The whole experience was spoilt a little because the mains arrived at the table while we were eating the appetizers. I asked for the food to go back to the kitchen as we wouldn't be ready for the mains for another 10mins - only to be told the food would have to sit under the heating lamps which would affect the quality. Indeed it did - overcooked $50 steak and congealed cheese on the chicken. When we left the restaurant we were told that the mandate is for the kitchen to allow just 7minutes between courses!!! That's ridiculous and needs to change, especially as the meal was close to $400 for a family of 4. The wait staff were amazing, but the kitchen let them down. Special mention to Jhune would was a superstar all night - polite, friendly and professional. Without him and his attentiveness our experience would be been a very different one, especially as the mains were not as good as they should have been.

My husband and I absolutely love California Native. We both cook a lot, eat super healthy and we're active people, but we go to CN at least once a fortnight because it's that good. The staff are great humans, always friendly, and get to know you and your order. We're obsessed with the tacos. If you are looking for a great local or excellent Mexican (even a home away from home) than California Native is the place to go.

We went there to celebrate our friend's birthday around 7 pm. The staff were super nice and friendly. I'm a vegetarian, and they tried to fulfil my requirements as I wanted the rice bowl without salmon. The food was so good; we loved the tacos so much. The turmeric and coconut rice was the best! We will definitely come back!

The presentation of the food and the atmosphere at this Newstead location was fine, but not spectacular.
