Criollo at Hotel Monteleone
Criollo, the Spanish word for Creole and the name chosen for the new restaurant, represents the amalgam of cultures reflected in our cooking and the unique tastes that comprise Louisiana cuisine.
Fashioned with Louisiana & the Gulf South region's abundant bounty of fresh, home grown products from the land & sea, Criollo's ingredient-driven seasonal menu is designed to offer creative dishes inspired by culinary traditions & an appreciation of today's contemporary tastes.

Of my recent weekend stay in New Orleans, this restaurant had THE BEST service, food and waitstaff of all the places we visited. Everyone was exceptionally courteous, friendly and attentive to our needs. I could not have asked for a better experience for my first visit to Criollo's. I will DEFINITELY return and would recommend it highly to everyone I know!
The food selection was limited and good (not great). The staff seated everyone close by each other with a lot of open tables around the restaurant. Not cool!
We had a great dinner with these folks. They took good care of us. We both had fish and it was very nicely done.
Amazing cocktails, food that made me love Southern Cuisine.
Went for lunch and had the steak and the puff pastry filled with various seafood. It was good and great value.
Such an amazing restaurant! Everything was excellent. The duck is very delicious and the service was great. It’s a short walk from Bourbon Street.
Service was not good. Soup arrived at room temperature. When asked to reheat it, they zapped it under microwave for a minute. We asked them to split our entree. They did a terrible job. The courses were served too quickly.
The ambiance was excellent and we were staying at the Monteleone, which made this a very nice dining option.
The food was just ok, compared to what else New Orleans has to offer. After having had lunch at NOLA on St Louis the same day, the comparison to the food at Criollo was emphasized. Criollo did not quite have the flair that you would expect for a really good New Orleans restaurant.....The food was good, but I could have had a similar meal in Atlanta.
Food and service were amazing as always. They gave us a wonderful dessert for my birthday.
Only complaint is that we felt a bit rushed. Otherwise it was lovely.
Great food. Authentic New Orleans friend service. Complimentary bread and butter service is amazing.
I went there for an anniversary and it was amazing!!! The staff went above and beyond! It was worth the price you pay.
Always great service food is excellent and a place that’s home to me
The menu had more than enough choices to please both of us. The wine was amazing! Our glasses stayed full, one course vanished just as the next arrived. Very well timed! I would definitely come again!
We went for breakfast. The food was tasty and came out quickly. Sadly the service was poor and rarely were we checked on. It took 20 min to get our drinks.
Very good food. Nice atmosphere.
The menu is great! It was hard to decide on which dish- so many good choices. I got the daily breakfast special of crab beniet Benedict. I was worried it may be greasy or to “crabby” but it was PERFECTION! The best hollandaise sauce. A perfectly poached egg. The coffee was great. My 5 year olds pancake perfect too. The staff was so nice and friendly. We never wanted for anything.
The food and ambiance at the restaurant was remarkable. The restaurant was not full
but the attention and service felted you were rushed to order and depart. The server lacked the charisma and service expected at a upper class restaurant. The server reached over the table, placed plates and menu in a rude manner on the table, he was loud and a waiting time for his service was noted. The food was brought to our table in a classic matter and promptly.
Not worth the money. My fish was over cooked and so was my husbands steak. For $40.00 a dish we don’t expect this kind of food.
Delicious breakfast during our stay at Hotel Monteleone. A little pricey for breakfast, however serving portions were a nice size. Enjoyed by all.
Great food and service
Best meal I’ve had in New Orleans and the staff was great!
The food was excellent. Well prepared and well timed. The pace of the meal allowed enough time to enjoy each course.
The food and services was fantastic will be returning here the next time I am in town. One of the nicest restaurants in the French Quarter!!!
We greatly enjoyed the breakfast. The service by Kathy was superb, coffee and iced tea never empty. The duck confit egg Benedict served on a buttermilk biscuit was different and perfect. The breafast sandwich was served on a freshly baked croissant.
Expected New Orleans “brunch,” so I was disappointed that their brunch was VERY limited (Eggs Benedict, few standard breakfast items). Food good, but not a special New Orleans brunch I had anticipated.
Criollo’s was great! We went for breakfast because of a friend’s recommendation. The beignets were fantastic - way better than Cafe du Monde! We liked their ambiance and service very much and actually went back again the next morning because of how good it was.
The service was great! Food was good. I enjoyed the flight of soup! Great idea! The noise level was a little loud due to the people seated next to us. I am not back fan of the "bench" style seating and to make it worse the back was broken and not comfortable.
Our food was served rather quickly, however, the bacon was cold. Our waiter tried to be attentive, but he seemed to have too many tables to serve. All in all, not the best experience we’ve had at Criollo.
The food was amazing. It is a little on the pricey side but it worth it. The quality of ingredients was outstanding. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We will be going again very soon.
This place was a very special treat. Service was on point, food was delicious and ambience was what you would expect from a 5 star restaurant. Will most certainly be back.
We LOVED our dinner - we saved Criollo for our last night of our girls getaway. We wanted to share an appetizer - but unfortunately they were all seafood. Two of us are allergic to seafood. We asked if the Chef might have something he could prepare as an alternative - and we were told no. We were not upset - as we realize we were asking beyond the ordinary...but perhaps a non-seafood appetizer available would be nice. The steaks were delicious - and the dessert was Strawberry Beignet. Delicious!
Stayed at the hotel for our staycation honeymoon. The staff at this restaurant treated us like royalty! Definitely recommending to all couples.
The live band is what made us stay even longer. Also best pimms cup in french quarter
Food was disappointing. No semblance of individual or distinct flavors. May as well have put everything in a blender. Fantastic venue. Great drinks. Below average food.
Good food and convenient location. Really enjoyed the breakfast selection and the beignets and praline sauce!
Our server was OUTSTANDING. Great service, wonderful friendly personality. All staff great, food top notch. GO!
Great location for dinner the restaurant is connected to the caresoul bar and a convenient location to many things. Our food was good. Lots of social
Life in this location
I think Criollo is an underappreciated New Orleans restaurant. We come here about once a month for Sunday brunch, people-watching and to hang out in the French Quarter. The food is very good, and more healthful than in many New Orleans restaurants. There is always a salmon dish which is very good, although the preparation changes to incorporate seasonal ingredients. The gumbo is quite good and I'm a fan of the salads. The atmosphere is calm and upscale. My one complaint is that they don't seem able to hang on to servers. We rarely have the same server more than a couple of times. On occasion, this impacts the quality of the experience. Hopefully, the restaurant can address this problem and the experience will be wholly wonderful.
