It was wonderful as I remember. Loved it.
My husband and I were visiting Charleston and this was such a great spot for dinner. Food was delicious, cooked well, and we had very attentive service.
Lunch for 4 before heading back there Kentucky. The fries with truffle oil and park were delicious, the guys loved the shrimp BLT. We had the salmon toast and one special. I didn’t love special but I did love the the squash and corn bisque. The sautéed kale was the star of the show! Great time!
Cru cafe was recommended by friends and we were so glad we got there. The menu is really creative and everything we had was delicious!
Second time to eat here in five days. Red fish was delicious. Favorite place to eat in Charleston.
We had a large party upstairs and it was an outstanding experience. Food, service, ambiance..
This is our fifth time dining at Cru Cafe. We were very early and they seated us as soon as possible. Their food is consistently fresh and delicious. Something for everyone.
As always, outstanding food and service! The fried green tomatoes are amazing and the special kale Caesar with fried shrimp was fantastic.
As always, eveerything was fantastic and just a perfect place for lunch. Would never visit Charleston
and not go to CRU at least once.
It's a must every time we come to Charleston. We have never been disappointed. When people ask where to eat this is number one on the list.
Our hotel concierge told us that Cru Cafe has the best fried green tomatoes in Charleston and she was definitely right! They were amazing.
Our favorite meal so far. Menu items I recognized. The scallops and red snapper were delicious and the pear salad was superb. Finished the meal with a slice of orange sherbet cake. I definitely want to go back.
We have been coming to Cru Cafe for more than 10 years & it never lets us down. The food is always superb. The mussels absolutely melted in my mouth. Menu is always varied, & service excellent.
The Cru Cafe is a delightful cafe with special ambiance. There's a nice selection of menu options and local flavor. It's rather small so I'd recommend making reservations.
Don’t let the use of “Cafe” in the name dissuade you! Yes to small and casual but way more than snacks and coffee. Everything in our two dinners from the starters of Butter Lettuce Salad and Mussels, through the entrees of Salmon and Strip Steak and ending with Chocolate Torte and coffee was exceptional. As for the portion sizes written about in another review, they were definitely not small nor did we leave hungry. Maybe hungry to come back and to come back soon. It was that good and rates with the 9 other top 10 restaurants in Charleston.
Very cute place, near the Market. Was able to sit outside and enjoy the great weather. Fried green tomatoes were excellent, the pork belly made a great combo. I had the fried chicken, it was very good, would have been better if the potato gratin would have been hot, it was just warm, the vegetable were also just warm. My wife had the duck breast that was truly outstanding.
This restaurant has some of the best Fried Green Tomatoes! We all had something different to eat and everything was excellent and cooked to perfection!
Our server was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu and extremely efficient! What an enjoyable experience!
One of my favorite places in Charleston. There isn't an item on the menu that isn't delicious and unique. Great place for a fun lunch with friends or family, but also a nice spot for a date night for two. Portion sizes are great, beer and wine list is also good. There's a reason it's always busy!
The ambience was charming and the service we had was outstanding. They were more than willing to split dishes and accommodate our food sensitivities with a smile on their face. This meant a lot! The food was fresh, flavorful and delicious. Charleston is packed with great restaurants but Cru stands out at the top!
Loud, very loud
Fantastic! I would recommend and go back to Cru. The food was great!
The food was outstanding! The french dip was big and delicious. The shrimp blt was amazing. I loved the grilled bread and the smokey flavor. The sandwich was perfect with the creamy lobster bisque. Can't wait to go back again.
We arrived with a reservation and we're seated right away. We had mussles for an appitizer. It was out fantastic. Flavor was amazing. Salads followed. Also, very delicious. The grouper was served with crispy skin and cooked perfectly. Would highly suggest this restaurant when in town.
Amazing food and service. Would highly recommend. Staff was outstanding— my mother fell on the way to dinner and they helped clean her scrape and gave us bandaids. Everything was incredible!
Comfortable relaxed. Atmosphere. Pleasant and efficient service. Food and wine were excellent and everything on the menu very fresh.
Phenomenal lunch @ Cru Cafe. Best chicken sandwich I’ve ever had! Can’t wait to go back when in Charleston
Outrageously good dinner! We all ordered something different so we could sample 4 different dinner dishes. Split the large duck confit salad which was big enough for everyone to get a good portion and there was no skimping on the amount of tender duck pieces. Highly recommend both the Thai seafood risotto and the grilled basil shrimp with orecchiette! And our server (a young girl) was sweet, fun and very helpful with our dinner selections. Divine!! Will definitely go again!
The food and ambience were outstanding, but I was disappointed in the service. It was not at all warm and somewhat utilitarian. I would have expected more from a restaurant with such a great reputation.
great food, local ingredients, welcoming atmosphere, but pricey
Small space, but very popular. Historic ambiance...we had a table on the porch. Host was especially welcoming and fit us in prior to our reservation for lunch, as we were heading to the airport. Service was friendly and attentive. Menu was a bit limited but each of us found something we enjoyed. I’d recommend the goat cheese salad! Reservations required
One of our all time favorites spots in Charleston for lunch or dinner.
The Wife love the place and food. Was a hit. Would go back in a heart beat
Once again, proves to be the best food in Charleston. Every dish beyond compare.
The Farro salad was amazing!
Favorite restaurant in Charleston. Thanks for never disappointing
Had dinner outside on the restaurant’s covered poach. Food was very good with a nice bottle of wine.
Had reservation for lunch. Arrived 15 minutes early and was promptly seated.
We ordered General Tos Chicken and it was very tasty and our servings were generous.
We also ordered
Flourless Chocolate Torte to go and it was a delicious treat for later in the day. Service was commendable and we'll return when we're in Charleston again.
We’ve dined at many Charleston restaurants over the years. This one was recommended by a colleague of a family member. The flavor profiles were excellent. I had the Seared Sea Scallops. They were prepared perfectly. My husband had the Maple Leaf Duck Breast and my Mother, the Thai Seafood Risotto. We agreed that this was the best meal of the trip. The service was excellent and the meal was fairly priced. We will return.
