Saturday is probably not the day for a quiet lunch in a pub but they do their best to have a few dining tables not impacted by the TV. The food is ambitious but just misses the mark. Roasted vegetables would be better plated plain than served on tough, toasted sourdough, and the hoisin mushroom spring roll was over crisp and hard to cut. Fish and chips and soup were tasty. However the star of the show was the sticky toffee pudding which was outstanding. The really outstanding element was the service from Bronte. She would be at home in a five star hotel. Warm, friendly, knowledgeable, professional. Kudos to Brontë. She is the memory we took away from our lunch.

Excellent service as always. Georgia was her usual cheerful & efficiant self, and the waiter who took the food order was also good. One minor problem with one beer was sorted out promptly. End of a barrel: well, that happens. No fuss; no criticism
