews5.0Dined on Jun 7, 2025We hadn't been back to Szechuan House in a year or more because the food and the service has gotten bad. Our daughter wanted to go back for her birthday, so we went. It's cleaner and fresher-looking. The tables are not all crowded in the front restaurant but now are spaced out, using both rooms well. You will immediately see the change in staff service, friendly faces, and welcoming comments. The menu, too, has changed, with some of your old favorites, but many new or reconceptualized meals. We had the Mushrooms, Home-style tofu, the green beans, Cucumber crush (with more garlic now), and vegetable spring rolls. Sadly, gone is the Crispy Tofu from the old store. We loved all of it and took much of it home. Food is served Family-style or you can eat it all yourself. There is no dessert and no wine. Our server came by occasionally to check on how we were doing, which was a change from before. My only comment is that the food has been Americanized, and as such, the heat from before has been toned down to American levels. This is too bad. Perhaps we ordered the wrong items (red print on the items means spicy, so we may not have ordered the right foods. Still, a bit more spicy would be nice. You're the Szeshuan House, after all, and Szeshuan province is known for its spicy foods. We enjoyed our evening and will definitely be back. Our whole meal for three, with tip, came to $75, and we have leftovers for this week.More infoSichuan HousePrice: Moderate• Sichuan• Far West Side•4.5
