Cosmopolitan - Telluride

Chad Scothorn, Owner and Executive Chef, has received national attention and praise for his original, fresh approach to food preparation.
The restaurant is located in the Hotel Columbia at the base of the Gondola.
Great food and service.
Our experience was excellent in every way.
Every course that all four of us ordered was excellent, which included starters of beet salad, crispy calamari and shrimp, a sushi roll, and main course duck breast.
In general, the food and Telluride is pretty awesome. The cosmopolitan might be overlooked because it has on a backstreet opposite the gondola, but it would be a shame if you overlook it. The food is fantastic and the service is great.
Was ok. Our most expensive meal, but not the best. Also food was priced like Vegas or the most expensive restaurant in New York, but quality didn’t match. Swapped out sea bass for some weird fish but still charged $50 for it. Also octopus appetizer was a few slivers of octopus a totally inadequate amount. We thought the restaurant was way off and confused about how to execute a fine dining experience.
Very well executed meal. The octopus appetizer was excellent. The lobster and shrimp corn dog was flavorful but fleshy. Should have left some seafood pieces for better “sausage integrity. Duck and pork chop were both excellent.
The Cosmo was a wonderful experience. We happened to make the reservation for a Sunday night and got it a little late, but actually worked out so well, as it was the first night of daylight savings so 845 was like 745. We drove over from the Crested Butte area and arrived in time to enjoy a free gondola ride just across the road prior to our dinner. We rode at dusk and came back to see the lights of town glowing.
Dinner was fabulous, we shared the octupus appetizer and beet salad. The sea bass had flavors never experienced together and wow! The blueberry pie ended the evening so well. Thank you!
As always, Cosmo delivers. Fantastic food, friendly and attentive service. My favorite restaurant in Telluride.
Best steak ever! The food...the service...the ambiance is the best at the Cosmopolitan!
Extremely overpriced but that partly just reflects everything in Telluride. Food was fine but unforgettable. The gnocchi with mushrooms Brussels sprouts needed some other seasoning. Salad with pear and pomegranate seeds had too much dressing.
Loved the food and vibe! It was a perfect dinner to enjoy as adults in an environment with dimmed lighting, fantastic food, and good drinks!
Basically our go to restaurant in Telluride now. Love menu selection, quality of meal, service and ambiance.
Outstanding dining experience. One of the best restaurants in Telluride.
Simple menu, but done well. Table captain very capable.
Service is good, but not great. Server forgot our order and had to ask again. Also, despite husband's birthday being noted there was not even a mention of "happy birthday." Food was great, although pricey. We got the tenderloin and the lamb and they were perfectly cooked. Sides could be a little more interesting. Of note, they charge a 3% service fee on top of all the taxes for the kitchen staff. As much as they say this all goes to the staff, then that means that 3% from the menu prices does not, thus these fees are just additional owner profit in the end.
Great food and service. Had a very enjoyable experience.
Friend get together
Our last night in Telluride my wife and I went with another couple to Cosmopolitan. So glad we saved the best for last. Great intimate setting with an awesome staff. Food was out of this world, drinks were very well crafted. I cannot day enough about this place. Our waitress was extremely helpful with the menu and really catered to us. I will be back!
Consistently great food and experience! Thanks
Cosmopolitan is our favorite special occasion restaurant especially on Valentines. Love the long stem red rose that they give to the ladies! Our dinners were very good but I was disappointed that they didn’t have the salmon appetizer under the smoky glass dome. I did have the spicy ahi sashimi and it was excellent. My husband had the special snapper entree which he enjoyed. Pricey but good. The server was attentive but not overly so which was nice. We highly recommend Cosmo and will return often.
One of the best meals I’ve ever had!
Food exquisite & service impeccable
The tender filet mignon with a cracked pepper sauce was accompanied by decadent mashed potatoes and roasted Brussel sprout slaw. All of it was delicious. My son and I loved the brownie sundae with the homemade ice-cream.
Great service and atmosphere. Limited menu and overpriced
Excellent food and service but be prepared to pay. A $52 seafood stew entree was not very hearty. It seemed very expensive at over $200 for 2 people. We had one drink each -husband’s was non-alcoholic, one shared app and one shared salad, two entrees and a shared dessert. Again -very good but for the prices will only go maybe once a year for a special occasion.
Cosmopolitan always delivers. Among the best 2 or 3 restaurants in Telluride.
Always a treat. The snapper special was amazing.
Adrian took great care of me on my last visit. The food recommendation was spot on and the service was what I have come to know.
Great service and food. Great place right at the bottom of the gondola.
Top notch, service with Benson was outstanding, the food was fabulous, everyone at the table enjoyed their meals, the beet salad with the goat cheese was perfect, and the blueberry pie also a win, the only negative was they put 6 guys at a table for what really should have been seating for 4. I still would return and recommend Cosmopolitan.
Could use more non shellfish dishes for those w allergies. Small plates options to encourage sharing would be nice
As always, the restaurant is amazing. The menu is diverse and excellent. The service is impeccable!
Fantastic meal.Happily buzzing bar and restaurant. We were immediately shown to a requested window table and our very adroit server, Robert, proceeded to give us terrific advise and exceptional service. My husband started with the locally famous lobster corn dogs. Amazing. I had the potato leek hot soup that warmed cold insides. We were a bit worried when Robert assured us that we would enjoy the Wolf Fish special on tonight’s menu. Pushing aside my usual orders of delicious pork chops or must-do lamb chops, we both ordered the Icelandic fish with a large measure of trepidation. Silly us. Chef Chad Scothorn has yet to disappoint and, with a creative wolf fish special that came with lobster mashed potatoes and caviar, he blew us away. Honestly, don’t miss this place. It has been around for years because they are among the best and keep arriving at more astounding food. Exceptional service, too. If you needed any other reason to treat yourself to this place, feel great about paying the 3% addition that helps to support the kitchen staff. Thank you for a memorable evening.
Cosmopolitan never fails to please! One of our favorite date night spots!
Pork chop and Caesar salad was outstanding
Great atmosphere and the food was amazing!!
My son’s barbqued salmon was amazing ! I ordered duck which wasn’t as good.
