Extremely fancy and beautiful place. The decoration is out of this world, it made me feel I was in an art museum. The food and service were also outstanding and prices were reasonable for the quality, beauty and convenient location of this place.
The waiters and waitresses were very friendly. Given the Covid-19 situation, the seating was more in the bar area but still very nice. The food was absolutely amazing. The Halibut is something everyone must try! I’d recommend the Nutella lava cake for dessert. Everyone should try this beautiful place!
Very enjoyable. Cocktails and food delicious.
The ambiance was very elegant. The service was on point. The food was absolutely delicious!
This restaurant needs a face lift
I made a reservation for fathers day breakfast. We were seated in the bar rather than the dining area, it was so dark i could barely read the menu. The service was very slow from start to finish. Our glasses smelled like fish water, the eggs Benedict smelled and tasted like rancid pork. My husband asked for ham in his omelet which never came but we were charged for. At no point could we complain since the server dropped the food off and never returned. Overall a very poor experience, overpriced and sanitary concerns.
We booked a reservation. Got there, and the door was locked. Looked in the window and it was empty. Tried calling the restaurant and it kept ringing and ringing. No one at the hotel was helpful. I have no idea what happened that night.
We have been here on a few occasions when it was the place to go for a special fine dining experience. Let's put it this way, compared to before, we were overdressed this time as other diners were in shorts and jeans. Average food, high prices. It needs to find its way back to former times when the name alone made you anticipate an above average celebration.
Great food and service. I will definitely be coming back.
The restaurant is beautiful & the service was excellent. I ordered pancakes. They were perfectly prepared. However, $12 for 3 med-sized pancakes was a ridiculous price. I would have been embarrassed to serve those 3 single pancakes on a full-sized plate.
Two employees to wait on tables (they were working their tales off). $15 a drink. Rude bartender. small small portions. Dessert was literally a sample size.
This restaurant has an identity problem. Their website describes themselves as “Refined Asian & Middle Eastern cuisine in a romantic Moorish setting at the Casa Monica Hotel.” The category of cuisine on all the reviews is Mediterranean. And the ACTUAL menu was your basic run-of-the-mill chicken, steak, and bacon cheeseburger.
There is nothing refined, Asian, or Middle Eastern (or Mediterranean) about this place. To their credit, seasoning was good and I would consider going there if other run-of-the-mill restaurants like Fridays or Applebee’s were the alternatives.
Five-star dining experience within the historic Casa Monica. Food, service & ambience were outstanding. We started with fancy Martinis & heirloom tomato salad & each ended with filet mignon. The cuts were so juicy & tender that they barely required chewing! Emerging from quarantine, we appreciated the special attention of the bartenders & restaurant manager. Memorable romantic first night in St. Augustine. So grateful they opened for Memorial Day weekend.
Costa Brava has become one of our hometown favorites. Perhaps due to the current virus scare, it was quieter than usual for a Saturday night. That made it even more special for me and my wife. As always, the food was exquisite, the service timely and professional and the ambiance magical. We also like their very professional valet parking. We shall return--soon!
Superb meal...salmon for both me and my wife. Chowder to start. French bread with olive oil for the table. Every bite was excellent. Very high marks to the kitchen staff and to the server for providing a highly enjoyable evening.
Loved the bottomless Mimosas! Service was a little slow, and it was not busy, but food was very good.
I really enjoyed my experience, the decor, space and staff, made us comfortable, the dining experience was fantastic the portions were excellent but I felt it a little over priced, examples a $4 for either Toast or English muffin. That’s is why I graded it a 4 on the value.
I highly recommend the Hunters Platter for an appetizer. It was plenty for the 4 of us and had a great assortment of cheese, olives, chorizo, etc. Our dinners were really delicious too!
We loved our meal ...only complaint is your tag line online is tapas and you offer very few BUT what we had was excellent
We were disappointed that the Quilt wine on your list was not available
Food was good but the portions were small. Prices were not terrible and the place was nice.
Five stars from start to finish. Our server was excellent - prompt / efficient without interrupting our meal. Pretty good wine selection...we opted for a bottle of our favorite wine - Sancerre. Calamari was excellent, salmon was good, and my husband’s scallops were divine (perfectly cooked and like butter)! Can’t wait to return!
We had an amazing time unfortunately the experience that we had in the bar for pre-drinks was very disappointing service wise. We waited for a very long time to be serviced and then to get our bottle of wine along with checking out took a very long time.
The meal in the restaurant was absolutely amazing!
When we were first seated my husband was near a busy door to a private party. We requested to be moved. Marcus helped us find a much better table. We appreciated his prompt attention. Also our waitress was very professional and attentive. We will return.
Great night. Beet salad was great but the dressing need some kick to it was a little bland. Steak and lobster was fantastic. Sea bass was cooked perfectly and the beet purée was good but would have preferred a different purée on the fish. The seafood cocktail and the risotto were fantastic. The seafood chowder was yummy. Would eat there again. Fantastic service.
Menu this year was excellent both for me (not a foody) and my foody husband. Lucky for us Amber was our server. She was our server previously, and is so pleasant and attentive. The only negative was the obnoxious, noisy, and, I think, inebriated lady(?) seated next to us. This behavior was noted by the manager and Amber and thus, my glass of wine and husband’s scotch were compt.
Valentines Day dinner could not have been better. Surf and turf at most restaurants usually has one item lacking in quality but not here. Our rood was excellent and the wait staff was perfect, not seen too much or too little.
It was apparent that all restaurant staff was working hard to make their Valentines event memorable for all and they succeeded! We highly recommend Costa Brava!
Nice experience but adding a 20% tip automatically for a party of 2 seemed odd and it was not mentioned with room for an dad's tip on the bill. A little aggressive.
wonderful service, excellent food - really a treat! Besides wonderful food, they really take very good care of you.
Great service for a party of 8 on a busy Saturday night. Excellent martini’s and good as well!
Service = Great
No Pressure = Fantastic
Both we and our guests will be back
Good Day James, Thank you so much for the kind words. We look forward to hosting you and your guests again soon! Kindly, Barrett Toole Restaurant Manager
I went for Sunday brunch and had the BEST time. Our server, Amber, was amazing. She was attentive but not overbearing. The food was quick and delicious. The music was so relaxing. All components lead to an A+ experience. I will definitely be back soon!!
This was a great restaurant but had a few service/food glitches based on our orders, however, they did go out of their way to try and fix it and to meet dietary needs. The food we had was ordered well done and tasty and just right for brunch.
My biggest complaint was that the live music during brunch funneled right into the side room we were given for our party of 7 which made it difficult to converse.
Food was good but a bit under seasoned....
Good, not great....expected a bit more....
The place is beautiful , the ambiance and staff are amazing. The downfall is the food and the value. I would pay 500$ for a plate of food if it wow's me but the food although tasty i could get anywhere else for much less. Nothing exciting very blah menu.
A nice table was ready when we arrived. The service was excellent. The food was just above average. The salmon was very good, but the lamb was overcooked. We requested medium rare, but it came just little short of well done.
We were staying at the Casa Monica for the weekend and dined at Costa Brava for a lunch and a breakfast. The food was very good both times and well prepared. What stands out are the staff. Our lunch server Amber was not only very attentive as our waiter but at the end of the meal and we were the last diners, she assisted us with recommendations to see in the neighborhood. Very friendly but also spoke very highly of the hotel and its care of her and the other employees. We overheard another waitress speak about when she had a family illness, how good the hotel management was to her and that she had never worked for an employer as good as Kessler. Its a beautiful hotel, very good food, but the dedicated people who work for this company that cares - that is five star in my book. I highly recommend both the restaurant and the hotel.
Thank you for the kind words! We will share the feedback with both ladies. We look forward to hosting you when you're back in St. Augustine. Kindly, Barrett Toole Restaurant Manager
Easy breakfast in our hotel lobby. Service was top notch and food was good. Prices are as expected in a hotel. One of the only places to get a breakfast while town is packed and has limited options.
We appeared for dinner on New Year's Eve and were very disappointed. We had been to the restaurant several years ago and enjoyed it, so made a reservation for New Years about a month in advance. When we arrived for an 830 reservation, after waiting to be seated we were placed in a table right by the bar where the band was so loud we could not hear at all. When I asked if there were any other tables available, the maître de rudely told me no. The food was mediocre at best, for a high price for St. Augustine. We will never come to this restaurant again.
