Small gathering turned into a party of 8. Costa took care of everything and made us feel so welcome. The food and service was awesome! Music too!
My better half said, “My new favorite place to eat in St. Augustine!” Need I say more?
Service was impeccable. First Martini very good, second one even better shaken.
My wedge salad was best ever, two very tender light green iceberg slices with a perfectly balanced blue cheese sauce with bacon, and more. Sliced sirloin cooked perfectly medium rare, tender, flavorful, plus baked seasoned potato slices. A special chocolate cake was a perfect sharing dish.
We’d give “ambiance” another star if there were table cloths covering the faux wood table surfaces, and if there were a better window blind blocking in-the-eye early evening sun (most seats do not have this issue).
Overall a very enjoyable pre concert dinner!
Great anniversary night. Everything besides the potatoes verse was perfecr
All courses were excellent. Service was good, but for the price point it could use a little more polish.
Ate there for valentines couple days ago. The website didn't really say that they were gonna only have the prefix menu only. Most places offer it as a option. That menu wasnt worth the price. The champagne wasnt that good. The first course should of been called a amuse not a course. For in reality only got 3 courses. The menu felt cheaply put together and not very descriptive as like the prefix menu set up. The sea bass set up wasn't good. Each plate seemed to use the same ingredients in a attempt to stretch the menu to make money. A reservation at 830, and being forced into that bad valentines menu really sucked. The cheese course at the end was just sad. Must not be busy enough around the year for them to rip off guest on valentines because they know they will be busy. Will not recommend or go again. Felt abused in a sense
The service was decent, food was adequate but ambiance, live music and bar scene was very nice.
Food, service and ambiance wonderful as usual
Valentines Day food and service was flawless. The decor is old worldy and we like that ambience for a special occasion dinner out. Amber was very sweet and attentive as were all of the other staff. We will likely be returning on this holiday to sample the a la carte menu and perhaps for lunch when we are in the district.
Celebrated Mother’s 80th Birthday and had a wonderful time. The food, ambiance and service was impeccable and made a very special memory for all of us. Thank you!
Very good experience. Very welcome after the previous two visits that were lack luster. We celebrated with friends , over delish drinks, delightful food and great service. Thank you for serving the sea bass in the black skillet. It makes all the difference
It was elegant and quiet. The service was excellent and food outstanding.
Terrible service but the manager compensated our meal. Food was delicious. Cool ambiance.
Wonderful food and live music! We sat in the lobby lounge for an evening meal and cocktail on Saturday night and were delighted with the live blues trio, the House Cats (Love that name). Then a family brunch on Sunday morning was everything a brunch should be! Lovely Spanish Guitar music accompanied an outstanding meal. Perfect service, too.., attentive and friendly.
My husband and I were in town to celebrate our anniversary. We had reservations at Cellar 6, but they were unable to seat us at the time of our reservation and asked us to wait. After waiting for some time, we started to look for someplace else to eat. Costa Brava had a last minute table and saved our evening. The staff was extremely attentive and the food was delicious. My steak was cooked perfectly and the chocolate dessert was perfection. We ended up being grateful the other restaurant didn’t work out because our experience at Costa Brava exceeded our expectations.
The Food and Service were exceptional, but the Ambiance and the Noise level leave a little to be desired considering the upper end pricing of this establishment. I am not sure the Marriott influence has been positive.
Perfect setting in St Augustine. Service was okay. Our guests had their food overcooked, the manager apologized and offered a discount on that item. Go here for ambience but keep your expectations on food and servive low ..you will enjoy.
We had a lovely meal in this gorgeous setting inside the Casa Monica Resort and Spa. The reason we could not give 5 stars was probably due to the fact that this was a holiday (MLK Day.) Everywhere seemed very busy, so this could possibly have affected the service, etc. The restaurant appeared to be short-handed and the only 2 servers we saw appeared to be hopping. I would still recommend Costa Brava, however.
First time dining there. What a gem. Will be returning.
Great meal and great setting for romantic dinner. Will be repeat customers
Fantastic service. Great bartender. Delicious food. Fantastic experience for a party of 10.
Great service and food
Service was excellent. Our food was as good as we expected from the Costa Brava. They did not disappoint.
Very good service, good wine list, very nice dining experience - would recommend.
The service was not up to par. We waited a long time for drinks....our order wasn't processed properly (forgot soup, one entree came out more than 5 minutes after the others, hamburger was well done instead of medium rare). And, there were very few tables occupied.
It is such a beautiful restaurant and most of the food was delocious... just not up to Kessler properties' standards. We would give it one more try.
Very busy city during night of lights. We had a reservation for 5 for a 7:30 dinner but were refused parking as we were not guests. This was very frustrating as we had called to confirm valet parking option and one member of our party was unable to walk. Our service (Amanda) was very weak. Salad arrived immediately following appetizer. She never cleared the appetizer plates so they stayed on table thru dinner. The food was excellent but we were never checked on once dinner arrived. I had the butchers platter and highly Recommend but the horseradish serving to go with the lamb was such a very small amount. We were never asked for drink orders or condiment needs during the meal. The check was left and we waited 20 minutes to pay. Overall the atmosphere and location are great. The restrooms were terrible and out in the lobby of the hotel. The restrooms were closed for cleaning when we arrived and when we tried again the line was out the door.
The food was really really great. The service was good - not outstanding. Some of the drink service and follow up was not as good as it could have been considering the type of restaurant it is. The portions are perfect size, but it is pricey.
The restaurant was beautiful, the food was pretty good and the mimosas were great. However, the service was HORRIBLE and slow.
Service was very poor; waiting for our mimosas for quite a while; asked for milk for coffee 3x/never came. Responses from wait service was very lax. Bus-persons were walking around passing up dirty tables as if they didn't see the mess. Our server took one or two empty glasses, and never came back to remove used dishes. We had to pile OUR used dished on a nearby table (which was still not cleared off from the customers an hour before!) before we could go back to the buffet. For the price of Sunday Brunch, Costa Brava did not offer good service, which made for an unpleasant atmosphere. Food? THAT was amazing. Food quality and offerings were great. Unfortunately this was not the first time this has taken place. Other family members have experienced the same. Would I recommend or return? No. I could get quality food and better service elsewhere. Sorry.
This restaurant has really improved, great tasting food only thing that needs work is the wine list, very limited
the food was so Bland and lacks seasoning. the restaurant was suoer loud and busy. service was slow and lacked personality
Very good experience. Everything was great, but had to go from a 5 star to 4 because the meal service was very, very slow. Reservations at 5:00, had fantastic private room for 7 people, waiter was excellent, food good, and we totally enjoyed the experience. However, we wanted to attend a concert at the Basilica at 7:00. Our meal service was so slow we just didn’t go. It was 8:00 before we were finished with check, etc.
Loved our anniversary dinner
The Santa Monica is a lovely historic hotel. Costa Brava is a nice room..not particularly warm or inviting (the bar is however). This is a tourist town where the “they’ll never be back” mantra plays. Wine and food served perfunctorily-though I think this was training and not attitude. Sea bass quite good. Perfectly done and silky. Mixed grill quality good. Very salty and not hot. Seasonal veggie melange was really terrific. I bounce around between Jax and Boca Raton and would come here again. Probably would ask more questions- but clearly this is among the best tables in St Augustine
The service is very slow (all meals). The food is top notch and reasonable considering the four course menu. We were seated between the bar and the main dining room despite making reservations well in advance. It was very noisy for a classy restaurant.
Our Christmas Day dinner at Costa Brava was delicious. The courses were served at appropriate intervals and there was s good variety. Our waitress was excellent. The atmosphere was formal, but the music was a hip-hoppy Christmas. The music was very strange and inappropriate for the setting and for the clientele of mostly 50+ patrons. We were one of the first to be seated, as our reservations were for 5:00 pm, but the hostess tried to seat us away from the main dining room and next to the very loud bar - 5 feet away from someone’s dog. The dog clearly should not have been there. We requested a quieter location, so she seated us in the more formal restaurant section. Since we had reservations, I don’t think she should have attempted to seat us near the loud bar. The manager stopped by our table and mentioned that they consider themselves a “fine dining” establishment. The young, somewhat unfriendly hostess appeared to be direct from TGI Friday’s - not who you would expect at a fine restaurant.
We had a wonderful Christmas dinner and also celebrating our grand daughters 21st birthday. It was perfect
Christmas Buffet pretty pricey at $90 pp. It was good for maybe $60 pp
Ham dried out and prime rib the same. Would give it another shot. Shouldn't matter but our reservations were at the end of the service times, 3p. Maybe they didn't want to replenish. Also I do not recall offer of buffet vs Christmas dinner later in the afternoon, would've preferred dinner.
Recognizing that there were few restaurants open Christmas day in St Augustine, we booked for brunch at Costa Brava. At reception desk we were informed that although we were early they would seat us in 20 minutes. The crowds keep checking in and being seated. After 30 minutes, checked with desk as to how they would find us since no names were announced as people were seated. We were seated within 5 minutes. Waiter took drink order and disappeared. Not to be seen again until we requested check. We were left to discover Buffet line by ourselves. Buffet was in large room with very small signs indicating the food on that particular table. Serving utensils were caked with dried food from previous diners. Food was mediocre and not hot. The only saving grace was a large variety of desserts, but again with food covered serving utensils. All of this for $70/person plus 20% holiday tip. Buffet may be OK on normal weekend, but keep away on major holidays.
We went to this restaurant for the Christmas Grand Buffet. Our reservation was for 2:30pm. We had to wait for about 15 min to be seated and then we were seated in the bar area. The food was definitely NOT worth the price. The cheese/meat table looked like toddlers had been playing in it, the meats were dry and some of the side dishes were also dry. The seafood was the best of all the food. The cakes were messy. The service was not very good either. We had been wanting to try this place for one of their holiday buffets for a while and we wish we had gone somewhere else.
