Cora's Ratings and Reviews
High hopes but despite great service and the White House hotel setting the formica table and food overall took this group meal to just an a-ok status across the board.
My Wahoo, the brussel sprouts and greens were below par with those getting steaks stating good but not above that for the meat.
Predinner drinks had us getting service from a somewhat off-putting attitude bartender. How can you be named a "Bourbon Bar Of America" with no list or care taken to let bourbon drinkers know prices and brands other than they are on the shelf at the front of the bar. No patience, no help, just let me get away to serve my regulars here at the bar.
More than one in our party noticed. May come by for a glass of wine and the lobby area but not dinner or a craft cocktail.
Went for a special occasion with my family. We were seated in a little side area that was perfect for everyone to catch up. Service was fantastic! Our waitress was extremely attentive and timed our meal perfectly. The food was excellent. We had everything from fried green tomato appetizers to shrimp and grits to beignets for dessert. Everything was seasoned and prepared to perfection. The bar was also a large and lively place. It made for a nice setting to have a cocktail. It got a little crowded at the bar so be sure to get their early to ensure you have a seat. Definitely worth a return visit!
Checked menu on website and next day the menu at restaurant was not the same. Waiter said menu had changed & website had not been updated. One person in my group asked about an item that she wanted to order that she saw on the website menu. We all had water with no ice in tiny glasses. Waiter came to table and refilled everyone's water glass except mine. I had about a sip left in my glass. I was sorry I left him a 20% tip. He took the check holders from some before all were ready. He practically jerked my check holder off the table. He didn't seem to like it when I requested a straw for my drink. The restaurant was not crowded and there were only 5 in my party. I have wanted to eat at Cora's ever since it opened. TV advertises lunch specials. I had to ask because it was nowhere on the menu and the waiter did not mention it. I saw 2 things on the menu that I would eat--a $12+ hamburger, and a $12 poboy that was named "stuffed" poboy on the menu but it was just a regular poboy. Menu used to have a stuffed poboy with steak & cheese & what appeared to be a salad on top with balsamic vinegar. Shrimp on bread with mayo, lettuce, and tomato is not a stuffed poboy. It's a poboy. Apparently, Cora's used to be known for menu items with a local flair but the new ad on tv said they weren't doing that any more, and the ad also features only happy hour specials.
I have a passion for steak like nothing else, so I love trying it at new places . The steak at Coras was absolutely fantastic. Ordered it rare and it came out exactly that. The fried green tomato with lump crab was also simply delectable; perfectly fried and melt-in-your-mouth goodness all around. (Though the portions were very small, only two tomatoes per order of the app.)
Thought while the food was 5 stars, the service was very poor. Our server cleaned off an entire table before greeting us (the host was elsewhere) despite making eye contact with me at the host stand, which was a tiny bit annoying but no biggie.
But when we did get seated we were extremely rushed. I understand it being late and the kitchen closing soon, but I had made a reservation for a listed time. If the restaurant isn't able to properly cater to guests at a certain time, you should not be able to make a reservation via the app. If the latest reservation slot was an hour earlier I would have done that without a second thought.
Our waiter constantly hurried us up with our various orders, interrupting our conversations on more than one occasion, and came by the table several times more than necessary, (though our steaks didn't come with the toppings we had ordered and he had to bring them out afterwards after being reminded.)
Finally after we had finished our meal and had gotten the check, our waiter made it very clear he wanted us gone by extremely rudely saying "You know, there's a lovely outdoor view on the third floor, please feel free to take your drinks up there and enjoy them there." with a very clear implication of "hey hurry up and leave already."
Again, the food was phenomenal and we'll be definitely be coming back for it, but hopefully service will take a 180.
We had the best experience at Cora’s. From the host who greeted us to our waitress, the service was exemplary. The food was Outstanding. I had the 6 ounce filet and it was cooked to perfection. Cannot rave enough about the spinach salad. It will definitely be our special occasion restaurant from now on.
This restaurant is always the top of my list when visiting my friends in MS. Outstanding food and I just love the decor and ambiance in this place. Cocktails are fantastic. Servers are the best and go out of their way for you with a smile. Have never had a bad experience here. Even with lots of people in there, it's still quiet which is rare to find. This is the kind of place where everyone is whispering, so it's never too noisy.
Cora’s is a nice Resturant with a limited menu but the food and service was excellent.
Adam was very informative about the food and the wine/adult beverages.
Cora’s is more casual than fine dining but the food is wonderful.
The alligator hash alone is worth returning for and the grouper was delicious.

I will say that using OpenTable for the first time, great, easy to use, there were 2 confirmation emails sent. I requested accommodations be made for my spouses birthday dinner. The hostess didn't know about it, she tried seating us at the first available table she came to, in the center of the room. I had to request a quiet booth.
Very good meal and romantic atmosphere. Waitress was super friendly, warm and have unpretentious service.
Crab cake appetizer was very good.
I ordered the redfish which was cooked perfectly. The flavor wasn't my favorite but that would be my fault as it was exactly as advertised on the menu coming buffalo style. I loved the buffalo sauce on the accompanying fried oysters but prefer redfish in a more traditional preparation. My wife loved her seafood pasta and both sides of truffle fries and candies Brussel sprouts were superb. Unfortunately we had no room for desert as portions of everything were generous. Another plus of Friday evening dinning - 1/2 price cocktails.
We would definitely try Coras again when in the area
We were visiting our son at Keesler AFB, and we wanted to go out for a lovely meal that was not in a casino. Cora's was in a great location, the service was excellent, and the food was delicious. It is a nice place to go for a special occasion. We went to the bar after dinner, and the bartender was friendly and efficient. Overall, a wonderful place!
The food was good but it was way too pricey for the brunch buffet. I could've spent the same amount of money at a casino buffet, and gotten more bang for my buck. It was a special occasion and we will probably won't eat there again.
