Beware, I was charged a separate $8.52 charge. The manager guessed that our waiter made a mistake. Guessed?
I had already left a 20% tip to the waiter, they billed separately from the dinner bill. When I inquired about the third charge, the manager said he would have it removed. 2 full days later, it remains. This should be very concerning, almost 9$ quietly added on every credit card is a lot of theft.
Also, the waiter was informed that there was a gluten-free guest yet, he left bread in front of the gluten-free guest. He finally removed it the second time he was asked.
We had reservations for Easter dinner and it did not disappoint. The food was absolutely wonderful, the chef was amazing. From the bisque to the duck, 5 stars all around. We had a new service who didn’t know much or tend to us but was still a great evening! Looking forward to returning in future!
Easter Brunch at the Costa Brava Restaurant in The Casa Monica Resort Hotel was the best experience that I have had and with my guests. The chef featured a 5 course prix fix menu with versatile and great choices for each course. The dessert bar was fabulous and very tasty. The service was attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was elegant. My compliments to the managers, staff, chefs (and the Easter Bunny) for a wonderful time.
When we checked in the manager (I believe) asked if we would sit in the bar dining area because they overbooked. He pointed to the area and it was dark and not very Easter Holiday friendly. No one else was sitting in that area. He offered to buy us a round of drinks for the trouble. It definitely wasn’t worth that for the price of the dining experience. We declined and he understood and we waited for a table in the restaurant. It was beautifully set for Easter. We were so happy we waited. Everything was perfect. The seating, the serve staff, the length of time between courses wasn’t rushed, the food was impeccable and the martini was amazing! It was all perfect and worth every penny! Thank you! ps. When we left the bar dining area was full and I’m sure they weren’t given a choice in the matter for seating. I think that area isn’t a great experience for a high dollar event. People really don’t want to have Easter brunch paying $75 per person next to a bar.
This was our third visit to Costa Brava. Dined today for Easter Brunch and it was our anniversary. The ambiance is elegant and a little exotic. We had the set Easter 5 course brunch for $75 per person. The choices seemed nice. The first issue was that my husband requested to have 2 of the third course (soup and salad) instead of the second course offering of quiche. All of the varieties were made with cheese which he cannot eat. The waiter came back and said the chef could not do the cup of soup instead of a quiche. We had been seated for almost 30 minutes before we were brought the first course of breads and pastry. When they arrived they were ice cold. We got our second and third courses. Then it was a long delay for our main entree. We had been seated for an hour and a half. My husband’s food was not hot and my steak was over cooked and very fatty. A couple seated next to us requested their check before their entree even arrived. When they got their food, they are quickly and left. A 20% gratuity was automatically included. For two of us with brunch and some Prosecco the tab was $247. The most expensive meal we had eaten all weekend and the worst. This could have been lovely but the execution was lacking. Slow service. Lack of consideration for dietary needs and food that should have been good but wasn’t. We were disappointed as we have really enjoyed Costa Brava on previous visits and expected a special anniversary brunch
The food was amazing and the staff was kind and informative. I highly recommend this restaurant for adults. This is not a restaurant for small children. We had a family with a small child that ran around, jumped on the bench seating and was disruptive to other patrons. I highly encourage parents to not bring their children. There are plenty of kid friendly restaurants in St. Augustine
For an establishment located in a signature hotel, was expecting the food to have more flavor. Food was basic. Service was just okay.
The waiter Martin was adequate, but considering what we spent as locals we should not feel like tourist experiencing inflated rates with average service. Food was good!
I was celebrating my birthday, only the host said something, manager never showed up, burrata was boring, lamb was amazing but overcooked, I'll ve back , loved the place and the clientele.
Fancy tasteful dining room - kind of a 1920’s vibe but with modern seating and food.
Waiter Martin was charming and friendly.
Florida little necks with avocado shishito sauce was bangin’. Bronzino and beef tenderloin also good.
Dinner was fantastic - from the charcuterie board to the braised short ribs to the wine. Everything was perfect!
We had just got engaged. Staff did not acknowledge the note left for the occasion, but everything was great otherwise!
The food was very good. But when considering the service, Costa Brava provided a fairly average experience.
My wife and I arrived for an 8 PM reservation and realized that we had left our identification and credit cards at the resort. Fortunately I had my phone with credit card information. One of the staff listened to our problem and returned with a manager. Both of them were sympathetic and allowed us to dine.
Our dinners were outstanding. My bronzini was filleted and cooked perfectly. Our information worked perfectly and the charge was accepted.
We were very embarrassed initially, however the restaurant staff were completely supportive and reassuring. On all levels I recommend this restaurant and hope to return at some time in the future.
Costa Brava is a superb fine dining restaurant in the Casa Monica Hotel featuring a continental cuisine with a Spanish Mediterranean flavor. It has a wonderful international wine list to complement the menu, a full service bar with great concoctions by their mixologists, and a delightful choice of desserts to complete the evening. The service is very friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. Dietary modifications and restrictions can easily be accommodated. This restaurant is a favorite among the locals. Reservations are suggested, and dress is resort casual. Parking is best via hotel valet.
Was disappointed when I found out that the octopus shown on their website was no longer offered. Lamb was good. Service slow.
the menu es limited. Nothing especial. The price expensive
Met several family members for breakfast and had a wonderful time. Service was exceptional!
Great ambiance, delicious food, highly recommend going!
While staying at Casa Monica, we dined at Costa Brava several times. Breakfast, lunch, pre-dinner cocktails and appetizers were all wonderful. Special shout out to Nik @ Front Desk and to Vinny, F&B Director for taking extra special care of us. We look forward to returning to Casa Monica and enjoying the delicious fare at Costa Brava
Pretty standard food with a limited dinner menu. In my opinion the food is overpriced for the quality and the service. It was ok.
We were sorry to have to be seated in the bar area for lunch. The meal was great. The charcuterie board was wonderful! Service was good.
My wife and I had dinner on a recommendation from a friend. Outstanding service, delicious food, wonderful atmosphere. If I had to reach hard to find something, I would say the light could be turned up ever so slightly.
The crab cake may be the best I have ever had. The entire meal was outstanding. I also highly recommend the branzino, as well as the chocolate spice cake.
I have been coming to St.Augustine for years and never experienced Costa Brava. It will certainly be a staple for every visit from now on.
We went there for lunch - probably a better place for dinner.
The food was very good, but the menu for brunch was limited and boring, and the service was very slow and unattentive. The Servers were friendly and polite (when they came to the table), just very limited visits. Waited on a coffee refill for over 10 minutes and we were 75% complete with our meal before the server stopped back to check on our meal. With all the choices in St Augustine, we will not be back. If you want an average hotel breakfast then it is worth your time, if you want a true brunch experience look elsewhere.
Costa Brava Restaurant in the historic Casa Monica Hotel is one of the finest Fine Dining Restaurants in NE Florida featuring a Western Mediterranean Cuisine with a Spanish touch, a simply marvelous atmosphere where conversation is unimpeded, and superb, attentive friendly service from the Staff is standard. The menu is continental and quite creative. The chef can easily oblige dietary restrictions or modifications. The wine selection has a splendid international, and American assortment to complement any dish, and there is a full service bar featuring special aperitifs, cocktails, and cordials for any tastes. The simplest parking is through the hotel valet. I highly recommend this lovely restaurant, and I am a frequent patron.
We had the Branzino. It was delicious. Great Caesar salad and roasted pear salad. The service was excellent- attentive, but not overly so. We always look forward to staying at Casa Monica and eating at Costa Brava!!
the food was not impressive. I had the grouper which was cooked appropriately but without a lot of taste. The pilaf underneath was tasty. I had a crab cake earlier in the bar and it was good. The cheesecake I had one bite of and passed on eating the rest of it. The meal is served in area off the bar that is quite dark. The service was on the flyby.
We had a lovely lunch in the dining room. Food, service, & safety was great!
To be a high end restaurant it is a very sad that the waitress was so not pleasant. For the price it is not recommended. Not once he could explained the questions that we were asking about the menu. Never ask how was the meal or if we needed more water or wine.
The place itself its dark and very loud. The presentation of food again not the best.
Had a beautiful dinner. Food was absolutely wonderful and the service could not have been better. We had a nice table towards the back and we were able to comfortably talk. The piano was a nice volume and the musician was great. I will definitely be returning on my other visits to St. Augustine.
Food, location and ambiance were great. Service was poor and took away from the experience
Amazing special Valentine’s Day dinner.
Valentines dinner, nice choices, servings more plentiful than last year, dessert not so good- chocolate ravioli was very messy and did not have both coulis had a chocolate and a raspberry not a raspberry and a strawberry as was listed on menu, plus the panna cotta was rubbery. And they charged for parking this year. Our server Sierra was very attentive.
This place was NOT what you’d expect. The service was horrible. We had a reservation and they still sat us in an area that was clearly for walk-ins (their I explanation was that we didn’t have a reservation). We sat for 15-20 mins before we eventually tracked the only server working down to take our order. Once we got our food, there was bacon on an item that didn’t list this topping on the menu. Unfortunately, I had to send it back because I cannot eat pork. They let me order something else and it was terrible. Neither of us ate our food and they comp’ed us, although we paid for the appetizer. I would 10/10 NOT recommend!! I wish others would have listed this type of review to save us a trip.
To be fair, I think they tried to accommodate for not having enough dining options for dinner in being overwhelmed by the requests for dinner reservations. Our reservation was for 2:30 and they asked us to be there at 2. We were seated promptly upon arrival. The main issue I had - as did most the others with similar times - was they had what they called a “brunch” menu with mostly breakfast items with a few salads or 3 options for a sandwich. We all expected a wider range of lunch/dinner options which was not an option. There was multiple explanations to diners as well as repeated instructions to servers. Some of the seating was awkward as it was in an overflow bar area instead of one of the more formal dining rooms. The food was very good - but it was not the experience I expected.
Superb service. Helpful and pleasant waiter. This was our second trip and we will return.
We had a nice dinner here the first night we arrived after a long drive. We both got the filet which was very good!! Cheesecake not so good!!
Costa Brava is an excellent fine dining restaurant within the Casa Monica Hotel and Resort in Saint Augustine, FL. The cuisine is continental with a Spanish Mediterranean flavor, complemented with a diverse international assortment of wine selections and a full service bar for cocktails and aperitifs. The waiters and management staff are very friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. The Executive Chef and his staff feature very creative specials in addition to the wonderful menu that is advertised. The atmosphere at this wonderful restaurant is elegant, reasonably quiet, and a special place to have quiet conversations or celebrations. I am a frequent patron at this restaurant and have truly enjoyed my experiences here.
Well they didn’t have enough reservations to open the dining room so we had to eat in the bar area which was nice but loud , the waiter was good but didn’t come back to ask how our food was even when he noticed I needed a box for the beef short rib which had no other flavor but meat . The cost was a little extreme for not eating in the dining room but the salad was good and potatoes had good flavor! The fish was good
