Hawksmoor Wood Wharf is housed in an eco-friendly floating pavilion in a new riverside neighbourhood in Canary Wharf. Gently rising and falling with the tide, the main restaurant at dock-level is joined by a 120-seat waterside bar. Both include terraces with views across the water (squint your eyes and you might just see the ghosts of great ships laden with mighty lengths of timber that used to swing in and unload there). There's also a private dining room for up to 20 people named after the local legend Queenie Watts, a singer, songwriter, actor and self-confessed bawdy landlady (think Peggy Mitchell meets Joni Mitchell). The menu revolves around the best British produce the country has to offer with grass-fed dry-aged ethically reared beef, sustainable seafood from the South coast and some of the biggest hits from the Hawksmoor New York menu.

    What an evening and experience! From the moment we arrived, the warm welcome felt genuine and our evening began. Our table was situated perfectly within an intimate room, exposed to the kitchen, felt the perfect setting for our evening. The ‘surprise’ snacks were incredible and the food that followed, each course described impeccably, was outstanding. My strawberry allergy was accommodated with short notice and replaced a main course of the tasting menu with an indescribably amazing dish. The team, another level. Personable, knowledgeable and so warm, we really felt we were experiencing dinner in someone’s home! Such an intimate and welcoming experience. Can’t wait to return. Huge congratulations to an entire team of professionals.

    From start to finish. From the vibe to the meticulous execution and not to mention the homey feel. All perfect. Delicious. Can’t wait to go again. Next Friday we are there. To try the rest of the menu.
